Thomas M. Thompson Construction

Very unpleasant experience working with [redacted]. We were promised to be in our home in 8 months (1500sq.ft home). After 14 months and no end in site , we were forced to find another contractor to finish the job, just to prevent continued monetary loss on our behalf.

Review: On January 13, 2015 my wife and I entered into a written contract with Thomas M. Thompson to turn our screened porch into an insulated windowed porch with screens. Remove the wooden decking from the two adjacent decks and replace it with Trex decking and railing and install a maintenance free pergola over the new deck.

In addition we agreed to have Thomas M. Thompson remodel a guest bathroom and put in a new bathtub, sink and stool. We purchased the sink/vanity and tile and he was to install same.

The contract stated that the cost would be $33,900.00 for the deck and porch and we verbally agreed to give $5000.00 to start the bathroom.

As of the signing of the contract we have,to much of our embarrassment, given Thomas M.Thompson $30,799.62 for the deck and porch and $5000.00 for the bathroom remodel which we have paid already.

In six months time he,Thomas Thompson demolished the bathroom and has not finished it making the bathroom completely unusable as well as damaging a window in the process. The deck was demolished and only one of the decks has decking and no railing and neither deck has a stairway any longer The screened porch no longer has any screening or windows or doors, all of which is very unsafe.

Mr. Thompson does not answer his phone and only occasionally responds to texts. He promises to show up and and does not on a regular basis. In the last 6 months they have worked on this project approx. 80 hrs.Desired Settlement: Complete the job per the contract by the end of July,2015

Review: I contracted with Thompson for a small home improvement project (hand railing along front entry steps.) Signed a work order and gave a deposit of $1,642.33 on 1/3/15. After getting ignored, "the run around" and excuses for almost 3 months, I badgered him enough that he finally came 3/25 and worked a few hours, getting the job partially complete (and leaving our home looking worse, since the construction is only partially complete.) He said he would return 3/27 to complete the job. He did not, nor did he call, nor did he respond to numerous calls from me the past several days asking him to complete the job or at least inform me when he will return. His non compliance and lack of communication (taking, or returning calls) during the 3 month period has become very frustrating. My patience is exhausted!Desired Settlement: Have the job finished completely and promptly.
