I am rejecting this response because:
I am rejecting this response because:While Mr A*** conceded the damage was caused by someone, he asserted that the filter would not have needed to be removed in order to replace the air compressorAnd he claimed that the damage would have shown up earlier if it was a result of the repair at the Randleman locationHe also made a point of mentioning the experience level of himself, the manager, and the technician who completed the repair.I followed up with *** and spoke with the other technician who verified this was the filter that left their shop on the 15th, but that they would not have both signed off on the oil change if it were damaged in any way, much less to the degree that you seeHe explained at *** they have two technicians initial the oil filter on every change and if it is even minimally damaged, including a scuff or small dent to the casing, they have to replace itThey showed me an example of an oil filter that would be 'damaged out' and I can say, I would not have noticedI am certain the damage was not done at *** *** ***.In thephotos, you can see the initials signed off from ***, which I drove nearly miles on after the oil change It was not until after driving when the car was seen by Thomas Tire that I had issues due to the dent in the oil filter and leak.To the point that the leak would have left us stranded before our return trip, I consulted with a mechanic with years experienceHe explained that it may not have left your Randleman location leaking, but over the course of several cycles of building pressure and releasing, even a small dent can become a leak and that it often takes time and/or high rpm's to develop. It is my belief and the assertion of this mechanic, that the damage was done either due to the proximity or in attempt to remove the oil filter while replacing the air compressor at your Randleman locationPerhaps the technician felt it was not significant enough to replace or mention to us. *** ***

Below is the response our Retail General Manager, Eric A[redacted] provided to Mr. [redacted] on 11/06/17.  I have also attached photos of the oil filter.  We have spoken to several technicians and they all have stated that if we had damaged the oil filter, Mr. [redacted] would have noticed the...

change in his engine almost immediately.  The fact that he drove to Georgia and was on his way back before he noticed the clicking sound from his engine, reinforces our position that we did not damage his vehicle.  The oil filter is not in the way of the air compressor and does not need to be removed to replace an air compressor.  Mr. [redacted], First off I will say that Thomas Tire & Automotive has been in business for 36 years. I myself have been with the company for over 20 years, Roger the manager of the Randleman location has been with the company over 20 years and the technician that worked on your vehicle has over 20 years’ experience. We ALL pride ourselves in doing our jobs to the best of our abilities. We also believe in taking care of our customers even when there may be some gray area.  I have spoken with my manager of the Randleman location, the technician that work on your vehicle and our director of sales and operations Ricky who said he spoke with you about your vehicle on Monday. Our technician assures me that he never touched the oil filter on your car during removal and installation of the ac compressor. Meaning it was not in the way at all.  Once your vehicle was brought back to us and we put it on our rack and inspected the oil leaking issue we saw marks all the way around the oil filter, we also looked at the oil sticker that is in your window and saw that it’s right around 100 miles till you need your next oil service. So to us it looks like someone was trying to take your oil filter off and didn’t know what they were doing or couldn’t remove it.I also don’t see, as you stated “on your way home from Georgia” that you started having an issue. If an oil filter was damaged in North Carolina and driven over 3 hours at least one way to Georgia a problem would present itself then. Sorry about this issue but none of us see how we/Thomas Tire is responsible for any damage to your oil filter and or engine.Regards, Eric A[redacted]
