Review: I have an older brick home and pointing was needed as well as recementing foundation stonework. The front bay window needed to be recaulked. A whole house fan needed to be removed and I wanted to extend an existing front porch roof. I paid 1/2 of the total before his men began. They were to begin Tuesday May 6 and he called to say they were on the way. He did not show up and did not call. I tried to call and could not leave a message. Finally heard from him Friday evening saying he had a diabetic situation and was in the hospital and could not call. No one called to let me know not to expect him. We settled on Tuesday May 13 and his men began the work. On Wednesday he showed me that the existing porch roof could not be extended because some of the support beams were split and one attachment to the brick wall was pulling out. I would need a completely new roof and the price would be $6,250. I saw what he was saying and took some pictures. He also suggested that I call my insurance agent as he thought the issue was related to the weight of the winter snow and ice. I did and the inspector came on Thursday. He wanted to speak with Jeff T[redacted] about re: questions. I provided his phone number. I also emailed Jeff that the agent wanted to talk with him. Jeff never responded. The following week I decided that I did not want to put a window where the house fan had been and would have Jeff just brick the opening. Tried to call him about that so he could get the needed brick. Could not leave a message. Same as before and no response. Jeff had indicated that he had bought a new business and would have to spend 2 weeks in Carolina being trained. He stated he would be gone the end of May and early June. Since I had not been able to get in touch with him I thought it would be important to see if while still here he had submitted the paperwork to get a permit from the township. As of June 6,2014 they did not have any paperwork. I decided to cancel. The $1,775 down payment paid for done work.Desired Settlement: I would like the second down payment $3,125 returned to me since nothing has been done. He left the new porch beams which I will pay for since he has not requested them and I did ask him. I checked the prices for wood beams at [redacted] and that totaled $59.09 using Douglas fir as the choice wood. That would make the return amount $3065.91.Recently there were several other clients who had delays in their work according to the realtor who suggested him.
