Complaint: [redacted] I am rejecting this response because: The business did not stand behind their supposed warranty. I contacted them immediately each time the leak was identified. If the roof would have been installed correctly the first time, this would not be an issue now. It is obvious that the business is not going to do the right thing, so this discussion is pointless. The BBB and consumers need to be made aware of how they do business. Sincerely, [redacted]

Most home inspectors are not roofers or even get in the attic to look for leaksI’m sorry your inspector did not identify any leaks at the time of his inspectionHe probably didn’t look hard enoughThat is correct prior to our meeting the other day I was inside the homeowners homeI discovered
that there was some interior sheetrock damageI asked the homeowner if the sheetrock damage was from the leaking since our roof was installed or has that damage been there since before we put the roof on? The homeowner said the damage had been there since before our company installed the roofThis evidence and admission to us proves that the skylight in the valley has been an ongoing issue since before we ever came along which is why I have canceled all mold inspections and remediationWe cannot be liable for pre existing moldThe skylight should not be in the valley at allSkylight should have been deleted when the garage was added on but the homeowner is making this our problemWe have told him what we could do to fix the issueIf he does not want to listen to our professional opinion what can we do? In conclusion we are not going to pay for any mold damage that has been going on since before the roof we installedAlso all of our roofs do have warranties that we stand behind, if our roof leaks and its our fault we will fix itBut in this case the skylight is not designed to be in the valley and should have been deleted before we ever put the roof onShould have been deleted when the addition was addedWe will continue to warrant the roof but will not warrant any pre existing mold damageIn addition to the owners potentially pre existing mold the owner failed to contact us and waited months before having the issue re addressed.Thank you

I did tell the homeowner I would return to make sure the sheetrock would be ok after paint had driedWe are still willing to have someone return there and address that issueIf the homeowner wants us to stand behind our work we will but he cannot tell us who can and cannot work for our companyHe needs to allow us to do our job on the warranted work if neededI do not accept the homeowners offerMy offer still standsI will accept him obtaining a free quote from a contractor of his choiceI will need pictures of the problems before I pay for any kind of repair estimateWe would have returned to inspect ourselves but the homeowner didn’t want our workers there to do soWhich is why I want him to get some pictures taken and get a quoteI’m not going to just write a settlement check so he can get paid and then not perform work and spend the moneyI will not give a cash refund on a construction jobHe needs to allow us to inspect and repair (if a repair is even needed) or have someone else come in and look at it, take pictures and send to me with a priceI want to make sure the job is corrected, (if it even needs to be corrected)Not going to just cut a checkNot happeningIf I cut a check it will be because the job has been fixed by another contractor of his choice with before and after photos “if there is anything wrong with the work in the first place”

Initial Business Response /* (1000, 12, 2015/09/03) */
I attached/uploaded my response to complaint. I Called Mr. [redacted] and we talked about how the chimney was a bad design which caused the leak. It was not my roof that caused the leak. He said he would talk to his wife about removing the...

complaint.

I have phone call recorded between [redacted] the homeowner and I. In the phone call I told him I would send the installer back out for free to correct any issues. [redacted] told me he didn’t want the installer back out on his property so I told him if he is not going to allow my company to stand behind the work...

then he needs to have a contractor of his choice take photos of the problems he is alleging and include those with a quote from that contractor and I’d be happy to pay for the corrections. I was not aggressive in any way, just trying to make [redacted] happy and resolve the issue. I will attach recorded phone call and emails between the homeowner and I. I was calm and willing to make corrections if there is any legitimate corrections to be made in the first place.   During our installation of the solar tube in the bathroom our employee nicked the ceiling with his sheetrock blade. I [redacted] the owner have already been out to fix that area, [redacted] the homeowner stood and watched me fix this and said it looked much better and paid me for the job. After I was finished I told him, “After the paint dries if he can still see where the sheetrock knife nicked the ceiling let me know and I would have someone come back out to address the issue for free” The flashing is installed properly according to the manual that came with the skylight. The flashing is not supposed to be caulked if installed properly. That is why flashing is used in the first place is so you don’t have to use caulking that will dry rot and crack over time from the sun and changing temperatures. I inspected the property before I got paid and did not find any trash on the ground. The shingles in his yard could have blown off of a neighbors house. In the recorded phone call I told him he was being recorded and that if he put the his complaint in writing to me in an email I'd be happy to correct any legitimate mistakes. I'm really don't think there is anything wrong out there but I'd be happy to go check or hire someone to check if he does not want me or my workers over there anymore. EMAILS:[redacted],No need to waste my time coming here.God forbid you would have to stand behind your company's work!I have hired someone to correct the half-as installation. [redacted], No need to waste my time coming here. God forbid you would have to ...Jan 30 (3 days ago)[redacted]<[redacted]@gmail.com>Jan 30 (3 days ago)I don't want to step foot back over there but we do stand behind our work. How about you send me a quote from the contractor of your choice on whatever corrections you need performed. If it's reasonable then I will pay it. I want supporting evidence that their is a problem with the quote. As in photos of the things that need to be fixed. I told you we would fix it. But then you said you don't want my workers back over there. Since you don't want us there. Get some quotes from people you do want and I'll review. Thanks.

Complaint: [redacted]
I am rejecting this response because:
The roof was not leaking when they replaced it. It leaked after the replacement and I had to contact them multiple times.  They keep saying that they told me that the skylight was a problem before the roof was installed.  I don’t recall them ever mentioning that. The business initially agreed to pay for the inspection and possible damages. Now they refuse to follow through. What kind of a warranty doesn’t pay for damages?  I have given the business plenty of opportunity to make this right.  Other consumers need to be made aware that this business doesn’t always stand behind their “warranty”.
Sincerely,
[redacted]

The homeowner admitted to previous damage due to the skylight before the roof had been replaced. In the attic next to the skylight there are markings from a previous contractor in sharpie that stated “leak fixed”. We do not use sharpies to mark our work. We suggested to remove the skylight and the homeowner did not want to. In July of 2017 was his first initial contact for the leak. We immediately sent a laborer to repair and we did not hear from him again until the end of February of 2018. At that time we came out as soon as he called with the issue to diagnose the leak. We had to put it on our schedule and order materials. After the materials arrived we performed the work all within 4 days of his last contact in regards to the leak. We repaired the skylight above and beyond the previous installation before our roof had went on, with additional security measures put in place to ensure a leak wouldn’t happen again. Due to the previous damage the homeowner admitted to, we will not be paying for a mold inspection/interior damages because the damage was prior existing to us coming on site. We believe we have stood behind the warranty 100%. We believe this homeowner is trying to cause torturous interference because we will not pay for his old prior existing damage.
