Review: May 22, 2016

In May 2015 I began shopping for a new car and during my on line search I found that Thompsons Chrysler Dodge Jeep Dealership of Placerville may have had what I was looking for. I called and spoke with [redacted] and I asked very specific questions of him in order to confirm the particulars of what I thought to be a pretty good deal- “ you have a 2013 Certified Pre-Owned black [redacted] Impala with less than 50,000 miles on it AND it has free trials of XM Radio and On Star?” The answer was yes. I mentioned that I’d found quite a few of these models at other dealerships that weren’t to my liking, however, this sounded promising. I asked why the car was priced so inexpensively, especially with the included benefit of a Certified Pre-Owned warranty. He told me they liked to stay competitive with the other dealerships. OK. Because I was still comparison-shopping, I didn’t schedule anything at that time however, I did speak with [redacted] on several different occasions before eventually making an appointment to meet with him. Not once during any of our conversations did he ever mention any changes to the vehicle package or any differences with the advertisement. He even told me he had driven the car and it drove great.

On July 24, I arrived at Thompsons with my pre authorization letter and check from [redacted]. After [redacted] had accompanied me on a test drive, I decided I would like to purchase the car. At this time [redacted] started the paperwork process. I asked him if they partnered with [redacted] and he said yes. I attempted to hand over the letter and check and he told me he didn’t need those and returned to his office. I thought him to be in the process of contacting [redacted] but, as I later found out, he was seeking alternative financing for me.

When it was time for signing [redacted] told me the car could not be sold as Certified Pre Owned. What?? I showed him the CPO checklist they had given me and he told me “that’s just something that we do” We had spoken earlier in the day before I drove up from Sacramento yet, by the time I arrived it could no longer be sold as Certified Pre-Owned? At what point did that happen? Was it before or after the test drive? He told me because they were a [redacted] Dealership and not a [redacted] Dealership, they couldn’t do it. Then why was it advertised that way? Was he unaware during our many conversations that he worked for a [redacted] Dealership and not a [redacted] Dealership? They began talking to me about replacement warranties, the remaining manufactures warranty, how they’d adjusted the price of the car to provide me an additional warranty and a wrap and so on and so on. I purchased the car and left there with the understanding that I had a warranty similar to a CPO one but for legal reasons it could not be referred to as that.

I called [redacted] within the first couple of weeks of buying the car to double-check the due date for the first payment and was shocked to learn that the car had been financed through [redacted] instead of my credit union! I requested [redacted] initiate a conference call with [redacted]. When we contacted him, he was evasive and exceptionally rude. When asked specifically why he told me the Dealership partnered with [redacted] and why he didn’t utilize the check provided by them, he wished me good luck with my refinance and hung up. Other attempts to reach him were unsuccessful, as he would not return any calls. I started the refinancing process with [redacted] following the conference call. [redacted] is now on my credit as a closed account.

Shopping my loan around was not only unnecessary but specifically something I did not agree to. I was very clear in my desire to finance through my credit union and [redacted]’s insistence in proceeding with this against my wishes makes me believe the Dealership reaped some monetary benefit by using an alternative source of financing. Moreover, his actions caused an additional hard inquiry from [redacted] on my credit.

When I began having problems with the car, I took in it for service and learned at that time that the warranty I thought I had, I didn’t have. The work on the car was going to cost me over $500.00. I was quite frustrated and was venting to the service advisor at Thompsons [redacted] Dealership about the short duration I’d owned the car and finding out that the warranty I actually had wasn’t going to cover the work. Interestingly enough, she said she didn’t know why the [redacted] dealership had purchased the car off of their [redacted] lot…. Otherwise the car would have been Certified Pre Owned and all of the work would have been covered. She recommended that I speak with, [redacted] the Sales Manager at [redacted]. I spoke with him and the first thing I explained was my experience with [redacted] and [redacted]. He told me that [redacted] no longer worked there. I wondered if his departure had anything to do with the way he conducted business? Not really. According to [redacted], he was commuting back and forth to work and it became too much of a hassle. So…it was an issue with his commute and not an issue with customer relations? My next query was why the car was not sold as advertised? [redacted] gave me the same flat answer I had gotten from [redacted] “Yea we are not a [redacted] dealership” He had two suggestions for me, he could put me in a new car, of course they’d have to run my credit again and my payments would probably increase, or, he could sell me an extended warranty. I was not too thrilled at either prospect…I wasn’t exactly sure what to do at this point, so I did a couple of test-drives… and nothing. [redacted] introduced me to [redacted], and told me he was the person who could assist me in purchasing an extended warranty. I was absolutely feeling ambivalent at this time, so I told [redacted] I was unsure and he suggested I think about it over the weekend and give him a call the following week. I called back the next week but [redacted] never returned the call. Notably, once I purchased the car, it was not an eaDesired Settlement: RESOLUTION

• Submit for review the original internet ad for this vehicle

• The Certified Pre Owned warranty applied to the vehicle as advertised on Thompsons website and confirmed by [redacted]

• [redacted] installed in the car as advertised on Thompsons website, documented in the CPO checklist and as confirmed by [redacted]

• A letter from Thompsons Jeep Chrysler Dodge acknowledging the lack of necessity for an employee to have “shopped” my loan around when I expressly declined interest in him doing so, particularly when I had a pre-approval letter and check. This documentation would assist me in removing the additional hard inquiry on my credit

• A refund of all costs for repairs that should have been covered under the CPO warranty

• An explanation as to why Thompsons website would list the car as sold as a CPO vehicle

• Arrange the transfer of the “disappearing deductible” to a Sacramento locale. Travel time adds an approximate additional 75 miles on the odometer.

Response:

To Whom it May Concern, I have reviewed the information provided by [redacted]. Here at Thompsons Crysler Dodge Jeep Ram we strive to make buying a vehcile a pleasant experience. With that said sometimes there can be misunderstandings by the parties involved. I would like to address the issues [redacted] has brought to our attention. I can understand the confussion on the certified vehciel as we also have a GM dealership and do have certified vehciles at that location. However this vehcile was purchased from the Chrysler Dodge Jeep franchise and unfortunately we can not offer GM certification through the Chrysler Dodge Jeep dealership. With this said it looks at though we included a Vehicle Extended Service Contract to help alleviate the problem at hand. The customer agreed and signed the documentation. As for the inspection report each dealership performs vehicle inspections similar to the certified inspections, it is our goal to sale the highest quality vehciles. The next complaint was the lender for the vehicle loan. It is very common practice for us to try and get better terms and condition for our clients and we disclose this at the time of sale and during the signing of all documentation. The next complaint was about the fact that the sevice advisor did not know why our Chrysler Dodge Jeep Franchise purchased the vehciel from the Buick/GMC franchise. This happens quite often as management may decide that a vehcile needs to be moved for a better opportunity to retail it. In the time frame that [redacted] started her buying process (May 22nd - July 26th) over 60 days the vehcile had been sent to a differnet location. With all this stated we never want to mislead a customer or cause them any undue stress. I would be more than happy to help [redacted] with the expense she had incurred and would be willing to discuss this at any time. [redacted] General Manager Thompsons Auto Group [redacted]

Response:

I am rejecting this response because Mr. [redacted], My reason for contacting Revdex.com is to seek accountability from Thompsons Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram Dealership because I believe they conducted business with me in a questionable manner. I am not unwilling to communicate with you directly, however, it is of the utmost importance for me to have a third party involved not only for the purpose of mediation but also as an unbiased presence until this matter is resolved. I feel the best way to do that is to ensure that our interactions are duly documented. Moreover, the fact that you have disregarded the request to provide a response to all of the issues brought to your attention, as well as evading several topics in the resolution piece of the complaint, concerns me. Obviously, all are important to me, but one is certainly more crucial than others, i.e. the advertisement of a CPO GMC vehicle on your website, pre and post sale. You have neglected to provide a concise response related to this question and you have failed to submit a copy of the internet ad for the vehicle. It is for these reasons that I prefer to continue to use Revdex.com as a liaison. Please find attached my reply to your submitted response to complaint. Sincerely, [redacted]

Business

Response:

I am writing to respond the the complaint from [redacted]. I am not sure what exactly I did not respond to? The complaint was about a vehicle purchased at Thompsons CDJR and why it was not certified. I have reviewed the file and see where they had lowered the price of a vehicle extended service contract to compensate for the certfied program. I do however see that the extended service contract did not provide the same coverage that the Certified coverage would have been. I would be willing to look at your receipts and reimburse you for anything that should have been covered by the Certified coverage. That coverage would have been for 12 months from the date of sale. The sale of the vehcile was on 7/24/15! Again the reason there was not certified coverage on the vehcile is the fact it is a GM product purchased from the Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram dealership. Chrysler will not allow us to certify a competative make product. Finally I would also reiemburse the leander for the amount of the service contract - provided it has not been cancelled prior to the 24th of July 2016. [redacted]

Response:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to my concern, and find that this resolution may be satisfactory to me. Although I still have additional questions one being...are you saying that the previous work done on the car would not have been covered? The receipts were submitted in our initial communications but I can provide you copies. At this point, I am willing to meet with Mr. [redacted] to discuss this further.

Review: I had purchased Toyota gap insurance from Thompson Toyota I end up refinancing my car with a different lender I called Toyota and cancelled June 5 2015 they said I would receive my refund for my gap insurance within 8 to 12 weeks I waited patiently. I have been calling now for serveral weeks leaving voicemails and talking to managers in the finance department nobody has got back to me to let me know the status. It is now October 27 2015 and nobody has contacted me back with the status of my refundDesired Settlement: I want a refund my refund was due to me with in eight weeks I cancelled my tyloyota gap insurance June 5 2015

Business

Response:

Tell us why here... We sincerely apologize for the delay in getting Ms [redacted] GAP refund. We apparently were missing the odometer statement as well as proof that account was paid in full. We have successfully processed her pro-rated refund from June 5th 2015 and instead of [redacted] waiting another 8 to 12 weeks for her refund, our dealership has cut her a check and we will wait to for the refund. Shanta is picking up her check today and again we apologize for the delay in getting this done in a timely manner.

Sinceraly, [redacted]

Review: After the Toyota airbag recall, we expressed a concern over safety to Corporate Toyota and was forwarded to Thompson Toyota in Placerville. We were told we would receive a rental car while they worked out the problem with the recall. Thompson Toyota has a working relationship with [redacted] Rental Car and a vehicle was driven to Thompson Toyota, per their request, for our family to use. Initially the vehicle was a Minivan costing 69.00 per day. We signed a contract with [redacted] stating we have the vehicle and that Thompson Toyota was the entity responsible to pay the bill. We were told there was no immediate fix for the warranty issue but would be contacted when completed. With the approaching winter and snow in our area; we requested a 4 wheel drive vehicle. This would be comparable to the large 4 wheel drive SUV we left with Toyota. We received a Chevy Tahoe from [redacted] with a new contract and still Thompson Toyota as the payee. The cost of this vehicle would be 89.00 per day. Four months later we received a call from a Thompson Toyota employee stating that we would now have to pay for the vehicle because it was out of their typical loaner car policy of 30.00 per day. This had never been mentioned before this date. We were told by a [redacted] Rep. that they had explained to Toyota they would decrease the price of the rental to the original cost of 69.00 per day. We were told by [redacted] that Toyota now refused that offer. [redacted] now states that we will be responsible for the outstanding bill of approx. 9000.00 to 12,000.00 dollars. Toyota placed us in this vehicle and sat on our repair for this extended amount of time. Note that when presented with the bill Toyota was able to "rush" our part in as little as one to two weeks with a cost of 39.00. We now are back in our personal vehicle but have been told by Thompson and [redacted] Rental Car that we will be responsible for the bill and or sent to collections if we do not agree to pay.Desired Settlement: We are requesting that Thompson Toyota pay the bill since they placed us in the rental vehicle. The vehicle that picked us up from Toyota was 69.00 per day which is over the 30.00 per day policy to begin with. Toyota extended the time for service to 4 months waiting for a part which had the ability to be "rushed" if needed or once presented with the bill. We feel that this was an agreement between Thompson Toyota and [redacted] Rental Car, not us, and we have a contract to prove it.

Response:

Hi [redacted], sorry for the slow response, it went to the owner only & he was out of town when it was originally sent. As for the customer complaint, they had two vehicles with the same recall. It entitled them to a rental for $35.00 per day, per vehicle if it was a Toyota, and $30.00 if other make. Customer got two rentals, one at the correct amount and another for a far greater amount. We didn’t authorize this increased amount. We told them that their complaint is with [redacted]. We did submit a special request to Toyota to cover the upgraded rental for this customer and it’s still pending approval. Thanks;[redacted]

Review: False Advertising.

I saw three cars online on Thursday, August 22 at 4pm and made arrangements with online sale rep [redacted] to see them on Friday morning. All were priced very low. Almost too good to be true. I was assured all three cars were available. I drove from Elk Grove to Placerville to see them. When I arrived at 9:30am at the dealership none of the cars were available. One was being detailed and could not be seen, the other one was nowhere to be found and third one was at a lot in Cameron Park even though it was advertised in Placerville. It was very obvious, they were advertising these great deals to lure in customers and then sell them something else.Desired Settlement: money for my gas and time.

Initial Business Response

Hello and thank you for letting us know about your experience. We take pride in the quality of service we provide. That being said, with our current inventory at nearly 600 vehicles in 3 physical locations we do our best to know at all times where each vehicle is in our system. I am sorry for the inconvenience that occurred with this specific incident. It is definitely an isolated case.

In response to the comment that our prices are "too good to be true pricing" yes, we are very aggressive in the way we market our cars. We offer high quality vehicle at very competitive prices.

I am positive that had the customer wanted to drive the vehicle at the Cameron Park store we would accommodated her. This is something we do several times a week. Whether it be taking the customer to the vehicle or bring the vehicle to the customer we are happy to do which ever the customer prefers.

The vehicle in the detail department could have also been shown and driven once the detail had been completed.

We honor all of our online pricing for each specific vehicle listed. We track market trends and price accordingly.

If you need any further information please contact me I will be happy to assist you.

I will also provide the customer on record with some compensation for her time and fuel. If she would like to pursue doing business with us she can contact me directly as well and I will be happy to assist wherever possible.

Thank you

Final Consumer Response

(The consumer indicated he/she ACCEPTED the response from the business.)

yes, I accept it. The representative from the dealership can email me at [redacted]@msn.com and I can supply my mailing address.

Final Business Response

I have attached a copy of our latest newspaper ad, where we have separated the vehicles based on location. I believe this will help our customers see where the vehicle they are interested in is located.

I am sorry that [redacted] still is still not happy with our process. We strive for excellence.

If I could be give some contact information for her, I will be happy to supply her with a pre paid Visa for the inconvience.

Thanks for your help in resolution,

Company states a check was not directed to the issuing department. It was completed on 10/25/13 and mailed that same day. Company representative called the consumer to notify her a check for $75.00 was being mailed. However, the consumer is still not happy, and wants more.

Review: The issue is that when I took my Highlander into [redacted]'s for service it was fine. After leaving I drove less than two miles and the check engine light came on. I returned to [redacted]'s and it had a broken vacuum line connector on the air filter box. They would not do anything about it and blame another dealer. They acted guilty about it and this is what a guilty person would do is to blame someone else. Attached are two letters, the first is the one I sent to [redacted]'s Toyota. The second letter is about the phone call I received from them about the letter.Desired Settlement: I want [redacted]'s Toyota to replace my air filter box top cover, with the broken vacuum connector, with a new one at no cost to me.

Business

Response:

I spoke with this customer about his concern with the air box, explained to him that we didn't remove his air box to perform the last service he was here for, and did point out that another Toyota store had performed a brake master recall that would require it to be removed. I did offer to split the expense of replacing it with him and he became aggravated, said he would only do that if we did it at dead cost. I explained to him that I cant purchase parts at cost and that the offer is at retail price only. he refused my offer.

Consumer

Response:

[redacted]'s Toyota in the "Message From Business" is playing word games when he says that they did not remove the air cleaner box. They removed the air cleaner box "cover" to check the air cleaner which is part of their multi-point inspection that they perform at no charge to look for more work need. The air filter box "cover" has vacuum connectors and sensors made into it. [redacted] stated to me that the air box cover had been removed in the multi-point inspection and sometimes the vacuum line comes off. He is the one who wrote my work order and said he though the vacuum line had been pulled off causing the "check engine" light to come on, and he is the one who fund it was broken. "The mechanic who came out and cleared the "check engine" light never looked under the hood. I guess he knew what was broken and did not want to look.

[redacted]'s Toyota the "dealer' does not pay retail for parts, and the minimum there offer should have been was at their cost for the air filter box "cover". Making it at the retail cost makes them a nice profit for braking my air filter box cover. [redacted] said it cost $500 and I called their parts department the next day and was quoted a price of $385.53 for the air filter box cover. I believe this means that the service department charges $114.47 (30%) more than the parts department for the same part at the same dealership. [redacted] agreed the patch on the vacuum would come apart when the cover was remove, but he said they would not tell me it w s broken because I would blame them. His statement logically also means that they would not admit they broke it. I paid them to tell what was wrong. what else have they broken and not told me about. They are the only dealer to work on my Highlander in the past two plus years.

I have searched the internet and found that it is not uncommon for this vacuum line to be broken when removing the air filter box "cover". They have been very rude to me since this happened and I believe they are this way because of y age, I am a senior and they think I am too old to by another new car.

The bottom line is that when I took my Highlander into [redacted]'s for service it was fine. After leaving I drove less than two mile and the engine check light came on I returned to [redacted]'s and it had a broken vacuum line connector on the air filter box "cover". They have acted guilty about it and did what a guilty person does by blaming another dealer.

Again attached are two letters, the first is the one I sent to [redacted]'s Toyota. The second letter is about the phone call I received from the. Please read them.

Business

Response:

Rather than rehashing the "he sais we said" issues, the fact remains that, according to the tech that worked on this vehicle and [redacted], the patching of the air box had been done years ago. can we prove that? No we cant.

A few facts that we would like to point out are; this vehicle has been serviced by multiple Toyota dealers and was service by Roseville Toyota on 6/18/12, (less than two years ago), to inspect the air filter requires opening the top of the air box and not removing it.

As far as Mr. [redacted]'s comment "I believe they are this way because of my age, I am a senior and they think I'm too old to by another car". I only spoke with him over the phone and have no knowledge of his age.

Our offer still stands, we will pay 50% of the air box replacement and install it for no additional cost. (you cant get just the cover through Toyota)

If Mr. [redacted] still isn't satisfied with the assistance we offered I would recommend he call [redacted] and schedule meeting with him to go over this matter.

Thank You;

Consumer

Response:

Fact: The offer to pay 50% is not a dealer cost but an inflated price. The parts department adds 100% to the price making it $385, and then the service department adds another 30% to the price making it $500 and this is the price they want me to pay half of. This gives them a nice profit for breaking the part on my Highlander.

Review: I purchased a 2014 Prius Plug-in at Thompson's because they aren't available in Colorado. I was told over the phone that I could drive it off the lot and not pay CA sales tax. When I arrived at Thompson's, I signed all the paperwork and was prepared to spend a long weekend enjoying the Sierra Nevadas. As soon as the sale was over, I was told I could not take possession of the car in California and that I would have to ride (in my new car) while someone else drove it to Nevada. At that point, after all of the time and money I spent getting to CA, I felt entrapped in the sale (and stranded in California). I asked if I could drive the car as I was concerned about breaking it in properly. They declined due to the chauffeur not feeling comfortable and reassured me the Prius did not have a break in period. On the drive, the chauffer drove reckless, and aggressively up the mountains to Lake Tahoe attempting to keep up with the other driver. I was again concerned about breaking in the car properly and when I expressed my concern to her, I was told "There isn't a break in period on new cars". After all of this, the driver broke the law, put my life and property in danger by taking a personal call on their cellphone for over 5 minutes while driving. Once in Nevada, I felt physically sick, frustrated and concerned about the abuse the new car went though. When I returned home, I was surprised to see there IS a break in procedure explicitly detailed in the manual. All of the recommended procedures were not adhered to in the first drive up to Tahoe by the Thompson's employee even after I had asked them to drive the car gently. I called Thompson's immediately and they said all I needed to do was get an oil change. I then escalated this issue to Toyota Corp. who told me that someone from Thompson's would reach out to me with 48 hours. I've been ignored since.According to Toyota the longevity of my vehicle has been compromised. I was not able take delivery of the New car I agreed to purchase.Desired Settlement: I would like Thompson's to realize customer's are people and deserve to be treated as such. It isn't fair to gain sales by lying and cheating people.Since the car that was delivered to me was not the car I agreed to buy, I do not consider myself the "owner" of said car. I have not driven the car since I returned home to Colorado and read that their is indeed a break-in period. The car is at my residence, unregistered without title awaiting pickup from the dealership.

Business

Response:

After reviewing Mr. [redacted] concern, and completing an internal investigation from the involved employees, Thompsons Toyota has the following response:

Mr. [redacted] was given the opportunity to drive the vehicle directly from the dealership to his home state of Colorado providing he pay California state tax and attain a one way trip permit in lieu of paying California registration; he declined to pay California state sales tax so he could exercise this option.

Mr. [redacted] did accompany the delivery driver [redacted] (who is 78 years old) to Nevada to complete his paperwork and take delivery of the vehicle outside of California. Mr. [redacted] accepted his vehicle at state line, signed the necessary documents and drove home to Colorado without incident. Mr [redacted] had no communication with the managers prior to leaving Nevada about his concerns. It was not until after Mr. [redacted] was home in Colorado that he contacted the dealership to raise his concerns.

After speaking with both [redacted] and [redacted] separately both employees stated that they did not drive aggressively and furthermore because of the nature of the road (inclines and turns) that it would be difficult to drive in such a manner. Both [redacted] and [redacted] have been driving for our company for over nine years without complaint. The dealership sells many vehicles to out of state residents due to our competitive pricing and has not had a similar complaint. This is what the Prius owner’s manual states: none of these recommendations were exceeded.

Breaking in your new Toyota

To extend the life of the vehicle, the following precautions are recommended to observe:

For the first 200 miles (300 km):

· Avoid sudden stops.

For the first 600 miles (1000 km):

· Do not drive at extremely high speeds.

· Avoid sudden acceleration.

· Do not drive at a constant speed for extended periods.

It is our belief to try and make all of our customers as happy as possible and have achieved that for over 25 years in the car business. We have very high scoring CSI and VDQ rankings, as well as a multiple year recipient President’s Award. We did reach out to Mr. [redacted] and offered that we compensate him for an early oil change if he felt something went wrong with his delivery, a position that is not shared by the dealership at this time. Mr. [redacted] declined the offer of service and stated that the only compensation he would accept was a free seven year 100,000 mile warranty. Mr. [redacted] was given the opportunity to purchase the same warranty prior to delivery but declined the purchase.

In summary, Thompsons Toyota has completed this investigation and has found no fault or reason to further compensate Mr. [redacted]. We will in good faith honor the offer of reimbursement of an oil change if he would like to accept the gesture on behalf of the dealership.

Sincerely,

Consumer

I am rejecting this response because:

Review: Went in to dealership looking for truck. Dealership didn't have truck said they could bring it in from area. Began loan paperwork and was offered loan with only one bank that I did not want to do business with. Informed dealer of this. Dealer still submitted paperwork with said bank three days after they were told I would be going in to my own bank to procure loan. Deal didn't go through for the truck. A week later I get a bill in the mail for the truck loan with the bank I didn't want to do business with for a loan I never authorized and a truck I never drove off their lot. Contacted bank and they told me to get dealer to retract loan as they had the money. Contacted dealer; left messages and sent email. If loan is not retracted, this will ruin my credit.Desired Settlement: I would like the dealer to retract the loan with a bank I never authorized for a truck I never drove off their lot. In addition, I would like a letter from the dealership saying they rectified this situation for the credit bureau.

Hi [redacted],I received in the mail today a notarized letter from B of A stating the account had a zero balance and the last transaction on it was completed on 12/30/2015, when it was paid in full zeroing it out. Thanks,[redacted]

Went to this Dealership for a Misfire in engine, causing the Transmission to go into limp mode.

They charged me 4 Hours for Diagnostics for a total bill of 1015.82 cents. They put a couple of sensors on and did not fix the problem.

When I paid and left it went 10 miles and it starting misfiring worse than ever before. It was running great when I went in there. I finally was able to get back. After renting a car for several days and waiting when I got it back it still was going into the limp mode.

This is the worst case of over charge I have experienced in my 76 year life and after owning all kinds of Trucks, Airplanes, Boats, and Heavy Equipment. Presently I own 300 Chrysler, Jeep Commander hemi 4x4, the this 2004 Jeep Rubicon Wrangler.

The employees were nice but just did not know what they were doing.

I would recommend Don't go there unless you like being ripped off.

I will never go back there for any reason.

Review: I put in an offer on 2002 [redacted] x5 (4.6 rare car) for $6500.00 they countered at $6800.00 & $400.00 shipping at around 11:00 am on 3/16/16 was just waiting for total with fees, they called me at around 5:15 and said sorry we sold the car and the customer paid full asking price . The price the other customer paid is not important it the point we already had a deal . They said they would bring the car & sign papers to me in Lake Havasu Arizona, but now the say it's not a deal until you take delivery . They had control of my delivery it was going on their truck and trailer .Desired Settlement: I think they should find another 2002 [redacted] X5 4.6 in the same color and condition and finish our deal , and I already gave that option they don't think they should have to . My other option is I find it one my own and they can pay the difference over $6800.00 . They sold the one I was buying for around $900.00 more than I was paying .

Review: I had my own financing and dealer ran my credit without my knowledge after I had told them I am not applying for financing.

I purchsaed a 2014 Toyota Corrolla Le from this delaership. I notified [redacted] the guy that took me on the test drive I was not applying for financing with them because I already had an approval with another lender. I even gave them the Lenders check. Because my lender refused to fund the loan for the first vehichle I Was interested in which was a used toyota corrolla sport because their listed price was over the kelley blue book value of the car. The lender would only fund if they dropped their price or I obtained a new car. So I got the new car. But they declined to tell me they were running myu credit behind the scenes after I told them no.

This is the email I sent to them below..

Why was my credit ran several times by your dealership? I was very clear with [redacted] or [redacted] what ever his name is that I am not applying for a loan, I already had one, which was funded by my loan company. Now I'm getting letters from banks telling me thanks for my loan application but it is denied. When I asked [redacted] why he needed information from me like references and my social security number, employment information he told me it was because there are new laws for buying a car and the government just needs to be sure you arent money laundering, or terrorist, or crap like that ..I am trying to rebuild my credit and the multiple attempts by toyoya, bank of america, wells fargo and someother company is damaging to my credit rebuilding.

This is unacceptable. I was absolutley clear when I came in I was not reapplying and that I have my own loan. This guy has turned out to be a nighmare for me. This is a ruse and designed to get access to the customer's credit report in order to qualify a customer to various finance sources. OFAC requires dealers to screen cash buyers to make sure they are not on a government terrorism watch list. The patriot act cleary states only if I am a cash buyer of $10k or more.

I received a voicemail from a [redacted] today telling me its their policy practice to run everyone's credit regardless of if you want them too or not..Desired Settlement: Written apology as to their disonest practice

[redacted] did purchase a vehicle from our Toyota store on 12/1/2013. During the sale process [redacted] was very rude and heard by several employees cursing and repeatedly yelling loudly on our showroom floor. The Sales Manager on duty asked her to calm down so he could explain the process and what was needed to complete a transaction. He told her several times that she did not have to purchase from us if she was not happy with the her bank's terms. She insisted she would be leaving in a car that day, and had no other ride home. The Sales Manager told her we did have other options for financing that she could use and possibly lower her interest rate and down payment requirements. She agreed to allow us to explore those options, so that she could drive a car home that day. At that time we collected her SSN# and pertinent information necessary to complete the application. Thompsons Toyota ran her credit one time, and submitted her information to a few lenders in an attempt to get her the best terms possible. We routinely submit a customer's information to more then one bank as a benefit to the customer. Our goal is to find a competitive interest rate, preferred down payment and longest term available. During the selection process some banks may approve or decline a customer for various reasons (examples for decline would be Debt to income too high, insufficient down payment, time on job to short, or term length not available, just to name a few). [redacted] was turned down by a few of the banks we submitted her to, but was also approved by 2 banks. We selected the loan that fit her needs best (lowest down payment possible) and she took delivery and drove home.

I feel the dealership went above and beyond to accommodate [redacted]'s wishes to drive a new car home given the circumstances of credit and down payment she had to work with.

I have collected 5 other examples where a customer was submitted to more then one bank and the bank's decisions of approval or decline. If you would like to see them, I can forward this information to your office. All personal/private information has been omitted.

[redacted]'s new Corolla came with 2 years free maintenance, if she would like to use our service department we would be happy to service her vehicle for scheduled service. We do also provide a complementary exterior car wash at the with each service.

Thank you for your time.

I am appalled by this imflammatory response. At no time was I cursing or yelling at anyone. I did indicate that I was upset that the person who took me to test drive the car was not knowledgeable about the buying process and had he provided my loan approval information earlier in day when I gave it to him over the phone toyotta would have known before I even walked in the door that I would have needed to select a different vehichle than the blue toyota corolla sport that I was origianlly interested in. I sat quitely in the office while they continued to go back and forth on trying to get me to put down cash deposit. There was another family in the small office I was in working on their deal as well. Eventually I waaited in the lobby/showroom where there were also 2 other customers being helped. It was dark and closing time. It was extremeley quite in their except for the people who were still trying to finalize or negoitate their prices..I'm so disgusted and shock that a small community dealership would step to this level. I originally requested what my terms would be to remedy this, but now after the false nasty slandering of my name has now made this even more unacceptable. If they do not come up with a solution and a reason as to why they would make up fasle statements then I am taking this to court!! And trust me when I say, I am not backing down. My [redacted] what kind of buisness does this to customers... I'm sure I am not the first they have done this too. And to have [redacted] make up such horrible lies is disguting. Then they send me several emails asking me how was my experience with my purchase. ASking me to complete their survey on how my process was and to call them with any questions or concerns or to schedule car maintenence appts..For a customer who you claim to act in such a nasty and rude way you sure go out of your way after the fact... I'm so disappointed and appalled by this. I will ensure that every future customer going into that dealership is not assaulted with such lies and deception again.
