Dear [redacted],This letter is in response to the letter I received from your office dated July 17, 2014, concerning a complaint filed by [redacted], about a vehicle he purchased on June 06, 2014.[redacted] purchased this vehicle from Those Car Guys...
LLC, an independent car dealership, at which I am a licensed sub-contractor car salesman. [redacted] claims that he was "misled" about the condition of the car. This simply is not true. I personally handled the entire transaction with [redacted] test drove the 2002 [redacted] that he ultimately purchased that day. At the completion of the test drive [redacted] indicated an interest in buying the car, but pointed out that the air conditioning did not seem to be working, and one tire was low on pressure. I told [redacted] that we could charge the A/C unit with refrigerant and inflate the tire. He did have concerns that these would not be permanent repairs, and he requested to negotiate the price of the car in consideration for taking the car in its present condition. We mutually agreed on a $300 reduction on the price of the car. When I retrieved the title to the car, I realized that it was a reconstructed title. I explained to [redacted] that at some point the car had been involved in an accident, and as a result an insurance claim was made on the vehicle and was repaired. We had a 20 to 30 minute discussion about this, I told [redacted] I did not have all of the details about exactly what had been repaired on the car. I offered to give him the Vin number to the car if he wanted to research it further. He declined, said he was satisfied with the condition of the car, and that he wanted to take it home that evening.I have enclosed copies of the bill of sale and the buyer's guide that was in the window of the car. Both of these documents, that [redacted] signed, clearly indicated that the car was sold in its as is condition, and that no warranties were given or implied. Also enclosed is a copy of the title that [redacted] signed that is imprinted with the word "reconstructed" 4 times. Given the fact that we had a lengthy discussion about the reconstructed title, and that he signed the reconstructed title, [redacted] has no claim that he was unaware of this fact. The repair issues in his claim were also discussed, and he was compensated for those at the time of purchase.Hopefully this information will resolve this misunderstanding, I truly believe this is simply a case of buyer's remorse by [redacted] several weeks after the fact, and unfortunately he is trying to remedy this by making false accusations.Warm Regards,
Ed C.

Review: I purchased a 2002 [redacted] from Ed C[redacted] and was very mislead about the car. The main issue is that I was never told that this car has a reconstructed title and that it was totaled. I was also told that the air conditioner was working properly and it does not. Also, a front tire was flat and he pumped it up but it had a tare in it and shortly thereafter it went flat. Had I known this information, I would not have purchased this vehicle. Ed C[redacted] is a private dealer/owner with Those Car Guys.Desired Settlement: I would like a full refund of vehicle, tax, tags, title, registration, air conditioner and tire service totaling $2,900 or he can give me a different car worth around the same price.
