Threaded Beauty Reviews (13)

I think there has been some miscommunication as I have been to Threaded Beauty three times. Please see the Yelp review I posted that is far more detailed as I wrote it contemporaneously. (see below) My very first time at Threaded Beauty was 2/6/16. I filled out a questionnaire and let [redacted] know I had never had eyelash extensions. She knew right up front I knew nothing about eyelash extensions. I walked in with only my natural lashes (which are not sparse as she suggested to explain her improper technique) Her Groupon was for a full set of synthetic lashes. I get there and she starts saying how bad “synthetic” lashes are. She talked up the non-synthetic Mink lashes for an extra $80. She never informed me they were synthetic or I would not have wasted my money. Sorry I had my dates and $ amounts wrong but I have now dug up all my documentation to set the record straight. See credit card statement for 2/6. I already sent you the Groupon for 2/6 where she calls it Mink lashes not synthetic Mink. (That is a huge legal no no from what I am hearing from the DA’s Consumer Affairs Dept). I went back on March 6th for a “fill” and paid $60. I sent you that credit card receipt already. I purchased another Groupon for a “full set” of synthetic lashes and went back on March 29th. I only needed a fill and I figured it wouldn’t be a big deal to use the Groupon since a fill takes less product and less time than a full set. [redacted] flat out refused to take the Groupon but I went ahead with the fill since I needed it done. I was charged $55 on that visit (I sent that receipt) for a fill with Mink lashes. I decided to never go back. I went to another Esthetician and learned the lashes were synthetic and not done correctly. Not sure what all this back and forth is going to accomplish. [redacted] is not going to admit she broke the law. But the public needs to know she is not ethical and does not do good work.

I paid for the groupon and what they have is advertisement the coupon never stated what size and I did tip the girl for her time who would get lash extensions that are shorter than ther own lashes that's why they are called lash extensions I sent a picture if what I looked like when they were done and I didn't look any different they had already taken my payment before services were done and then told me it would dollars more to upgrade immediately after leaving threaded beauty I went to love your lashes in roseville to see if they could fix what threaded beauty had done three girls that worked and owner of that shop said they could not believe that I had eyelash extensions done and all three of those lady's had eyelash extension on themselves they also suggested I get a refund but could not help me unless I paid to get them removed $or waited six weeks or more for them to fall out when I left the salon I felt horrible at the service I just got

On March 5, at 3:30pm, *** came in for the eyelash extension serviceI greeted *** and brought her back to my room to inform her on which lash set she would be gettingWe offer different curls
"D" and "J" curl and different sizes of lashes 8mm, 10mm, 12mm and 14mmI informed her that the groupon lashes would be shorter than her natural lashes and she would have to upgrade to longer ones
*** told me that she wasn't prepared to pay extraI said, that's fine and I offered the "J" curl which is not curly and very natural looking but since they don't curl, they are a bit longer than the 8mm "D" curl lashesI showed her the lashes before I applied themSo, once the service was done, I put the sealant on and gave *** the mirror to look at her new lashes and she liked themI didn't hear about her being displeased with them while she was in the room with meI talked to her about maintaining the lashes and fills and tipped me $
On March th late evening Christine came in yelling asking me (pinder salon owner)to refund all her money back because she wasn't happy with her lashes I tried to explain to her she got the lashes that she purchased from groupon and that she paid groupon $not Threaded Beauty I told her I could give back her the tip she left with esthetician and give the break down from what we get from groupon she refused to reason with me and started threating to close down my salon.*** was being disrespectful to the regular clients waiting to get their services done by saying, Don't get your service done hereThat's when one of the stylist said, Ma'am, you got exactly what you bought from groupon

*** came into the salon on March 29th with a groupon for a FULL SET of synthetic eyelash extensionsShe arrived with a set on already (since it was nearly months ago) I'm not sure if she had the initial set done here or at another salon, either way the groupon mentioned was not for a fill
but a full setI let her know that and let her know her options were to either do a new set or a fill and she could either use her groupon another time, give it to a friend as a gift or get a refund from grouponI am sure I informed her that I don't like to do fills on top of other estheticians work (because of situations like this) after looking through our records we found her transaction and she was charged $which is the charge for a week fillI amIt sure if she left a tip and maybe that is where the 60$ price came fromi am including a picture of the exact lashes that I used on ***They are a 10mm mink set of individual lashesThere are a few different things I'd like to respond toThere are several different types of lash extensions, I use what is most commonly used which are "synthetic mink" basically the fake fur version of Siberian Mink lashes.
http://borboletabeauty.com/blogs/news/60107717-mink-silk-and-faux-mink-extension... /> there is a great reference link explaining the different lashesHardly any estheticians use real Siberian mink lashes as they are extremely expensive (definitely not $14)
there are also several different techniques for applying lashes which the esthetician she saw after should have been aware of if she has done any training with a reputable lash company.
http://www.ailashes.com/2014/05/02/capping-stacking-and-volume-lashing/
here is a great article explaining several different techniques used by many licensed estheticiansWhen a client comes in with sparse natural lashes and wants "full lashes" stacking or Russian volume lashes are a safe way to achieve that look.
So in closing it is unfortunate that she was not happy with the service she had done by me, I want everyone to walk away feeling beautiful and happy with the service they receivedWith that being said I cannot refund her $for several reasonsI believe I gave her the best possible service working with the lashes she already had onI did not "refuse" to accept her grouponIt was not for a fill but a full setI am upset by the allegations she has made and there is absolutely no way to know if her "permanent lash loss" was from this salon or any of the other lash salons she has used groupons for.
I truly wish she would have called within the first few weeks of having the lashes done so I could have explained the different lashes used and also different techniques used in the lash industryMaybe we could have done something she would have been happy withBut at this point almost months after the initial service and having no way of knowing what she has had done to her lashes from March 29th until now I am not going to be able to issue her a full refund for the $dollars.
Thank you

We mailed out a check on March 8th for $50:for the deposit for 3D hair strokes *** called stating she never received the check and that she doesn't always get her mailWe mailed another check out on May 20th for another $50:i have attached the checks that were sent to

I feel there is a miscommunication somewhere, like I said before, [redacted] came in with a groupon. She already had lashes on so I discussed her options and she choose to get a fill. Like I explained to her groupons are for full sets. We did not scan her groupon that is why she was able to get a refund through groupon. I did not have to "talk her into" any lashes with the fill she received bea cause the length she had on was 10mm, I only carry 10mm in the mink lashes. It was $55 for the fill, like I said before the $60 may be with tip included. I included a picture of the lashes used on her and it clearly says "mink" the lashes I use are al oust always referred to as "mink" not synthetic mink. It is very hard to find someone who uses Syrian mink and they run about 300-400$ for a full set, but this is all beside the point because she received a fill at our salon not a full set. Yes we may have talked about different types of lashes while we were discussing her options with the groupon, in the end [redacted] choose to get a fill not full set. She was charged the 3 week fill price for a set of 10mm lashes. She received a refund on her groupon. I do wish she would have contacted us directly or Revdex.com soon after her service if she wasn't happy. Perhaps we could have figured something out that we were both comfortable with.

I am rejecting this response because: I didn't know there were different types of waxes and the type of wax used on the sensitive bikini area is more gentle. I relied on the mistaken impression that I was going to a professional who would use appropriate product or explain that another esthetician uses a more gentle wax for such a sensitive area and I would have immediately accepted that offer. Upon checking out I was offered to purchase additional '[redacted]' or packages of '[redacted]' from the business.  Of course this would not have been a "[redacted]" and was a complete lie. No one can buy [redacted] directly from a business, but must instead purchase through [redacted].com.  I confirmed this is explictly the only way to do this and any business offering [redacted] for purchase through them directly are in violation of [redacted] policies and agreements with businesses that [redacted] has partnered with.I first called when I got home the day of the service as quite a few lashes fell out on my drive from the business to my residence. I was told this was normal! But to call back in a few days if there continued to be an issue.  The $15 charge for sealing the lashes was not indicated in any paper work I signed. There was specific product ingredients to refrain from using, but when I asked [redacted] about moisturizers and face products, she said, "Oh ignore that paperwork. We just have to make you sign stuff. You can use anything but mascara especially with having this sealer."  I still didn't want to risk losing additional lashes prior to the upcoming weekend, so I didn't shower for 40 hours after getting the lashes put on.  They continued to fall out rapidly.  I called in daily. The business was closed several times that I called. I reminded the person answering the calls that I had called her upon arriving home the day of my service and that she had said to call in a few days if there continued to be an issue. When I called and reached her a few days after my first call, I had at that point lost 50% of the lashes on 1 eye and 75% on the other eye and it had only been a few days. I said I didn't trust the esthetician after the bait and switch tactics with the eyelash [redacted] and then with the MOST PAINFUL brazilian wax I had ever encountered in my life! And then learning what kind of wax she had used. Adding to that, she refused to apply pressure to the skin after ripping off hair and skin due to the type of wax she used.  She said she would have [redacted] call me.  [redacted] called, but I was working and unable to answer at that time.  I called back when I was able and [redacted] was unavailable.  I left a message for her to call.  I explained I didn't trust her skills or products when lashes were nearly completely gone in 3 days! I wouldn't risk my eyes or the time involved to return. Please refund my money.  I then booked an appointment with a reputable salon for eyelash extensions.

Review: [redacted] the Esthetician at this salon did synesthetic eyelashes for me. She convinced me "mink" lashes were better and I paid an extra $60. I later went to a different Esthetician who informed me the lashes I had were not mink but synthetic and that [redacted] had attached several lashes to each of my natural lashes which is an incorrect technique and can result in pulling out my lashes. I ended up going to a different Esthetician because [redacted] very rudely refused to accept a Groupon I purchased for her services. A Groupon she initiated and advertised for. Luckily Groupon refunded my money. [redacted] has several poor reviews on Yelp. She ripped me off and could have caused me to permanently lose my natural lashes because she doesn't know what she's doing. I'd like my $60 back.Desired Settlement: I want my $60 back since I didn't get what I paid for.

Review: I paid a deposit in the amount of $50 for 3D hair stroke service on December 14, 2015. I cancelled my appointment a few weeks prior to my appointment. I lost the credit card I had paid the deposit with, so the refund could not be processed with that card; therefore, the business owner [redacted] emailed me stating me that my refund check would be sent out. I contacted them when the check didn't arrive, and they claim that the check was sent out and must have been lost in the mail. I have contacted them several times since then, and they refuse to give me my refund. It is now May 23, 3016, and I have not received my refund. [redacted] also doesn't reply any of my emails.Desired Settlement: I want my $50 refund returned to me.

Review: I went in for lash extensions and paid $60 and didn't look any different when I walked out they refused to give me a refund and it caused some of my real lashes to also fall out and I spoke to the owner and she refused to correct the problem and then her one of her stylist at her salon started yelling at me and threatening me and told me too bad it it's my problem for going and getting a Groupon what kind of service did I expect debt with that kind of coupon it's hard to believe it a business like that would even stay open after treating customers like thatDesired Settlement: I would like a refund for the The $60 I paid and the $49 for the cost to get the remaining lashes removed no other salon will see me until because of the lot of the way I have the lashes they put on

On March 5, 2015 at 3:30pm, [redacted] came in for the eyelash extension service. I greeted [redacted] and brought her back to my room to inform her on which lash set she would be getting. We offer 2 different curls "D" and "J" curl and 4 different sizes of lashes 8mm, 10mm, 12mm and 14mm. I informed her that the groupon lashes would be shorter than her natural lashes and she would have to upgrade to longer ones. [redacted] told me that she wasn't prepared to pay extra. I said, that's fine and I offered the "J" curl which is not curly and very natural looking but since they don't curl, they are a bit longer than the 8mm "D" curl lashes. I showed her the lashes before I applied them. So, once the service was done, I put the sealant on and gave [redacted] the mirror to look at her new lashes and she liked them. I didn't hear about her being displeased with them while she was in the room with me. I talked to her about maintaining the lashes and fills and tipped me $20. On March 6 th late evening Christine came in yelling asking me (pinder salon owner)to refund all her money back because she wasn't happy with her lashes I tried to explain to her she got the lashes that she purchased from groupon and that she paid groupon $36 not Threaded Beauty I told her I could give back her the tip she left with esthetician and give the break down from what we get from groupon she refused to reason with me and started threating to close down my salon.[redacted] was being disrespectful to the regular clients waiting to get their services done by saying, Don't get your service done here. That's when one of the stylist said, Ma'am, you got exactly what you bought from groupon.

Review: Christmas 2014 I received a Groupon for 6 wax services from Threaded Beauty. I had never had a wax preformed and was excited. The first time I went, the woman who preformed the service was rough & unfriendly. The wax was too hot and I was burned. I walked out sore and bleeding. I figured It was just me being new to waxing and my intimate area was just sensitive. The second time I was met with the same rough & unfriendly result. Walked out sore and bleeding. I still had 4 more vouchers. When I called for a 3rd appt. I asked to see someone else. TB obliged and set my appt with the other esthetician. The woman who rendered the remaining 4 vouchers was friendly, professional and gentle. I've been going to her since Jan 2015.The prices of the cost of the wax has gone up over the months. In order to "save money" TB encourages you to pre-pay for 3 waxes at a time. Ive done that 2x with out any problems. This last time, is where things get messy. I purchased 3 wax services in July at $20 each (normal price for one wax being $29). Ive used one voucher in July. I got a call from the waxer that Ive been going to since Jan. saying she's no longer with TB and to get your money back for the remaining vouchers If I were still interested in being her clientele. I attempted to get my money back today (8/17/15) and was met w/ "our policy says we don't refund on promo services". & bc there is another person the provide the service we don't need to refund your money. Being waxed is an intimate service. Ive found a woman who is professional and gentle and Im not willing to compromise my body in order to use the remaining vouchers. I just want my $40 back.Desired Settlement: None of the other services Threaded Beauty provides are of interest to me. I don't thread my brow. They do have a nail service but I have a long standing relationship with a nail tech already.I'd just want a refund of the $40 that remains ($20 each voucher) of the last two vouches.

Review: Purchased [redacted] for brazilian wax. Issue with this was wrong wax used for bikini/brazilian wax area causing extreme pain. Service provider repeatedly dipped the same utensil into the wax while applying to the perineal area. This is a health risk! [redacted] for eyelash extensions was to include a full set of eyelash extensions. After waiting 15 minutes after my appointment time I was brought back to have eyelashes applied only to be informed that the eyelashes offered with a [redacted] are not extensions at all. I was told for [redacted] purchases all they had were an "inferior quality lash shorter than your own short lashes and there would be no point in applying them. They are extremely uncomfortable and will give no extension result." I was told that the actual extensions cost an additional $60 for the shortest extension or $90 for longer extension. Totally false advertising and bait and switch tactic. I was stuck there having driving a distance and scheduling for an upcoming function. The $60 lashes were applied. As they were drying I was told it would be an additional $15 for a sealant to allow the lashes to get wet for showering, face washing, sweating, etc and to make them last the 3-5 weeks. Upon leaving and for the next 2 days the lashes are falling out at a rapid rate and not lasting even 1 week of the 3-5 weeks I was told they would last. Also the advertised price for lashes without a [redacted] was only $35 (I paid $37 for [redacted], which was to be at least 50% off regular lash prices). Again advertised extensions will not get you extensions. Bait and switch. Must upgrade to actual extension lash on top of the offer price to get you in the door. [redacted] reviewers all state the same activity of bait and switch on eyelashes! As well as the incorrect harsh wax and double dipping the applicator into the wax!Desired Settlement: I paid the cost of 2 [redacted]s (eyelashes $37 & Brazilian Wax $20). In addition to those costs I had to pay the minimum $75 to receive the extensions that were advertised on the [redacted] including a cost to allow the ability to shower for the next 3-5 weeks after the application. I want a refund of the $75 paid directly to the business as well as the $57 cost of the [redacted]s.

Response:

There is no right or wrong wax for Brazilian waxes, it depends on where you go and what you prefer. I use soft wax. The client should have spoke up and said she didn't want that type and we could have easily put her with an esthetician that uses hard wax. I only double dip at the end of the wax pot when I will be throwing it out after. I should have made that clear And have since changed my procedure. She could have spoke up if she had concerns and I would have let her know that I wouldn't be using it on another client and that previous clients I had used several sticks and would not double dip. I have several sizes and types of eyelash extensions at several price points, which is common practice. No one is every pushed into upgrading, and I have several clients who get the "doll lashes" which are the ones on special, and are happy with them. I have pictures of you would like to see them, there isn't an option to upload here. The lashes are to be kept completely dry fro the first 24 hours, I would never have said she could not shower for 3-5 weeks. I do however offer a waterproof sealant for an additional 15$ so that the client can shower immediately. ALL of this information is on the legal form the client is given prior to the appointment and has the opportunity to addresse any concerns or questions. The client did call 7 days later and say she had some falling out, on the form she signed at the beginning of the service it states she has 72 hours to call with concerns and we can fix them free of charge, however we offered to make an appointment and fix them completely free of charge. The client was extremely adamant about wanting her money back, it was after that and reading here on the report that she got them done for a "upcoming function" that I began to realize she had gotten them done in hopes she could get her money back after her event. She left the salon completely happy and without complaint.

I still didn't want to risk losing additional lashes prior to the upcoming weekend, so I didn't shower for 40 hours after getting the lashes put on.

Business

Response:

We have been going back and forth on this. [redacted] is a licensed esthetician and an independent contractor at Threaded Beauty Salon & Spa. When the services were preformed the client was completely satisfied. And a few days later when she called and informed us that a few of the lashes had fallen off we offered to schedule an appointment for her to return and have them fixed for free. But all she wanted was her money back. The salon policy is no fefunds or substitutions of service certificates or promotional vouchers. The client has been harassing the salon not only including herself but her bank as well. Client purchased groupon and did not have to upgrade. If she is looking for a refund it needs to be conducted through groupon. If she wasn't comfortable with the establishment she very well could have walked out the door.

Consumer

Response:

I am rejecting this response because: it is not accurate nor an appropriate response. Harass? [redacted] agreed this was not acceptable and businesses are not authorized to sell [redacted] directly to customers. This is in violation of Revdex.com practices as well as [redacted]. The California licensing board agreed that their practices were in violation of board of esthetiCian licensing and fined the business. I had to get the lashes redone elsewhere since they all fell out immediately. Revdex.com step up to the plate here.
