Hi ***,
Thank you for expressing your concerns and I am sorry that the processing of your bag did not meet your expectationsIt is true that we do not list items for their original retail price
We will take the original price for each
item and reduce it by 70-80% to get the list price on our siteWe then payout our selling members based upon that priceI have placed the link below that discloses exactly how much we pay for each accepted item in an effort to be fully transparent:
http://support.thredup.com/hc/en-us/articles/XXXXXXXXX-UPFRONT-Everything-you-ne... /> We did make a payout change as of June 1st but this was disclosed on the site and through other communication avenues several weeks ahead of time so that any members wanting the old payout schedule could send their bag prior to the cutoff date
We do offer return assurance that allows you to receive the items back that are not accepted however this does need to be opted in to prior to us receiving the bagIf return assurance is not requested for a bag when it starts processing, the items that can not be accepted are immediately separated from those that areWe do not hold on to these items and they are distributed among organizations that find homes for the items
Return assurance can be requested at the time of ordering a bag and at any time prior to us receiving the bag within your account at http://www.thredup.com/bags
I'm sorry again that the processing of your bag did not meet your expectationsWe do strive for all of our members to have a positive experience

Firstly, I would like to thank the Revdex.com for their help in resolving this conflictHowever, I am not satisfied at allI have emailed you several times and received the same response each yimeYou admit that you changed the payout policy in the middle of my transactionCorrect me if I am wrong, but it would be simply common courtesy to adhere to old practices for those persons who are in a go-between status like thisAs I have stated before, I believe that I should have been grandfathered in consideringI received the information about the payout change from your websiteIt was not processed to me in an email or any type of personal communication that I rememberTo say that you gave proper notice is because you only gave notice on the site that I just so happened to click onIt was something I noticed by chanceNothing has been right about this transaction from the way you have chosen to lower your payout to the fact that I tried to call you directly to sort this out, left a message and my call was never returnedI have asked for my items back, and offered to pay for return assuranceThredUp would not have been out any money because they could have billed the shipping to meThis was a reasonable requestTo take possession of something, however, when the other party requests it back, is no different than theftTo expect me to be satisfied with your meager payout when I had new items to send to you that you admit you only paid me 20% of the value for, is dishonestTo not grandfather me in due to your decision to make a payout change is wrongTo placate me, you have two options: ship me what is mine back and bill me for the shipping (that is, if you still have the items that I requested you remove immediately from your website for sale) and take your measly $back or send me the 70-80% of the retail value you kept for yourselves

ThredUp has continued to maintain that they are not at fault here, when they clearly areTo change a policy in the middle of a transaction is wrongTo expect a person to be satisfied when said policy clearly does not benefit them is wrongI have asked for my items back at my cost and this request has been deniedYou may stand by your twisted policies, but that doesn't make the situation rightIt is not my fault that processing the bag, which was your job, took well into the month of June to satisfyI ordered my bag and sent it in before the policy changed, unless I am mistaken, and hold firm to that truthYou can keep your policies but as for your $8.28, I don't want itI want 100% of the value of my items or my items backThis is not an unfair request

I sent in a bag of clothing to ThredUp, filled with clothes that still had tags on them as well as items that had been worn once with little to no signs of wear I figured I would get $or $for what was in the bag, so I chose the return assurance option thinking that I would still make something off what they kept even if they returned some stuff to me Boy, was I wrong They kept of my or so items, and paid me $So, after I pay them to return the items they didn't want, I am actually going to be paying them $for "buying" my clothes from me What's worse, is that in the email they send letting you know that your bag has been processed, and what your pay out is, they also include a list of what they kept After about hours, you can click on the items in the list and see the actual listing They paid me $for my items that they are now going to sell for a total of $ I totally get that they need to make a profit, but come on To make almost times what they paid me is a little ridiculous I feel like I was totally ripped off I will never sell to them again, nor will I make a purchase from them ever They do share about how much you will make off of what you are sending them, but you have to dig through their website to find that information, which makes them seem soooooooo shady They know they are taking advantage of people

DO NOT sell clothes here! You get pennies on the dollar and they make you wait days for your measly payout and charge 2% for paypal to process you so called profit! It is a win..win for this company who tried to make to make you believe they are doing good for the planet! No way they make a profit off what they sell your items for plus I am sure all kinds of tax credits for what they so call "donate"?
One sided greedy company!

I took a chance on your start upAnd you are proving you have a start up mentality by refusing to work with your vendors/customersYou have ruined any trust I would ever have in your companyI will tell everyone I know not to shop or sell with youIs this the type of business goal you have? Nickel and dime me but lose me and everyone I know forever?
Immediately after I saw the prices you listed my items for, that very same DAY, I emailed and phoned you to have them sent back to meYou ignored me and went ahead and sold my belongings within the same hour and week it took for you to respond
Since you can't send me back my things, I believe that forwarding me the fair market value of my stuff would be the reasonable resolutionYou sold my thingsYou got paid for themPlease reimburse me that amountYou were not authorized by me to sellYour website doesn't display your payout % until after the bag gets processedYou only added that info to the general FAQ after I filed my complaintBefore that, there were no FAQ for payouts
Show Revdex.com readers that you have integrityI am only talking about $50-hereSmall change on your side, but HUGE for an individual like meThose were my PERSONAL belongings that you sold without my permission

Initial Business Response /* (1000, 5, 2015/06/01) */
Hi ***,
Thank you for expressing your concerns and I am sorry that the bag processing did not meet your expectations
We do admittedly have strict standards on the quality of items that we acceptBecause we guarantee every item that
is sold on the site it is important for our processors to catch all quality issues prior to them being posted on the siteIssues such has excessive wear or fading, pilling, stains, holes, etccan not be accepted
We do our best to be transparent by noting these standards in our FAQ's and on the information that we send with every clean out bagI have placed a link below for reference:
http://support.thredup.com/hc/en-us/articles/XXXXXXXXX-QUALITY-STANDARDS-What-ca... /> Reviewing your bag details, it does look as though you sent some popular brands that we do accept however we could not accept several items due to quality issuesI have added a couple of screenshots that are closeups for some of the photos shared with you on the customer support ticket so that it is easier to see the stains in the underarms of some of the items that we could not acceptI do hope this helps
We do our best to accept all of the items that we can from every bag but they do need to meet our quality standards
Regretfully we can not pay for items that we can not acceptI'm sorry about thatFor future bags I would recommend opting in to return assurance so that any items not accepted can be returned to you after the bag is processed
Please let me know if you have any other questions or concerns

(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
ThredUp clearly did not carefully read my complaint. As I stated in my initial complaint, ThredUp already sent me the photos of all items that were declined with their explanation, claiming the items were damaged in some wayAs I explained previously, I went through those photos and found that their was no evidence of damage in the majority of the items listed as stained or piled; I would say about 3/of the itemsI would appreciate if the company read my complaint more carefully and took the time to provide an accurate and appropriate responseAs this is the same nonsense that I got when I complained to the company myselfIt is unacceptable response and a professional company would have actually read the complaint accurately in the first placeMy expectation is the company read the complaint and respond appropriatelyAs stated I have seen every single photo, not just a few select photos they chose to provide to the Revdex.com, and 3/of the clothing the company is claiming is damaged in some way shows no damage in the photosThis isn't about high standards, its about scamming customers, and as I said the large number of complaints online back that up loudly

I am frustrated that this company has again not really paid attention to my initial complaint or follow up response to their first responseI have twice now stated that I have seen all the photos several weeks ago when I first complained to the company and do not see the issues they claimAgain I read the standards for selling closely before sendingy closeAgain and hopefully for the last time I would like the company to address my complaint and not just repeatedly restate what I have already addressedI am clearly not the only customer that has felt scammed by this company as evident in the mass online complaints and they have yet to accurately read and response to my complaint after multiple attemptsI expect a response that address and does not side step my complaintPlease stop repeating what I already addressed multiple times and respond directly to my complaint

Complaint: ***
I am rejecting this response because:
My order status has NOT been changed to ‘delivered’ status as promisedTherefore I am unable to return items receivedThredUp continues to hold my payment without allowing me a chance to return these damaged or unwanted garments
I would like to take this opportunity to clarify that attempts were made by me to contact ThredUp not only via email, but also by telephone; the accumulated total equaling seventeen independent attempts to make contact, information included in my initial complaint to the Revdex.comon March 19th, one of ThredUp’s “advisors” DID NOT advise me that the package was ‘returned to sender’ after the initial shipmentI certainly did not return the package to ThredUpThe “advisor” DID NOT provide me with any explanation as to why the package had not arrivedThey DID ask me to confirm my mailing addressThey DID offer to refund my money at this point, which I declinedThis is a decision I have come to regret deeply
After receiving the order, only after I contacted the Revdex.com with my situation did ThredUp take any action at all, in spite of multiple attempts to contact ThredUp via email and telephone
*** from ThredUp contacted me on April 12, to request that I email her each and every item number of garments I wished to returnOn April 15, I responded with all item numbers as requestedI received no response, and emailed ThredUp and *** a second time on April 16,
In addition, ThredUp advertises free shipping for any month following a month in which $is spent on their siteIn both the April 15, and April 16, emails to ThredUp/*** I inquired why I am not receiving free shipping for the month of April, and requested free shipping be extended throughout the month of May as few days now remain in AprilAs I previously stated, I have met and exceeded the $On-going free shipping would be a positive gesture on ThredUp’s part to provide some type of compensation for ThredUp’s on-going incompetence in so many, many areas
ThredUp website advertises:
“How can I earn free shipping
Ah, let us count the waysFirst UP, is our thredUP Everyday programSpend 150+* in any one calendar month, and you’ll get unlimited Free Standard Shipping on every order (no minimum) during the following monthLearn more about thredUP Everyday here
*Eligibility is calculated based on order subtotal after discounts and promos and before taxes and shipping
Last but not least, any orders totaling $79+ (before tax) automatically receive Free Standard Shipping”
ThredUp is not responsive to communication, and is incapable or unwilling to fulfill the expectation that I be allowed to utilize their return policyFor these reasons, I will accept either an immediate store credit of $400.00, and/or an immediate return of $to my credit cardin addition, I am entitled to free shipping for no less than one full month, per
ThredUp,s advertisement above
I entreat ThredUp to credit my account immediately.Sincerely,*** ***

Complaint: ***I am rejecting this response because: this issue will never be resolved. In the end, I still suffered a tremendous loss and it should be on record with the Revdex.com for other people to be aware of. I did speak to a customer service person and aired my frustration, but nothing was or will be done to "resolve" the issue. Sincerely,*** ***

Hi ***,
Thank you for expressing your concerns and I am sorry that the cleanout experience did not meet your expectationsCoach is a very popular brand on the site and will typically sell quickly but in order to be accepted the items do
need to meet our strict quality standards by being free of blemishes
It looks as though in the customer support ticket that photos were shared that were taken at the time of processingWe keep photos taken when the bag was processed to refer back to at a later date
As an example, the photo below shows a purple stain on the one handbag:
https://assets-thredup.insnw.net/assets/XXXXXXXX/***
When a bag is requested there are two optionsOne is to opt in to return assurance where items that can not be accepted are held aside to be returned after the bag is processedThe other is to not have the items held aside or returnedUnfortunately it looks as though you chose to not have the items returned from this bag
We are always happy to return any items not accepted but this does need to be requested prior to us receiving the bag either when requesting the bag or within your bag history pageIf, once the bag starts processing, the bag is not opted in to return assurance the items are not held aside not kept so that they can be returnedThis information is disclosed on the cleanout page page below:

We do our best to be transparent with making tools available for our sellers as to what brands we accept, our quality standards and also the categories that are currently not selling very well
The brands tool for our sellers can be found at https://www.thredup.com/cleanout/brandsThis link is also noted in our quality standards and on the main clean out page
The categories in which we are currently limiting our inventory is consistently updated in our FAQ's at the link below:

ABSOLUTELY RIDICULOUS Who in their right mind would pay the $or whatever it was to have my unaccepted items returned? I would have paid THEM to take my items I've been selling on eBay for more than years, so I know what my items were worth (even at the deflated rate I expected for them to make a profit) Then their marketing person sent an (automated I'm sure) message asking 'how my experience was' and promised that if you wrote back they would read and respondwell I responded months ago, and guess who hasn't written backDO NOT SEND YOUR ITEMS TO THIS PLACE!!!! After my own experience I went searching, and I've since read many similar reviews on other websites and blogsNever again!
