The job as negotiated was to be a payment in full of cash upon completion of the jobThat was negotiated up front with ***. The request for a upfront partial payment was never requested untill work had started at which point I gave them a check for 1000.00. The contract was never signed as the contract needed revisions and when *** sent the revision he said in the e-mail in which he submitted it "Its not much of a contract." I have a copy of that e-mail
As to the issue of the work done that there are always changes in progress is pure BS. Incompetance abounded in this job from the begginingI am no stranger to high quality work from contractors nor in construction that I have done myself and I know when someone is screwing up big time
I had desiginated very specfically things that were to be done such as the location of the wall extension and the reloaction of the hotwater tankBoth were done incorrectlyBoth were redone and the wall placement while extended out had no provisions for the access panels to the jacuzzi tub in the event of repair being needed
Also the water tank when relocated to the correct location (which was only moved twice not three times) was installed backwards with the drain degrees away from the floor drain and the access panel to the thermostats and electrical heating elements were now up against the wall extension and there was no way to get to the panel to make repairs or change temperatures
The floor drain that they were going to use had no trap for the tub and that drain as I had told them was to be used for a sink so they could not put a tap in the floor on that drain and still use it for the sink with its own trap
They had planned on installing the tub backwards with the pumps and heaters against a block wall in that there would be no access to wnay of those items in the event a repair is needed. The tub if installed correctly into the wall extention still would not have access as the extended the wall all the way to the floor and and ran piping across the area that should have been accsess panel for the tub
The electrician also mounted the switch boxes in violation of code and mixed wire sizes into a junction box and wired an addtional switch box in line for the water pump that feeds the house that was identical to the box that was already inline to the pumpthere are now two switch boxes inline for the water pump
The electrician also ran only one line to the block wall side for the tub and the tub needs two electrical lines since the tub is a dual system with dual pumps and heaters for two seperate actions(whisper jets and Jaccuzi jets) I already had another electrician out that pointed out all the electrical mistakes
I called my former contractor who had done several projects for me at the highest standards but is now retired due to bladder cancer to come out and look over the workHis comments was that these guys were total *Ups. as he pointed out numerous errors in their work
These guys can try and spin this anyway they want and if they paid any money to anyone for this work they should get it back because it is completly wrong
A the homeowner I did not change my mind about any of the things they did wroing at first that they had to correctif they had done it right the first time it would not have been an issueTheir incompetance was the reason for them doing things over and over againI was clear about what I wanted done and how it was to be done from the beggining
As to the floor issue I told them from the beggining to cover the floor. They did it so poorly that they should not have bothered at allAnd I did tell *** that they had to do better job of covering the floor but it was never done and I had to take my time to reclean and cover the floor the way it should have been from the begginingI should not have had to tell so called proffesionals how to cover a newly laid wood floor and tiles to protect it
Its clear from their response that they have no intention of returning my deposit so I have the statements from the other contractors and electricians with regard to their work as well as photos of all the mistakes and I will be filing against them at the magistrates office this week.

Robert Palermo

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint.  For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.I would like to say first that they never bid the job higher.  We took their original quote and did not try to get them to come down in price.  They did come and fix the leaks when we called but the reason for the leaks is the reason of my conplaint.  It was sheer neglect on their part for most of them.  When they installed the medicine cabinet they hit a pipe.  They knew where the pipes were because they installed the drywall.  Same for the toilet paper holder.   And another thing that I did not mention because I just thought of today was that the toilet wobbled.  They did not securely fasten it to the floor.   When we had the upstairs powder room done, we asked them to fix the toilet.  They did and we had to pay them an extra $300.  I just did not like dealing with this company because of all the problems.

I can certainly understand and appreciate that the homeowner is upset because of the timeframe. There are a few things to point out. 1. We did a $20,000 job for half of the price,  the homeowners mother insisted for us to come down in price, and I accommodated them....

 2. 90% of the time in construction there are always things that come up, such as leaks ect.... We came back to the house 8-10times to fix and repair, and NO EXTRA COST! The condition of the house, Both Plumbing and electrical were done completely wrong, and not nearly up to code. In order to make it safe, we needed to do a lot of extra work, and most of the repairs were not our fault, they were due to the work being initially done improperly. We completed a lot of extra work that was not in our bid, just to make it safe, again at no extra charge. These repairs would have been upwards to $2,000 extra. Considering the time frame and the inconvenience, I decided to not charge the home owners. Its hard when the homeowners write a review with out knowing the real situation. I would say that I would return some money, but lost $2,000. another resolution would be to fix what was broken or leaking, but we already did that. I felt like we did everything we could. Also, any or every time they called, we were there same day or the next.

First and foremost, I completely can understand and appreciate that the homeowner is upset. but there is 2 sides to every story. I would like to address the money exchanged first. From day one, we were very accommodating to this homeowner. He was very anxious to get started, so we juggled a few...

things, and even after attending a funeral, went to the home and started the renovation. The contract, states that we require 50% down, which would have $2,500.00. Again were accommodating the home owner and accepted $1,000.00.  He would not sign the contract but insisted that work be done. Being that there was money exchange we began the project. a total of 3 people were there for 4 days, as well as an electrician hired by us to. For one employee we paid $1,000, the electrician $500 and I had $490 in material, which I have receipts for and prof of checks. Not to mention that both owners were there for 3-4 days. Therefore, I will not be reimbursing the own owner the money, because services were provided. Not only that but we had 2 weeks schedule for the job and lost out on over 4,000. Again trying to accommodate the home owner because he was not happy with the work that was done,, I was willing to take the loss and move on.
The floor, which we did covered was discussed at the start of the job, and never expressed a concern again, if this was in fact unsatisfactory for the home owner, we would have simply made the changes, or recovered the floors.
In regards to the work not being the "right" way....The work was not nearly done and the layout would have meet the home owners standards when complete. Of course some adjustments always need to be made. We also moved the hot water tank 3 times, because of the indecisiveness of the home owner at no charge.

Review: This company remodeled my daughters bathroom. They were horrible. About 4 leaks because they kept drilling holes to put up medicine cabinet and hit a pipe. Again when installing toilet paper holder and under sink and behind shower faucets. Had to remove wall in kitchen to repair. Asked for last payment before completed and this messed up our leaverage. Put in incorrect shower door. We were so fed up with them that we did not want them to return. Had last leak fixed by a different plumber and paid ourselves. They took about 8 weeks to finish when originally said 2 weeks to 10 days. We would never use them again.,Desired Settlement: none, just want to make other aware.

Regards,

Review: Contacted [redacted] about a bathroom remodel. Told him what I wanted done and had all the items needed to install and finish Bathroom. We agreed on a price of 5000.00 and work commenced on the bathroom. Issues arose almost immediatly as my instructions were not carried out. I asked the floor leading to the bathroom be covered as I had just remodeled that room and there was new wood floor in place that I did not want damaged. I had the floor cleaned and expected the floor to be covered. They put down one layer of brown paper strip to walk on and did not cover the tiles nor thresholds. After a few days the areas and the thresholds were filthy with tracked in dirt. I had to reclean the floor and this time I covered the floor properly to protect it and the tile. Next the intial expansion of the wall for the tub was misplaced and the water heater that was to be moved was put in the wrong location. They moved the wall and the heater only to install the heater backwards with the drain of the water heater facing a wall and the access panel of the water heater that are used for setting the temp are now facing the wall with no access. The tub was a Jaccuzi tub and they planned to place the tub with the pump and heater systems against a block wall with no access to the unit in the event it would need servicing. [redacted] brother who is supposed to be a plumber said that he always intended to mount the tub the other way but that was a lie as the power line that was run was run to the block side of the wall and would not reach the other end. In addition the walls that were made to accomodate the tub had no access panels and the rerouting of plumbing lines ran right across the area where the pumps and heaters would be limiting access. I had given them a 1000.00 deposit and [redacted] brother wanted another check before doing any more work. I said that no more money would be paid untill the problems were corrected. If there is no refund in 72 hours I go to the magistrates office to file.Desired Settlement: 1000.00 dollars paid back to me as a full refund.
