Complaint Description:
This company chose to tow in excess of cars and chose outrageous fees and unnecessary fees taking advantage of college studentsPatriot Place Apartments are located on East Palmetto Street in FLorence, SCThey house many student-athletes of Francis Marion UniversityThis towing company is about a mile down the road on the same highwayThese college students have been residing here, some of them yearsThere were never parking requirementsDue to the numerous break ins in the parking lot of the complex, the manager began attempting to enforce parkingThere was no deadline given to have the vehicles registeredLast Friday night into early Saturday morning, this company began towing cars of the RESIDENTS that lived thereEach child was told thay they had to pay $to get their car backThirty eight cars and $a piece...well..you do the math ! When I asked why so much, I was told some of the problem was the "after hour " fee....the towing company intentionally hauled the cars off after hours to earn this extra moneyI inquired about why they couldnt tow during business hours and no reason was givenThey intentionally, with the help of the apartment manager, took advantage of these young adults that could do absolutely nothing about itAlso, they would not take credit or debit cars...some of us had to pay in cashCash cannot be reported nor tracedThis was a concern as wellSInce this date, they have cotinued to tow vehicles and they continue to do it after midnightI attempted to talk with Tony, assuming this is one of the managers, and was chastised for calling his cell phone(it was on his business card ???) This company was completely unprofesional and condascending to the students and the parentsI feel based on these facts that they intentionally took advantage of these young people and they should have to refund every bit of money they took and should have to account for every bit of cash that they took in
