 Complaint: [redacted]
I am rejecting this response because:We were not on "vacation" when the floors were refinished.  We have a dog and had to get out of the house for the floors to be refinished so we went to Ocean City for the weekend.  Ryan had both of our cell phone numbers and could have immediately called us when he realized there was a problem.  The floors had not been discolored or damaged,  he simply sanded off the old finish and made no attempt to match the color when he realized the floors were not what he thought.  The floors,  prior to sanding/refinishing, were almost a perfect color match to the living room floor but were simply not as shiny. After meeting with Ryan on December 7th regarding fixing the floors, I followed up with him in January to let him know the color I selected which represented the best match for the existing floors.  After having to contact him twice he told me "I can't" resand your floors.  I questioned him and he said the same thing again.  After questioning him a third time, he finally said "I'm not going to resand your floors",  refusing to make this right.  Pictures are attached representing what the sanded/refinished floor looks like now versus a part of the original floor that was not sanded, the living room floor and the shoe molding which matched the floor prior to the sanding/refinishing.  You can judge for yourself.  I will also note that I found out after the fact that this company is not MHIC licensed in the state of Maryland.Regards,

Re: complaint ID#[redacted] ([redacted]) An estimate was given to home owner to sand and refinish approximately 850 square feet of pre-existing floor on the main level of her home. Upon inspection, the floors were in rough shape, including a lot of dirt in the soft grain. The wood resembled white oak...

natural flooring. Home contains another room with approximately 150 square feet of pre-finish flooring on the same level (living room). The ex-husband had installed these floors sometime prior. Homeowner did not know what type of pre-finish these were at time of estimate. Later it was determined the pre-finish was hickory. (Homeowner had called ex-husband to get this information). November 18, 2016 we began sanding the natural wood flooring. Homeowner was away on vacation. About halfway through, I stopped to check on my helper who was edging in the foyer/hallway. Upon re-entry, I was surprised to find the floors were actually a red oak; a completely different species of floor. They had turned a different color, perhaps due to cleaning products or UV lights. As the natural wood floor was in the process of being sanded, I had to continue. Part of the job consisted of moving large furniture from the work areas. Upon completion, the homeowner pointed out that a curtain road had been damaged. I sent payment to the repair person. Homeowner’s complaint points out the sheen of the floors between what I had done versus the “other room”. The other room is a pre-finish flooring, manufactured in a factory. Sheens will not match. On December 7, I brought stain samples to her home. The job I completed brought the natural wood floor close to the color it was previous to sanding. Because the natural wood flooring is a completely different species of wood than the pre-finish hickory, these floors will not match. Ryan P[redacted], Tidewater Hardwood Floors ###-###-####
