He returned my phone calls and emails promptly and answered all my questions. Everything he informed me of was accurate and his estimates were accurate as well. No surprises. Highly recommend!!!

Review: My husband and I trusted Tidewater Home Mortgage to close a refinancing for us. We knew it was a tricky transaction: investment property, a condo, cashout...so, we made sure we made everything as easy as possible for them. They wanted our business even though apparently they did not do service that kind of loan. Then, they made wrong decisions about what to disclose to their contracted lender and moved slow which resulted in our losing first, a better lock-in rate, then, the locked-in rate altogether which forced us to go with a higher cost loan after waiting and waiting for their 'contracted lender' to come true. There were lots of conflicting excuses as to why the loan was being delay (every day for 4 weeks!). It meant a difference of several thousand dollars on our plans! Be aware!!! Tidewater Home Mortgage does not take any responsibility for the contracts they sign with you, feel no obligation to fulfill their side of the contract when it is to their lenders advantage to relock and will not negotiate a proper solution with the third party they contracted for your loan. Nothing! In fact, after complaining to [redacted], A call to our voicemail told us that Tidewater had no record of us... (after 45 days of daily work and over a 100 emails!) and that if they were mistaken to call back. We did call back and never got any replies to our voicemails. Judge this behaviour yourselves. We will never work with Tidewater Home Mortgage again and will be very careful about who we deal with in the future. We on't work through [redacted] again either as they told us they would be calling back themselves and to give them a little time... this was in June and it is now August so, I think their technique is to wait you out so you forget. Very disappointing!We wish we had gone with our nice local folks even though their offerings were not quite as tempting but, at least they would have come true. I write this because many folks cannot refuse and have to take the abuse. Write complaints, keep them honest.Desired Settlement: We would like to get the product we were offered and that we worked so hard to get, delivered under the same conditions as the contract we signed. We lost money already but, we are willing to compromise. We want the company to honor the contract they entered in with us and take responsibility for their dealing with third party players. We should not have to suffer the consequences of their bad business dealings -they put all the blame on [redacted]

We did lock in the loan and submitted it to underwriting. There are many parties involved in the appraisal process and we are now required to use a third party appraisal company. It took 3 weeks for the appraisal to be done and another 3 weeks for the title to be completed. By that time the lock in had expired. Mortgage rates had gone up significantly and the original rate is no longer available anywhere. Because the market has shifted so much, the company is left without anyway to accommodate the consumer's request.
