company broke light fixture and damaged floor while cleaning houseThe company cleaned my house on Friday, June 26,2015 The charge for services was $124 for the cost to clean the house, fridge, and oven. The price was based on time worked which they said would be 4 hours so with two people cleaning would be two hours each plus an additional 25 minutes for cleaning the fridge. The transaction was agreed on verbally and payment was made in cash of an even $125 cash left on the kutchen counter when the cleaners arrived and began working. I let them know where it was and thst I would return later bebause of errands. the house was empty as this was a move in cleaning as we were moving into the house the next day. I came back to the house at night for general look through and to lock door. Did not see anything amiss until I came back next day with full sun. Initially I noticed something metal on my fireplace mantel that wasnt there before but I could not quite identify it. I then noticed glasd pieces on the living room floor and then I looked up at the light ceiling fan combo fixture, the glass light globe had been broken. It was no longer there and the pieces were no where to be found. the laminate floor was also damaged from the fall.They had cleaned up the glass. I called around 4pm, over 24 hours after transaction to find out what had happened. They did not call me for over 24 hours to let me know this had happened! I had to call them. they said that the glass had indeed broken as they were cleaning but that it was because the light had no screws. that is impissible the home inspector had reviwed the entire house before we signed our closing documents on thursday the 25th. In addition if there were no screws the light would not even be up there in the first place and any movements made even just walkinh would casue the light to fall.They never said anything to me for over 24 hours of the situation and I had to find out about it on my own that this happened. The light has to be replaced and the floor should be repaired. And the company should pay for it because they caused the damage. And I want a refund for the services. I would up having to sweep the floor because of all the pieces of glass I found on the floor as well!Desired SettlementThe light has to be replaced and the floor should be repaired. Failure of the homeowners to inform us prior to our arrival for cleaning put our employees in harms way when doing our normal cleaning tasks. When our employee went to dust the ceiling fan using a Feather Duster the globe fell and hit my employee in the head causing a raised knot the size of a quarter on her forehead and almost knocking her unconscious. Pictures were sent to homeowner of the physical damage done to our employee.The damage to the floor was caused by the negligence of the homeowner and their failure to secure this heavy light fixture. Homeowner should pay for physical and emotional damage to our employee. As a result the damage to the floor and globe is the homeowners responsibility and should be filed under homeowners property policy.
