Tiger Audio Reviews (%countItem)

All of the following issues occurred between the dates of 6/6/20 and 7/13/20. I have compiled a detailed list during this time frame containing the dates and times of all phone calls, visits to the store, and work performed. In order to shorten this five-page word document, I will simply provide the actual critical issues that were experienced during this time period.
I visited Tiger Audio to schedule having a $1,802.32 stereo system installed into my 10-month-old truck. In order to install aftermarket equipment into a truck, it is necessary to mount it to the back wall of the cab behind the back seat. For some reason, they used 4" long screws that went through the back wall of the truck cab and embedded into the outside surface of the actual bed of the truck. It dimpled the sheet metal, but didn't quite pierce the bed of the truck, but it was very close. To add to that potential issue, I just had a $667.95 bed liner installed on 5/28/20 the week prior to going to Tiger Audio. It was very close to damaging the bed liner, but all was spared. Regardless, they had to modify the screw lengths to avoid them from coming in contact with the bed of the truck.
In the following day or two, it was noticed that something really didn't sound quite right. Something seemed missing from the music. Thought maybe some adjustments needed to be made. After looking into it a bit and troubleshooting on my own, it was discovered that they connected both left speakers and right speakers ALL on the right channel of the stereo. All six speakers in the truck were connected solely to the right channel of the stereo. Anyone who has just a little knowledge about stereo systems knows that there is a right channel and a left channel that play independently of one another. My stereo was connected with NO LEFT CHANNEL at all ONLY the right channel playing through ALL of my speakers. This is why the music didn't sound right. They clearly told me that they couldn't figure out how to connect a certain piece of equipment correctly without issues involving the door chime. So, they intentionally opted to eliminate the left channel all together. I put my trust that a stereo expert was installing my stereo system correctly. I was sadly disappointed that this was done blatantly, basically robbing me of the sum of money that I spent on this system. When I explained my disappointment and how they lied to me, they actually turned it around on me making it seem like I was rude for complaining about this and my truck is the problem. Never in my life have I dealt with this level of incompetency and horrible customer service with so called 'experts'. After this falling out, we somehow managed to put the disagreement to rest and moved forward to try to correct the issues.
Now, I'm told that I will need another $649.00 component to fix the problem. I reluctantly agreed and scheduled to have the new equipment installed. After this piece was installed, it was noticed that the FM radio stations sounded horrible. They all have intermittent static, fading in and out and just sounded very poor. I'm told that a piece of equipment that I purchased is known to emit an electromagnetic interference that sometimes interferes with FM radio signals and other nearby electronic equipment. Why was this not brought up previously, so we could circumvent that potential issue? Who wants to spend upwards of $2,500.00 on a stereo system and not be able to listen to their radio stations? Now, I'm told I will need to spend even more to replace that equipment! I refused to spend more and more money and ordered that the equipment be removed from my truck. I explained that I would take responsibility for the labor involved knowing that it was exceeding $500.00. I had to keep two pairs of speakers, due to the fact that the factory speakers are destroyed during installation. Those speakers are $400.00 installed. I agreed that I'd be paying the $500.00+ in labor just so I can get away from this horrible business. To add insult to injury and further the ridiculousness, they added an additional 25% restocking fee to add another $375.00 to the bill. Nowhere inside or outside of the facility or on the receipt/bill of sale is there any mention of a restocking fee. After disputing repeatedly with the poor customer service, I literally had to pay the $375.00 restocking fee under duress. I spent a total of $2,451.32 and was reimbursed $1,135.48 by the end of this whole fiasco. I was literally charged $1,315.84 for two pairs of door speakers, a bunch of labor and nothing more to show for it. The owner of the company has been made fully aware of the circumstances and was provided the five pages documenting every single incident with dates and times. My expectation is for Tiger Audio to waive this restocking fee and reimburse me the $375.00. That was a slap in the face after already agreeing to pay for all of the labor ? even the labor that they spent intentionally wiring my stereo up ALL WRONG! The last minute charge for a restocking fee is and was absurd. Especially, since it isn't noted anywhere in the facility or on the receipt. Tiger Audio, AT THE VERY LEAST, owes me that $375.00 and/or more, if they truly want to save their reputation in some way. I cannot see how any owner of any company would or should knowingly allow the level of poor workmanship and poor customer service to continue.

Desired Outcome

Refund At the very least, Tiger Audio needs to refund me for the 25% restocking fee of $375.00.

To Whom It May Concern:

This letter is in response to ***'s complaint dated July 29, 2020.

Mr. came to Tiger Audio on June 6th, 2020. An audio system which consisted of the following was installed in his 2019 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 LD:

1 pair of Pioneer 6 x 9 inch speakers;

1 pair of Pioneer 6.5 inch speakers;

2 Memphis 10 inch subwoofers;

1 Atrend Subwoofer enclosure;

1 DB Drive M750.1 amplifier;

1 DB Drive WDS400.4;

2 DB Drive wiring kits;

1 PAC SNI-15 adapter;

1 Labor charge for installation.

Mr. paid $1,802.32 for invoice 14283 and his Silverado was returned to him.

Mr. returned on or around June 25th disappointed the audio system detailed above was not working to his satisfaction. After much investigation, it was explained to Mr. numerous times, his 2019 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 LD had a General Motors amplified system installed at the time of build. As such, as Mr. continued to add what he wished to have installed in his vehicle, more equipment became necessary to modify the factory installed system.

On the 27th, a processor was added to his vehicle to mitigate the hardware factory installed. To all accounts from my installers, the system worked well and sounded great, however, Mr. continued to object. It was at this time my support staff arranged transportation to Mr. home so his vehicle could remain at Tiger Audio in order to trouble shoot any issues. No issues were found, and the system was designated as working perfectly, to industry acceptable standards. It was at this time Mr. demanded a refund, due to, what I believe is buyer's remorse, exacerbated by Mr. wife's unhappiness with the cost of the system in addition to the IRS coming after him, two facts with which Mr. shared with one of my installers.

Unfortunately, and I believe, what intensified Mr. frustration, was the fact, I had been out of the office starting May 11 to July 31, 2020, due to a medical condition. Mr. is of the belief, my support staff withheld information from me with regard to the issues of Mr. system. Despite Mr. belief, I was kept informed and given full account of the situation by my support staff each time Mr. returned to Tiger Audio. In addition, Mr. provided me with a summary of his experience with Tiger Audio on July 6, 2020 via a private email address. It was that same day Mr. was refunded $1,135.48 via check number 3529, which was the cost of the system and speakers that were removed from his vehicle. Some speakers remained installed; as the design of the truck is not conducive to going back to factory state without significant cost. In addition, Mr *** bears the cost of not only the labor we exhausted. Tiger Audio was left with used equipment which cannot be sold as new, and with wiring that cannot be used as it was cut to length specifically for Mr. installation.

I am a small business owner and while I understand Mr. frustration, I take exception with Mr. attempting to threaten my reputation by taking out his frustration due to his impending divorce and problems with the IRS. The product was in fact installed (and then uninstalled) in his vehicle. The 20% restocking fee is standard across the electronics industry as the product which was installed and then removed from his vehicle is now used and cannot be sold as new. The fact Mr. wishes to have additional monies he paid for the system and the speakers, including installation and restocking fee while he STILL is in possession of the six speakers, is, in my opinion, ludicrous. Mr. threats do not bother me; I am proud of the reputation I have built in this industry over the last 30 years; Mr. is showing himself to be unreasonable.

Should you have any other questions please do not hesitate to contact me. Thank you for your time.

Customer Response • Aug 12, 2020

I would like to respond to Mr. in regards to this situation with some inconsistencies. No mention of my stereo system getting hooked up with all right channel on all speakers which destroyed all trust in workmanship? No mention of your technician clearly mentioning that interference to the FM channels being caused by the amplifier that was only intensified with the digital processor being added to the system? Definitely not buyer's remorse, because I have already had a another new system installed perfectly the first time. Yes, the fact that you were out with medical issues did indeed make the situation worse, but clearly unforeseeable. Never mentioned anything about a divorce at all, since that is a total lie. My marriage is and has been fine. I mentioned my wife getting aggravated with having to bring me to and from repeatedly. It was a 25% restocking fee, not a 20% as mentioned. I am clearly in possession of the speakers that remained in my truck that I paid for completely and more. I am by far not trying to ruin anyone's reputation. I was wrongfully charged for restocking of "used" equipment that was in perfectly "Like new" condition as requested at the bottom of your receipt. There's so much more to this story and it's fine. I know that if Mr. would not have fallen ill during this time, none of this would have happened the way it did. It was all in such poor timing and simply spiraled out of control. Anyone in my situation would have felt poorly about this transaction and how it unfolded. I absolutely do not and will not ever feel that I'm being unreasonable. If this transaction would've taken place a month sooner or a month later, this would've likely been a smooth transaction. I whole-heartedly believe that. I paid for all of the labor that was involved with this whole installation. All of it. Regardless of how this situation has ended, that was an unfair and unjust last-minute charge of a restocking fee. It is what it is. A learning experience indeed.
