Tightan Fitness Reviews (1)

Review: I had cancelled my membership with Tightan Fitness in June/2013 and 3 months had passed and they have charged me every month since. I have called once a month since june reminding them I had cancelled and asked for a refund of the charges and they said they would get back to me and they never did. Their excuse was since I did not send the cancellation via certified mail and have no receipt that there is no proof. I have called 3 times and had asked three times if I can cancel or if they had gotten my cancellation which I sent via post and I have been waiting upon a return call and/or refund but neither of which had happened. Lastly I had just gotten off the phone with the owner [redacted], and after telling him this exact story he said all they can do is cancel it here on out (it is now september/2013, 4 months after I had originally cancelled) but I will still be charged for september and will not be getting the refund. That's very upsetting and not a good way to do business.Desired Settlement: Please, a refund of the last 4 months or even a courtesy refund of this month and the last. (ANYTHING) would show good faith and good business. I do not want a gift certificate or free anything since I don't live there anymore.

Response:

Our cancellation procedure is EXTREMELY CLEAR. It is posted on the front and rear of the members contract in bold print. It is also highlighted on the front and back of the cancellation form that is directly handed to the member when they request cancellation and explained. Also when they sign it they must initial the line that says they understand the procedure and have handled it properly. Here is our terms plain and simple: 1. Fulfill your contract agreement, (this member did not fulfill his 1 year, he moved and wished to terminate early which he had to provide proof which we never received), 2. Pick up and send in cancellation form with proper proof for cancellation via cert or registered mail, ( this member did not and admitted he did not several times and was instructed to do so accordingly). On the 1 and only call that my club manager did receive, the issue was resolved in that call and the problem the member had for that month was his declined credit card and non payment of dues for that month. Payment was taken, membership was canceled via email at members convenience that day and member was even offered a gift certificate for complimentary months if he wished to return. We have been in business for ten years and have had the same policy since day one. Purpose of the certified mail is to provide proof of mailing and termination date for both the customer and business so there is no guess work on when the forms were sent in, not so we can inconvenience the customer or make the post office money. We even go as far as email cancellations in certain circumstances such as this one to resolve issues immediately.

Response:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID# [redacted], and have determined that my complaint has NOT been resolved because:

Regardless of what the terms may have or may not have been which they say was listed. The fact of the matter is that a cancellation form was sent with the required paperwork to the facility with a letter asking to confirm and a confirmation was never recieved. Then after calling once a month since June after being charged, nothing had been done to assist with the cancellation! I have records pulled from [redacted] which I will show if needed that one phone call had been made middle of June, July, August, and then again beginning of September. Finally after 4 phone calls did the manager ask to cancel over email. This should had been done first time around.

Regardless I dont feel this was handled with care from the gym facility management. Im happy the obligation to the gym has finally been broken and I will make sure to inform my peers and colleagues of the facility and their negligence.

Thanks again Revdex.com for your assistance and thanks Tightan Gym for the membership!
