Mr***, Sorry for the delay in responding to the letter you sent regarding Mrand Mrs***'s complaintI was out of town when the letter arrived As the business owner, I take great pride in my company and the work we performMr [redacted] did in fact contact me regarding an issue with the tile cracking in his kitchen along the seam from where his new dining room (formerly the garage) meets with the existing kitchenI went over to the residence personally and explained to him that the reason for the tile cracking along the seam was caused from expansion & contraction of the two floorsHis kitchen floor is concrete and the addition is sub-floor (wood)I offered to resolve the issue by putting in an expansion joint so that the difference in reactions of the two floors would not affect the tileHe stated that he would not be happy with an expansion joint for cosmetic reasonsWith the brittle tile selection and the floors reacting in different manners during weather changes, this is the only resolution and was offered at no chargeThis offer still stands as a resolution I wanted to point out a few errors I found within the letter:1.) The original signed contract with us was for the amount of $ [redacted] Total of all payments made is what the claimant states the purchase price is for ($ [redacted] )The tile work purchase price (what the complaint is for) is only $ [redacted] I have attached the original documents for your review.2.) I signed a Liability Release Form between Brian [redacted] and I on March 1, to become effective on the start date of April 7, which would be the accurate purchase dateOut of anticipation of the project from the home owner, I agreed to tile the door entry early as a "preview" for their kitchenThis is the $ [redacted] that shows as a deposit on the invoice and was performed before the initial start date of April 7, 2014.3.) After signing a contract to agree upon paying $ [redacted] on March 1, 2014, Mr [redacted] accumulated charges to where I sent him a new invoice for $ [redacted] on March 10, These additional charges were for hours of time transferring his moving boxes from the garage to the shed so that we could perform our work although the house was supposed to be un-occupied, repairing broken ceiling joists, landfill drop offs, and additional material that was his responsibilityAfter accumulating an additional $ [redacted] Mr [redacted] started eliminating items that he did not want to pay for in our contract and began asking for me to work deals with him if he were to "help out"Although we were in a contract, I did not ask for the additional $ [redacted] that was initially agreed upon since we did not perform the workAgain, documents are attached for you to review4.) When I met with Mr [redacted] at his home to review the complaint, he had stated that the tile had began to crack some time in early winterWe would have made a service call then to reduce the amount of cracking that has occurred, but he explained that he had not said anything to his wife so that she didn't get upset and contacted me when she discovered the issue To resolve the issue I am willing to either fix the problem by installing an expansion joint or I will return the $ [redacted] charge for the tile work we performed on the kitchen floorFeel free to contact me by phone or email for any reason concerning this matter.Regards, [redacted] [redacted] Tile Perfection, LLCwww.Tile-Perfection.com

Business states that the husband [redacted] didn't want them to remove the wall that separates the kitchen and garage which led to the concrete being 1/2 inch off in off between the two separate rooms. Business states they were unable to do the job in the correct manner so they were unable to do the job correctly. Refund being offered covers the tile work only, not covering the cost of being ripped up. Customer needs to choose whether they would like the refund or for the business to come over and do the work on the tile flooring.

Revdex.com:
I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint.  For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.  First, I would like to address there was no signed contract between Tile Perfection and The [redacted]. The paperwork he provided you were unsigned estimates of work on what we would like to have done.  As you move along with a project there are issues that come up with the construction that add on to the cost. So unfortunately we did not finish everything on the estimate. In addition he mentioned the occupancy of the home was going to be unoccupied which he knows is untrue. I paid for movers to move us in on 03/21/2014 and paid them $[redacted] for the move which I can provide paperwork on that if needed. The matter at hand though is the floor addition in the kitchen.  The problem with the addition in the kitchen would be that when the sub floor was built it did not have any room for expansion thereforth causing a pinch point and causing the tile to crack in half and grout lines to separate and deteriorate.  We expressed concern with him about having no expansion gap so much so he said he would warranty his work, he said he would warranty his work for the first 2 or 3 years to allow time for the floor to handle seasonal change. One of his employees, [redacted], was there and overheard the entire conversation.  There was also an issue of hardy backer board that was purchased for the sub floor but was then returned because Tile Perfection noticed they didn't leave enough room on the sub floor which would cause an uneven difference in both floors. Other company's have stated if backer board would have been used to complete the floor that would have absorbed some of the motion in the floating floor which would have avoided the problems we are now having.  Ultimately we are going to have to have the work entirely redone. I will accept a refund for laying the tile. It was charged on 05/05/2014 for $[redacted]. In addition we want a refund on the Raised Garage Floor which was $[redacted]. In addition we are working on getting a new Tile company and if they say all the tile is going to have to be replaced like we think it is we want the amount for the tile to be covered as well which is a total of $[redacted].  Also I would like to mention when [redacted] came over to look at the crack in the middle of the floor and offered to try to fix it with an expansion joint that we decided cosmetically it would not look right or truly fix the problem. [redacted] also agreed it would not look as nice and stated he would speak with his brother (co-owner) and staff about other alternatives and was suppose to contact us back with a solution and never did. [redacted] attempted many times to contact [redacted] with no response, which is totally unprofessional.  So we have had to resort to filing disputes, reporting his business with the Revdex.com and also reporting him to other companies on his bad business practices, and lastly if we can't get the problem rectified go to court to get this matter resolved.  The floor looks horrible. Along with the crack straight down the middle now.  There are now other cracks forming all throughout the floor by the garage doors and walls. The problem is going to continue to get worse until the entire floor is redone right.  So either Tile Perfection warranties their work as promised and come over and fix the entire floor correctly or we would like a refund on all the amounts mentioned above.  If needed I can submit pictures of all the cracks.

Mr. [redacted],  Sorry for the delay in responding to the letter you sent regarding Mr. and Mrs. [redacted]'s complaint. I was out of town when the letter arrived.   As the business owner, I take great pride in my company and the work we perform. Mr. [redacted] did in fact contact me regarding an...

issue with the tile cracking in his kitchen along the seam from where his new dining room (formerly the garage) meets with the existing kitchen. I went over to the residence personally and explained to him that the reason for the tile cracking along the seam was caused from expansion & contraction of the two floors. His kitchen floor is concrete and the addition is sub-floor (wood). I offered to resolve the issue by putting in an expansion joint so that the difference in reactions of the two floors would not affect the tile. He stated that he would not be happy with an expansion joint for cosmetic reasons. With the brittle tile selection and the floors reacting in different manners during weather changes, this is the only resolution and was offered at no charge. This offer still stands as a resolution.   I wanted to point out a few errors I found within the letter:1.)  The original signed contract with us was for the amount of $[redacted]. Total of all payments made is what the claimant states the purchase price is for ($[redacted]). The tile work purchase price (what the complaint is for) is only $[redacted]. I have attached the original documents for your review.2.)  I signed a Liability Release Form between Brian [redacted] and I on March 1, 2014 to become effective on the start date of April 7, 2014 which would be the accurate purchase date. Out of anticipation of the project from the home owner, I agreed to tile the door entry early as a "preview" for their kitchen. This is the $[redacted] that shows as a deposit on the invoice and was performed before the initial start date of April 7, 2014.3.) After signing a contract to agree upon paying $[redacted] on March 1, 2014, Mr. [redacted] accumulated charges to where I sent him a new invoice for $[redacted] on March 10, 2014. These additional charges were for 3.5 hours of time transferring his moving boxes from the garage to the shed so that we could perform our work although the house was supposed to be un-occupied, repairing broken ceiling joists, 2 landfill drop offs, and additional material that was his responsibility. After accumulating an additional $[redacted] Mr. [redacted] started eliminating items that he did not want to pay for in our contract and began asking for me to work deals with him if he were to "help out". Although we were in a contract, I did not ask for the additional $[redacted] that was initially agreed upon since we did not perform the work. Again, documents are attached for you to review. 4.)  When I met with Mr. [redacted] at his home to review the complaint, he had stated that the tile had began to crack some time in early winter. We would have made a service call then to reduce the amount of cracking that has occurred, but he explained that he had not said anything to his wife so that she didn't get upset and contacted me when she discovered the issue.    To resolve the issue I am willing to either fix the problem by installing an expansion joint or I will return the $[redacted] charge for the tile work we performed on the kitchen floor. Feel free to contact me by phone or email for any reason concerning this matter.Regards, [redacted]Tile Perfection, LLCwww.Tile-Perfection.com

Revdex.com:
I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint.  For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below. We do not know what you are talking about.  "Business states that the husband [redacted] didn't want them to remove the wall that separates the kitchen and garage which led to the concrete being 1/2 inch off in off between the two separate rooms. Business states they were unable to do the job in the correct manner so they were unable to do the job correctly. " I have 4 reputable businesses that say otherwise.  You didn't put in any backer-board or leveler or membrane on top of the sub floor which created all the problems that you said wouldn't happen. The 4 companies have put everything in writing so this can be escalated if need be.  If you would like I can send you the paperwork with the detailed instructions on how to fix it that way you can implement it with us if you truly want to fix the problem. Basically the whole project though is going to have to be redone because of the wall being on the floor and the floor being put in incorrectly and as I suspected all the tile is going to have to be replaced. Now if you want to make this right you can come over here and redo this entire project. Except this time it will be supervised by a specialist of our choice or as stated before you can refund the $[redacted] plus refund the rest of the money you were paid for, for the project plus the cost of the tile. This matter is not just going to go away.  You should not be in the business doing construction work and laying tile when you don't know what you are doing.
Regards,
[redacted]
