Complaint: [redacted]
I am rejecting this response because:  I did not have this conversation with the manufacturer.  Tilt-in-Windows, the agent for [redacted] windows and [redacted] have both refused to accept responsibility for the corroded screens and to abide by the agreed upon terms of our contract. Each concern has endeavored to put responsibility on the other.  I have attached a copy of the contract that I signed where I very specifically asked that the screens be given the same warranty as the windows.  This was 100% agreed upon by Tilt-in-Windows.  They have been awful to work with.

Review: On Tues., 7/23, I stupidly paid Tilt In Windows in entirety for a job that was not completely finished. At issue are the doors. I paid Tilt In $250 to install new wheels and attend to the lock on my siding door. Every time I call about this door, the parts are on order. This is an [redacted] door and the parts are available at most [redacted].

The second door is a screen door. I paid $650 for a white (**) [redacted] door. What was installed was an [redacted] door of lesser value, with brass trim. I did not notice this was the wrong door until after I paid them BUT, I called immediately about the brass. Not only did I not want brass, it is not recommended for the shore -- it pits in the salt air.

Weeks later, I finally able to speak with [redacted], the owner, I first asked about the slider. He immediately became agitated and said that the door was moving better than before Tilt In came out. I reminded him that I paid for new wheels. He insisted that they were on order. When [redacted] the installer was at my house in July, [redacted] called about the wheels and he was told them that they were on order. And I entered into this contract with Tilt In in June.

Then I mentioned the brass door. He said that the brass was installed as a up grade and further lied about the door. I wound up hanging up on him after he threatened me.

Tilt In contacted on Fri., 8/16. By then, I had discovered that door was not a [redacted]. They were to come out on Tues and finish. Since [redacted] did not have white, they were to use nickel trim. At 3 pm on Tues., I called them. The office never had me on the schedule. Not only did I rearrange my personal appointments but I turned down 2 appointments that I would have earned $205 on.

A worker came to my house yesterday. Again the parts are on order. [redacted] parts that you can purchase at a [redacted].Desired Settlement: $900. I paid $250 for new wheels and to have the lock on the slider fixed. I paid $600 for a [redacted] screen door.

If they do not want to refund me, finish the job, with the [redacted] door IMMEDIATELY.

Regards,

Review: I purchased [redacted] Series 8500 replacement windows from Tilt-in-Windows (TIW)on October 11, 2011. The windows were installed in the spring of 2012. We remove the screens to these windows each fall as part of closing up our cottage for the winter season. In June of 2013, I noticed that there was a breakdown in the finish on a number of the screens and contacted TIW by phone. Someone from TIW came to my home and agreed that this breakdown had occurred, that it should not have and that they would send a [redacted] representative - the manufacturer - to inspect the screens. This never happened. I called TIW on numerous occasions to request that these screens be replaced as per our contract guarantee. I was assured by Leonard P, the owner, and Rick or Jude, employee/installers, that our guarantee was good and that Tilit-in-Windows would take care of this problem. In the fall of 2014, during one of my calls, TIW advised me that they needed to contact the manufacturer, but that this breakdown definitely should not have occurred. Before August of 2015 I had never received a call or any type of contact from anyone at [redacted]. TIlt-in-Windows assured me that they regularly provided replacement windows at the shore and this problem was never an issue. My contract states that there is a lifetime warranty on all materials and workmanship. Labor warranty will be for 5 years. . Trim coil and screen frames will have the same full warranty as windows. I spoke once this summer with a manager from [redacted] who told me that Tilt-in-Windows, their agent to me, had altered their warranty and that they were responsible to replace my screens with the appropriate frames. In my last conversation with Leonard P, he told me not to be so tight with my money. That I would have to pay for new screens. After arguing with him he told me he would contact [redacted], the [redacted] rep, and get me new screens under the radar! I want what I was guaranteed!Desired Settlement: I wish to have the screens replaced with screens that will withstand the salt air. I live along the seashore. The salesman was in my home. I told him of my concerns about the screens and he assured me verbally and in writing that my screens would be covered. Their servicemen, who visited my home, agreed that this corrosion should not have happened. They gave me the wrong screens, I want them to make this right. To honor our agreement.

Review: I contracted Tilt In to install windows and a [redacted] screen door. ( I previously filed with the Revdex.com as they originally installed the wrong model door.) I called in April reporting the door was not opening properly, mentioned it was not lining up with the strike plate correctly. When [redacted] came to inspect the door, I told him that I often needed to lock the door to reset it so I could open it. The door seemed off balance to me. He thought the screws in the door handle were too tight and loosened them. A week or two later, I called again: the door was harder to open and a piece of stripping flew off. I also mentioned that there was a problem locking one of the windows. Whenever I call, I give them my availability. I told them Weds. morning. [redacted] showed Weds. afternoon; I was not there. Since it is an outside door, he may detected the problem opening it as well as now one of the upper hinges is bent. I called after he visited, reporting my availability for the upcoming week (Weds. morning) and reporting a problem locking a second window. I reported a problem with this window shortly after it was installed. Tilt In never called back, never came out, and the door just gets worse. I could understand if I lived across the state but if they use the toll bridge, I am about 10 minutes from there showroom. Why not make an appointment with me and do the proper repairs?Desired Settlement: Since they do not know anything about screen doors, I want a refund on the door so I can purchase one from a capable installer. Also, I enough money to properly repair or replace the windows as they are a problem.
