Tim Agnew Roofing Reviews (1)

Review: I am writing this letter of complaint against Tim Agnew doing business as Red Hill Construction & Roofing. On June 14, 2012 we paid a total of $6,615.00 for a new metal roof. Within a month of completion it began to leak we have called repeatedly and he will not return our calls or come back. We have had two different contractors come and do repairs and one is coming back in the Spring to remove and repair one whole side of the roof.Desired Settlement: Repair the roof so it does not leak or refund money paid so we con have it repaired.

Response:

I completed [redacted]'s roof in June of 2012 and [redacted] did contact me and said he had a leak on his porch within just a few weeks after completed. I went to his house and he showed me that water was seaping down the wall on the outside, under the porch.

I took 2 men with me and we tryed to address the problem. At a later date he told me it was still leaking. I took 2 men with me and we lifted the metal and put expandable foam under the edges, at the valley metal. I got a call from him a lot later and he left me a message telling me that he had another contractor going to fix it and he cussed me on his message. I did not call him back cause I new he was mad and already had someone doing it. Haven't heard from him till this letter. I do feel very badly that this has happened and am willing to try again.

The leak in my opinion is more than just my fault. After removing shingles, I found that the roof was sheated with boards that have large gaps between them, and that causes problems when trying to screw metal in straight lines, we removed and re-installed some boards to make them align up.

$10 brittle boards also tend to want to split when screwed every 9" apart. I assumed the roof had solid sheating or T & G boards before I started. I was wrong so we tryed to make a difficult situation work. His complaint letter stating that I have not returned or took his calls is incorrect.

Me and Mr. [redacted] had a good working relationship until I failed to be able to fix it.

His request for 2000.00 to me sounds like the cost to sheat that side of the house the way it should have been done before.

Re-sheating the house was not in the original price. I am still willing to make things right with Mr. [redacted].

Am sorry for his inconvenience.

Thank you.

Response:

I have reviewed the response offer made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint. For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.

I am responding to your letter I received on April 23, 2014. I completely disagree with his response. He only returned to my house on one occasion and when he did he put a bunch of caulking on the cracks and it looks awful. When he removed the shingles if he thought there was going to be a problem with leaks in the future why did he not address the issue with the boards then. That is why we hired a professional . to tell us what we needed. I called him on several occasions and left messages and he would not call back. I did become angry but I never cussed him. I spoke with one of the men that works for him named Mr. [redacted] and he stated that they didn't have time to come back and fix it. I am not going to be satisfied until it is resolved however I do not want him doing the work I have spoken to more people that he has installed their roofs and they are having trouble also. I've hired a contractor that is coming in the spring to pull off one whole side and fix it like it should have been and he said it would run around $3,000.00, but I will settle for $2,000.00.

Thank you for your time and effort.
