appointment it was noted that the tooth had a root canal done on it by a. previous dentist. She was told at that time that I could try to repair...

the tooth by placing a post into the canal and bonding the fracture part of the tooth to the tooth that remained in the mouth. She was told that this restoration could last a number of years or it could fail sooner, A few days later she returned and the restoration had failed. At that time she was given the option of an extraction and placement of an implant or crowning the tooth. I told her that I believed the tooth could be saved and that a crown was able to be place. Due to the depth that the tooth was fractured I had to place a cord deep into the gingiva.
The freatment is as follows:

Pt presented with a fractured tooth 48, placed a post and core and bonded facial fracture of the tooth to the remaining tooth structure,
Discussed an implant if this didn't work or possible crown.

Tooth 48 was loose again and I decided that a crown would be a good restoration.
Pt was given 1,7 ml of Septocaine with 1 :100,000 epi
the impression was taken and a temporary was place. The patient was then sent to the dental lab to match the shade of the adjacent teeth,

Tried to deliver the crown but found that there was not enough space between the preped tooth and the opposing dentition. Re-preped the. tooth and took another impression. Used that crown for the temporary because it was aesthetically better than the original temporary.
The patient returned later that day to have the temp re-cemented, At that time I used a permanent cement rather than the temporary cement so that the crown would not come out until the final restoration was placed.
