My name is *** ***. I have been doing transmissions at this location
since 1985. I am a small one man
shop. This letter is in response to my
first customer complaint filed to the Revdex.com. I hope that you will thoroughly read my side
of the story and consider it adequately
I am writing in regards to a complaint
submitted by *** ***. ***,
brought out a transmission for a ford diesel f-wheel drive truck
When a customer opts to bring the transmission in out of the vehicle, this is
called a "CARRY IN". He told
me he wanted it repaired. The
transmission looked very bad with a lot of wear and age. It needed many parts. I then disassembled a large portion in front
of him to show him the condition.
I explained to him two options; A
rebuild would be months and 12,mile warranty. A repair was days regardless of mileage
He told me to repair it and I quoted him a price. He agreed to this price and told me to repair
it.
Not too many days later, he called and
said it would not always go into reverse.
I told him to bring it back and I would install another valve body it
the truck at no charge to correct the problem.
He never brought out the truck to my shop. He came in and said he was having trouble
with reverse when hot. I told him to
bring back the transmission and I would fix it.
He did not want to remove the transmission, since this was a carry in, I
told him it would be $fluid and labor to remove and reinstall He said nothing and left.
Offering a “Carry In” kind of service
often makes me weary, since many vital aspects of the proper operation of the
transmission are left in the customers hands during their installation Therefore, out of my control. I think it is out of the scope of this
letter, but I am willing to detail many common cases if necessary to illustrate
my point. If I did not have to offer
this “Carry In” service to be competitive in my market, I would likely not do
so. I am available to discuss or answer
questions any time at ###-###-####
Sincerely,
*** ***
