Review: Quoted a price on repairs, told hoses on vehicle were fine, when called to notify us vehicle was ready the total due was more than $200 quoted price. Mechanic replaced the hoses that he stated were fine without notifying me first. This shop also has an underage, unlicensed teenager preforming repairs. When I went to discuss this with him prior to picking up the vehicle, he immediately got irate, started yelling. Owner of business continually asked him to calm down and tried to come to an agreement on price, then the mechanic verbally threatened me saying, "I know where you live." Completely unprofessional and not a reliable shop. It took 3 weeks for me to get my vehicle back. Considered notifying police of his behavior. Upon inspection once vehicle was brought home, the fuel pump continually runs without stopping, so repair was not even done correctly.Desired Settlement: Business needs to notify customer of extra expenses and get the authorization to continue repair. Since repair is not even correct, I feel a refund should be issued but know this business will not, so please ask that no further contact made to me from this shop or authorities will be notified.

Response:

Concerning complaint - #[redacted]Customer -[redacted]Mr. [redacted], and his wife have been customers of ours since 2008. This is the firstcomplaint they have ever made. Date of service 7/27/13 Vehicle - 1977 Chevrolet TruckRestoration project Vehicle was bought in to adjust valves, and replace customer supplied fuel pump. Thisvehicle is a antique vehicle in the middle of restoration. Also customer supplied fuelpump for us to put on. We gave him guage fuel line, solder, and wire ties for for free atno cost. I took customer to Kowaski's and he chose the fuel pump and paid for it.Customer was able to get our discount. Mr. [redacted] came by our shop unannounced several times. I was one man down and verybehind on my daily work. I informed him this will take a little longer that I would workthis in throughout my other work. I spent 10 hours labor working on this vehicle whichis $80 x l0 total $800. I only charged him $290 labor, Mr. [redacted] approved other itemsthat I suggested he should do. In the beginning the price was only $200 that was only foradjusting valves, and replacing his fuel pump. That was for labor only. The othercharges $110 for parts, and $25 for fuel. I am shocked that he did not think there wouldbe charges for the parts, and the fuel because vehicle had to be test drove. He was fine with everything that I was doing. As far as my son working on his vehicle.[redacted] is not working here. He was helping me mound the shop, trying to work offmoney owed me for car repairs, and acting as an apprentice. Yes I was showing himhow to adjust valves. Certainly I did not let my son do these repairs alone. He is 17, anda senior at [redacted], and on the golf team. Mr. [redacted] thought it was great that hehad interest in learning about vehicles. When I was finished with the truck my partner [redacted] saw he had called on a Sat. July27, 20l3 from his work. She called him to tell him truck was finished. When she toldhim how much bill was he immediately got upset, and said it is only suppose to be $200.That he was on his way right now to get his truck. This is from [redacted] - I had a customer sitting in my office when [redacted] walked in.When he opened the door I could already see that he was angry. I told him [redacted] wasout in the garage, and to go see him to look at his truck. I walked out and gave [redacted] thekeys and informed him [redacted] looked angry. The customer that was in the office with mewanted to drop off his antique Ford Mustang the next week. That he had seen the type ofcars that we worked on. He is the former owner of [redacted]. This was his firstvisit to our shop. He walked out into my garage to look at my 67 Elcamino inside theshop. [redacted] and [redacted] were at end of our building. The next thing I know I hear yelling.[redacted] is screaming at [redacted] that he has ripped him off. I asked our new customer wouldhe please leave. That things were not looking so good with this customer. [redacted] and[redacted] came into our main office. As far as the comment [redacted] made I know where youlive and work. [redacted] works at [redacted] and lives in a nice house in [redacted] - [redacted] wassaying you have the money to pay for this.We do not judge people by where they work or where they live. We have done a lot tohelp people that are struggling financially. Both [redacted] and [redacted] were screaming at eachother. I asked both of them to calm down, and lets try to resolve this. I was gettingready to call the police. [redacted] left the office, and [redacted] paid his bill. So out of the goodness of my heart I gave [redacted] $80 off of his bill. Again the laborshould have been $800 and we only charged him $290. As far as the fuel pump still having issues. The fuel pump is wired to same wire thatprevious fuel pump that had been wired by customer. [redacted] told [redacted] the fuel lineneeded to be replaced. This is where parts come into play. We provide no warrantywhen customer supplies their own parts. We would have been glad to work with Mr.[redacted] on the fuel pump issue. When you are restoring antquiqe vehicles it is a ongoingproject. You are never done. After this issue Mr [redacted] he is no longer welcomed hereat Timbrook Automotive. We have lots of great customers that come here. Never ever have I had a customer showoff as bad as this customer did. Mr. [redacted]'s father in Law has been a friend of mine for over 25 yeats, and delivcrs partsto us from [redacted]) he told [redacted] several times that [redacted] wanted histruck right. [redacted] was also referred by a co worker at [redacted] - [redacted] hasbeen a customer of ours since 2005. [redacted] is a fantastic technician, and goes the extramile for all of our customers. He will stand his ground when he is in the right. Thank YouTimbrook Automotive[redacted] & [redacted]

Response:

I have reviewed the response offer made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint. For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.[redacted] at no point told [redacted] to replace the fuel lines, [redacted] asked [redacted] if his were okay and [redacted] said they were, [redacted] changed them on his own. When a quote is given on repairs, labor costs are part of the quote, if the labor was going to be 10 hours, that should have been told to me. I am a very reasonable person and if I was told up front what the cost would be, everything would have been fine, it is the fact that I was NOT told that is so upsetting. The LIES must stop! [redacted] is very hot headed, showed just how out of control his temper is when he moved his mustang that was blocking my truck, he proceeded to speed off like he was drag racing, did 2 - 360 degree turns in the parking lot, and then proceeded to speed directly to the office door of the business like he was going to run straight through it. That is when [redacted] came out of the door and yelled at [redacted] "What is wrong with you?" Very mature. [redacted] at no point got out of control the way [redacted] did, he was very angry but was very controlled unlike [redacted] also walked past my wife who was waiting in her car in the parking lot and yelled "Your boy ain't right". Also the remark [redacted] made when I wrote the check was totally unprofessional, he said "[redacted] you better check and make sure that is good and won't bounce". Really, this is how you treat your customers????As far as your son, if he has bills to repay you for, he can work on your vehicles not customers, he is not a mechanic and there are classes and schools for him to attend to learn the trade not on other peoples property. If you run a legit business, why is it a problem for a customer to stop by and check on the progress of his vehicle, you had the truck for more than 3 weeks. I needed to know why it was taking so long and there was no communication from you so I stopped by on my way home from work.We WERE customers of [redacted] AUTOMOTIVE not Timbrook Automotive when [redacted] was the owner and mechanic, he communicated with me and my wife on everything and never charged us more than we were quoted. I choose on my own to give Timbrook Automotive a try even knowing [redacted] was no longer owner. My father-in-law has nothing to do with what repairs are okayed, it is my truck and I make the call. Call me do not ask someone else what I want.I nor my wife, relatives, or friends will ever do business with you. You are a disgrace to honest businesses and the automotive trade.Regards,[redacted]
