Tim's Transmission Services Reviews (3)

Revdex.com:
I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint.  For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.

I will eat the 1600$ and have someone else rebuild it out of my pocket, not fair for me but I guess if I want it to work as it should ill pay another 1500  thanks anyway
Regards,

My name is [redacted].  I have been doing transmissions at this location
since 1985.  I am a small one man
shop.  This letter is in response to my
first customer complaint filed to the Revdex.com.  I hope that you will thoroughly read my side
of the story and consider it adequately.
I am writing in regards to a complaint
submitted by [redacted].  [redacted],
brought out a transmission for a 1995 ford diesel f-250 4 wheel drive truck.
When a customer opts to bring the transmission in out of the vehicle, this is
called a "CARRY IN".  He told
me he wanted it repaired.  The
transmission looked very bad with a lot of wear and age.  It needed many parts.  I then disassembled a large portion in front
of him to show him the condition.
I explained to him two options; A
rebuild would be 12 months and 12,000 mile warranty.  A repair was 30 days regardless of mileage.
He told me to repair it and I quoted him a price.  He agreed to this price and told me to repair
it.
Not too many days later, he called and
said it would not always go into reverse.
I told him to bring it back and I would install another valve body it
the truck at no charge to correct the problem.
He never brought out the truck to my shop.  He came in and said he was having trouble
with reverse when hot.  I told him to
bring back the transmission and I would fix it.
He did not want to remove the transmission, since this was a carry in, I
told him it would be $400.00 fluid and labor to remove and reinstall.  He said nothing and left.
Offering a “Carry In” kind of service
often makes me weary, since many vital aspects of the proper operation of the
transmission are left in the customers hands during their installation.  Therefore, out of my control.  I think it is out of the scope of this
letter, but I am willing to detail many common cases if necessary to illustrate
my point.  If I did not have to offer
this “Carry In” service to be competitive in my market, I would likely not do
so.  I am available to discuss or answer
questions any time at ###-###-####.

Sincerely,

Review: I had [redacted] rebuild my 1995 ford f250 powerstroke transmission, when I dropped it off he tore it apart in front of me showing me everything that happened, we talked it over about replacing everything (worn, or that looked iffy), well I got the transmission back from him which I said if anything happened he would garuntee it for a month. when I got the transmission back in the truck once the transmission got hot, the reverse does not work. I took it back to [redacted] to get a answer "just drive it" well I drove it and still to this day it acts up. in the process it ruined my rear brake hubs. I took it back to [redacted] to ask him if there was anything he could do to help me out and I get the reply "i can do it but you have to pull the transmission out and bring it to me or ill have to charge you about 400$. I told him I didnt have the [redacted]e or help to pull it out, and that I told him in the beginning that if anything was iffy to him to go ahead and replace it.Desired Settlement: I want him to pull and fix the transmission free of charge because whatever is wrong with it is interal and his fault,I already have about 1400$ in parts and labor the first time around
