We can understand ***'s frustration with the boat failing. This was a Premier w/ Mercury stroke Pontoon purchased (Paid In Full 5-12-17) and delivered by mid May of and was sold "As Is" except for a few noted items on the sales contract (detail boat, replace rear
starboard corner casting, and make sure lights work). The boat ran for the majority of summer until we received our first service call and notice of any issue with the boat. The Service order was written on 8-16-August. It was about the leaking pontoon. We scheduled a time to pull the boat out, we had the pontoon welded and pressure checked, and delivered back to *** at NO CHARGE. We understand that pontoon leaks happen and don't always appear right away and we often deal with them on New Pontoons as well we wanted to take care of him because of our relationship. Days later 8-26-we received a call that the motor doesn't idle and will die when put into gear. We sent technicians out and found the oil tank was empty. *** failed to add oil to the motor. Our techs then checked compression and was low on #cylinder. We called him and explained. It is unfortunate *** did not take responsibility for checking the oil level through out the summer as cycle motors do require injection oil and that was the cause of failure

Tinus Marine sold the boat "As Is" and it was delivered in Mid May of 2017.  There is no warranty on this boat and we feel bad for the situation that has happened, but the whole summer went by before this happened, it cannot be a Tinus problem when it goes through all of the biggest boating weekends (Memorial Day Weekend, Fathers Day, 4th of July).  The majority of use on any boat happens during June and July.  One weekend of good use can result with the need to add oil.  It is the owners responsibility to check on his oil level.  Again, it is a 20 year old boat that was "Sold As Is", the customer is responsible as soon as he took delivery of the boat.

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint.  Tinus Marine is stating the problem was caused by no oil in the engine.  Due to abnormally high water this summer, we had a long period of no wake regulations and did not use the boat regularly.  We didn't use the boat enough even to add fuel from the original fueling performed by Tinus Marine.  So the lack of oil in engine would be a Tinus mistake, not ours.  The August service call about the engine issues we were experiencing was the second call regarding acceleration and engine performance issues we were experiencing.
