I  received your letter regarding a customer complaint filed by [redacted]. I would like to start off with a few details about the deal we made with [redacted]. He and his father came into the lot looking to buy a car, cash. [redacted] only came in with $800. First off, we usually don't take...

anything less than $1000 as a down payment. However we made an exception since he was recommended from one of our good customers and sold them the vehicle with $800 down payment. [redacted] and [redacted]  came to an agreement that [redacted]  would come in and give weekly payments to pay off the car before the temporary plate expired (45 days). We would never sell a car knowing it had a bad cylinder head especially to a customer that still owed us $ 1,150. The 1998 Honda Civic was running perfectly fine and passed state law required emissions tests with no problems before the car left the lot. A car with a warped head would have never passed emissions testing. The car was driven by 3 of our employees on multiple occasions to ensure the car was indeed reliable before we sold the vehicle. [redacted] claims the car was overheating 25 minutes off the lot. but did not contact us at all. [redacted] contacted [redacted] over the phone to update us on the status of the payments for the car. which he had made none a month later. That is when he told us the car was inoperable. If he would have reported to us from the get go. that the car was  having problems, we would have done our best to solve the issue. We spoke to his father 9/6/14 and he told us to pick  up the car because they could not invest any more money to further determine what the problem was or pay the rest of the money owed to us. We had a tow truck pick up the car and we received the car with a dismantled engine. The parts were scattered all over the engine bay and the trunk space. Additionally, there were a few engine parts missing including the cylinder head he claims was warped. The issue here seems to be resolved and is no longer a problem. If you have any questions, feel free to contact us.
