Tipton County Contracting & Renovations Reviews (%countItem)

Poor quality of work on instllation of a new HVAC unit. Poor quality of work on a new bonus room. Poor quality of work on wood beams and post.
Warren F was hired to help me renovate a house I had bought. 1.) I hired him to install an new HVAC system. He didn't install a pan under the furnace. I asked him to even though he told me it wasn't necessary. A few weeks later the furnace leaked and almost filled the pan. had the pan not been installed water would have caused ceiling. He didn't stall a venitlation pipe causing condensation in the insulation. He didn't caulk around the vent pipe in the roof. He disconnected the old condenser after he installed the new one. I learned today that the old and new one couldn't run on the current circuit breaker which he was suppose to install but never did. 2.) I hired him to finished the attic for a bonuse room. Did it really quick and once the drywall aged some it looked terrible. There's tape bubble everyhwere and horrible joints. He was suppose to install door handles and knobs, suppose to trim out a window, was suppose to caulk a door but never did. He also ran the new HVAC unit without a filter while he was sanding drywall in the bonus room. I asked him to clean the unit but I doubt he did. I asked him to install capret in the upstairs but he said he doesnt do that until all construction was completed. After he showed up less and less to do the work and the low quality of his work became clear I asked him repeatedly to install carpet that I had alreayd paid for but he never did. 3.) I hired him to put up posts and columns in the living room/dining room. He used staples to hold up the cypress boards. There's huge gaps in the boards and you can see the staples and it looks awful. 4.) I gave him a deposit to install front and back door and a picture window. After almost two months he keeps telling me he'll start the work "next week". After I realized how poorly he installed the new HVAC system I decided I no longer want him in my house. This man has no integrity. He'll take your money and do subpar work in return. After paying him tens of thousands of $$ I am now having to hire other people to repair the poor work and finish what he started.

Desired Outcome

I want a refund of $2215 which was the deposit for the doors and windows for which he never started. I want $600 which is what is costing me to have a new breaker box install and fix his electrical mistakes so that I can run both units. I want $1500 I already paid for the carpet, door knobs and handle and for somenone to come behind him and fix the poor drywall job. I want $1000 so I can buyer additional cypress wood and pay someone else to install the posts and beams correctly. In total I am asking a total of $5315 from him.

Tipton County Contracting & Renovations Response • Jun 19, 2019

My company was hired in January 2019 to do some repairs and additional projects on this house. For the first 3-4 months everything was going as planned and the customer was very happy with all the completed work. An issue arose with the AC system, and it seems around this time the customer became unhappy with other previously completed work also. We give all of our customers a one year workmanship warranty and stand behind it. Once the issue with the AC system came up, everything went downhill from there as far as what she was happy with. I was quite confused as to what was going on.
After discussing further with customer, we did ultimately reach an agreement of a refund and also to repair and touch up certain areas as specified by the customer.
Although I did not agree with everything, I did want to resolve the issues.

Mr F and I reached an agreemment where he reimbursed me $1830 for repairs to the HVAC unit and the electrical as well as refunding me $2215.39 deposit for work he didnt to and $1000 for the damage ceiling caused by the leak of the pan from the improper installation of the HVAC unit. We also agreed that he would send his people to fix the drywall in the bonus room and install the carpet upstairs as well as in the stair well at no further cost to me.

His people came for a few days at the end of May and started the drywall repair but I haven't seen him since and he hasn't responded to my request to come back. I am giving Mr. F 2 weeks to get the reapirs done an carpet installed or else I will pay someone else to finish the job and I will submit the invoice for him to pay or else I will take him to small claims court at which point I will ask for punitive damages on top of court cost, filing fees and actual costs to repair all damages.

I'm attaching pictures of the repairs as left by his guy. In one of the pictures you can see the drywall tape he used. It failed because there wasn't enough drywall compound behind it especially when it dried so the tape started bubbling. Basically most all the seams/joints have to be redone.

He made a few amends but this is far from over. I am 2 months behind and counting and way over budget due to his ineptness and incompetence. I hope he will step up and resolve this issue for good.
