Dear Ms***, We have tried to get in touch with Ms [redacted] several times and have been unsuccessfulWe have called her several times, left messages and emailed her Tipton Honda is prepared to sell the red CRV to Ms [redacted] at the selling price quoted of $25,on 2-28-The delayed response to you is due to not actually speaking with Ms [redacted] in order to resolve the complaint As of today, we have not had communication with the potential customer, although we have done our due diligence in order to resolve the matter Please feel free to contact me with any questions Sincerely, [redacted] , General Manager Tipton Honda 619-440-ext***

Revdex.com: I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted] , and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear belowAs stated previously, one of my concerns is that car repair shops know how to adjust things just to patch up problems that they created themselvesI drove this car into this dealership in better working condition than what they returned to meThis car used to drive very well at MPH as long as I did not over accelerate, now it does notWhile driving home, after the car really warmed up, and after I had made the phone calls to [redacted] (thinking that the car was fixed), the car started backfiring and almost stalling on the freeway Unfortunately, I should have waited until I got all the way home with no problem and then make the phone calls; it was just too soon to make the phone to Mr***, because right afterward the car started running horrificallyThe RPM Indicator was higher than for the driving speed, and it still is I had to drive at MPH and force the car engine at its high RPM; the car sounded like the engine was being "forced to drive" I suspected that the Tipton would do something to patch the car up and just get it out of their in an attempt to avoid taking responsibility for the engine that they caused to extremely overheatMr [redacted] claims that they "Checked" Tolerances to make sure the engine was not harmed by the overheating, yet they never stated what tolerances they checked, or what the tolerance values wereTo check tolerances, they would have needed to take the engine apart and measure the pistons width, the wear on the piston rings, camshaft bearings and bushings and excessive wear on the camshaft as wells as the crankshaft, possibly even more tolerance checks that needed to be done that I am not aware of Mr [redacted] never provided proof that they checked the above tolerances, with calipers and measuring devicesI showed Mr [redacted] how there was a lot of pressure coming out of the oil filler cap opening which is a sign of light "Blow By" where the cylinders got worn in a concave fashion and were no longer straight, that pressure was not present before as wellThe car is worse than when I drove it in, and it is not repaired, I cannot accept this as dismissed or repaired in a satisfactory manner

Brought in our Camry to fix a three foot dent in the rear side panel We spoke with [redacted] the collision center manager We were told it would take five days and five days later we were more than pleased with the result Based on our experience we will most certainly return if we are unfortunate enough to get another dent They do excellent work!!!

RE:
Invoice ***
Dear Mr***, this is to confirm
the receipt of your letter dated December 30th, Please be advised that a certified letter (
9566) was sent to you on
December 26th, 2015. Your letter immediately brings forth
conflicting and contrary information about my car that I brought in to your
dealership for inspectionYou state: “This
was causing your vehicle to be difficult to start and cut out on hard acceleration.”
The vehicle was NEVER hard to start
as noted in my first letter to you, the only time that it cut out was on hard acceleration
after mph. You are misrepresenting
the facts about a “hard to start” car that was not an issue
After the radiator
cap incident, *** made an attempt to convince me to replace the whole engine
for $3,600.00, knowing that Tipton may have ruined my engine. You mentioned you checked the “Tolerances,”
what Tolerances and what were the readings? Did you do a metal stress test to
determine if the engine casing had not been overheated? I doubt thatWhile the
rings and the pistons “may be” in the correct range for the engine to work
temporarily, the fact that the piston sleeves may have expanded due to the heat
may still cause problems in a few months
*** promised to
return my car to its preexisting conditionMy car engine had NEVER been
overheated before, and it has not been returned to its preexisting condition as
promised, to return it to its prior condition it would have to be an engine
that has not been overheated
While the car engine
does have a lot of miles, we maintained the car very well and added engine
additives that would make the engine last longer as stated before the car ran
great under MPHWe could have used for many more years, but now I feel that
the life expectancy of the car engine has been further reduced due to
your mechanics
negligence that may have weakened my car engine further
I have a video where
we got off the off ramp to investigate why the car was heavily smoking which shows
the radiator cap lodged between the Engine Hood and the car frame. I have to reject your claim that the vehicle is
repaired and in good working order and maintain my claim with the Revdex.com
Sincerely
*** ***

Dear ***,This in response to your Revdex.com complaint in regards to the service of your Honda Civic. You initially brought your vehicle in on
December 18th, for a check engine light This was causing your vehicle to be difficult to start and cut out on hard acceleration Our technician found that the necessary repairs consisted of replacing the cylinder head At that time you were recommended by *** to do those repairs along with other recommended repairs consisting of replacement all four struts, repair of oil leaks, and fluid services. Also during your initial visit on December 18th, *** did recommend that you replace the lower engine as well- with nearly 252,miles on the current engine, it would make sense to replace the entire unit If you were having issues with the head, the possibility of issues with the lower engine is likely This is the reason *** recommended a good used engine Again this discussion occurred prior to the radiator cap incident We apologize for the incident that occurred with regards to the radiator cap As offered by *** we will reimburse you for the diagnosis charge of $ When your car arrived here, we started it up and ran it There was no knock and no apparent problem We did a full inspection and determined coolant was leaking between the #and #cylinders We removed the cylinder head inspected both the head and the engine block for any excessive warpage Both were within the Honda specifications We have proceeded to replace the cylinder head gasket, head bolts and thermostat With this complete inspection, it appears the engine did not get hot for very long.Although we completely understand your frustration with the situation, please understand that we are unable to compensate you with the engine Just like warranties under Honda or any other manufacture for that point, if a problem occurs with the engine they have to repair what has failed on the unit. Thank you, *** ***, Service Director

I feel compelled to share the WORST sales/business experience I have ever endured Have you ever looked someone directly in the eyes and shaken hands on a negotiated deal only to find out a few hours later a handshake means nothing? Well, based on my experience trying to buy a new car from Tipton Honda last week, the sales team at Tipton Honda certainly does not place any value whatsoever on a handshake or an agreement
Last week, I was helped by a gentleman named Oscar (from the internet sales team) He had me come to the dealership and get a value for my trade-in The plan to was to tramy car as part of the price for a new minivan Oscar was extremely helpful and professional, going back and forth between myself and his management until we agreed upon a price for the car and the trade-in He wrote all the details down, shook my hand on the agreed-upon price, and asked I return with my wife to test-drive the car at 5:00pm Oscar notified me the car we were buying wasn't on the lot, but was on its way and that we could test drive it once it arrived I left to fill to fill out the financial forms and to clear everything out of my car I called my wife and she was ecstatic that we had found the car we'd been searching for
After not hearing from him or anyone else, at 5:00pm I called back and the call was directed to Daniel C (spelling) Daniel proceeded to tell me they were not able to secure the car and there was nothing he could do I informed him Oscar and I had shaken hands on a negotiated price for the car and that I was told it would be there by 5:00pm for us to test drive Daniel's response was "This is retail and we can't control what happens." To that, I say you can certainly control your sales team and instruct them not to shake hands on a deal when you can't even guarantee the car is available! Any remote chance of the car not being available was never mentioned Throughout all of my communication with Oscar, I was repeatedly told the car WOULD be there by 5:00pm My biggest complaint to Tipton is not being up-front about the situation Had he said there was a chance the car might not be available, my wife and I wouldn't have been so let down when it didn't turn out I don't understand how the whole car buying process works, but I do know the Tipton team is unprofessional, misleading, and I would be very careful if you are considering buying a car from Tipton, especially a car that is not on their lot
Sincerely,
*** ***

Brought in our 1998 Camry to fix a three foot dent in the rear side panel. We spoke with [redacted] the collision center manager. We were told it would take five days and five days later we were more than pleased with the result. Based on our experience we will most certainly return if we are unfortunate enough to get another dent. They do excellent work!!!

I left my headlights on overnight. The battery died. Tipton sent a mechanic to come check out the car when I couldn't get it to start with jumper cables. They managed to get the car started, they brought it back to the dealership for a check up, replaced the battery AND washed the car, inside and out; all within an hour. I am beside myself with the level of service I received from Tipton Honda of El Cajon.

We agreed to honor the price of the new 2014 CRV to the customer. She chooses not to do business with Tipton Honda. She also states that the offer was only made by Tipton Honda after the Revdex.com got involved. This was not the case, the offer was made to her after she contacted the General Manager and before the Revdex.com emailed us. We do not promote upsetting customers and have tried to resolve the complaint with the customer.

Revdex.com:
I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint.  For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.
[I have chosen to take my business elsewhere. The offer to rectify the bait and switch incident that happened was only offered after 4 different requests were made directly to business and denied and the Revdex.com had to get involved. The unethical business practices of switching an offer an hour after being made is classic bait and switch and all buyers should be wary of this dealership. Consumers should not have to get the Revdex.com involved for the dealership to honor the prices they are quoting an hour after they are quoted. I, Thank the Revdex.com for their efforts and can only hope this incident will help change the culture of business practices at this establishment. ]

In response to the above complaint.
We have completely removed the customers information from our system.
However, the customer may receive mailers from American Honda which are generated by American Honda but are made to look as though they are from...

Tipton Honda. If customer is registered with owners.honda.com, she can set her dealer preferences as well as contact preferences.

I will not be contacting the customer with a response, I feel that this would only upset her more since she asked not to be ever contacted again by us.

Revdex.com:
I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint.  For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.
As stated previously, one of my concerns is that car repair shops know how to adjust things just to patch up problems that they created themselves.
I drove this car into this dealership in better working condition than what they returned to me.
This car used to drive very well at 65 MPH as long as I did not over accelerate, now it does not.
While driving home, after the car really warmed up, and after I had made the phone calls to [redacted] (thinking that the car was fixed), the car started backfiring and almost stalling on the freeway.  Unfortunately, I should have waited until I got all the way home with no problem and then make the phone calls;  it was just too soon to make the phone to Mr. [redacted], because right afterward the car started running horrifically.
The RPM Indicator was higher than normal for the driving speed, and it still is.  I had to drive at 40 MPH and force the car engine at its high RPM; the car sounded like the engine was being "forced to drive".
I suspected that the Tipton would do something to patch the car up and just get it out of their in an attempt to avoid taking responsibility for the engine that they caused to extremely overheat.
Mr. [redacted] claims that they "Checked" Tolerances to make sure the engine was not harmed by the overheating, yet they never stated what tolerances they checked, or what the tolerance values were.
To check tolerances, they would have needed to take the engine apart and measure the pistons width, the wear on the piston rings, camshaft bearings and bushings and excessive wear on the camshaft as wells as the crankshaft, possibly even more tolerance checks that needed to be done that I am not aware of.  Mr. [redacted] never provided proof that they checked the above tolerances, with calipers and measuring devices.
I showed Mr. [redacted] how there was a lot of pressure coming out of the oil filler cap opening which is a sign of light "Blow By" where the cylinders got worn in a concave fashion and were no longer straight, that pressure was not present before as well.
The car is worse than when I drove it in, and it is not repaired, I cannot accept this as dismissed or repaired in a satisfactory manner.

Hi [redacted],
We have since addressed the issue directly with the customer.  We apologize for the delay in response to update the Revdex.com on the progress of the issue.  We never received further notice from the Revdex.com that a required response was to be reported since the certified letter we received was directly from Mr. [redacted] himself.  Below you will find a summary of the actions that have been taken to address Mr. [redacted]'s concerns.
Thank you,

Re: [redacted]

I received his
certified letter on Monday January 11th 2016.  Mr. [redacted] came to the dealership on Saturday
Jan 16th around 11am. He started the car ands said there was
excessive smoke out the tailpipe and left the car here. Mr. [redacted] and I left
voicemails back and forth on the 18th. Finally we spoke and I
invited him down. I met him at the car and he had brought someone with him. He
had expressed concern about what he called smoke out the tailpipe. I explained
to him that it was condensation and if he drove it around the block and got the
exhaust heated up that it would be gone. He and the other person had the hood
up and were inspecting for 10-15 mins. [redacted] drove it with the friend and came
back in 6-7 minutes, got out of the car, looked at the exhaust pipe (that had
nothing coming out of it at this time like I explained) and he said to me “It
looks like you were right”. He then asked if I would clear the check engine
light because he said it would run better for awhile. I agreed and took it in
and cleared the ECM. I gave it to him, he said thank you. We shook hands and he
drove off with the car.
About 45 mins later I received a voicemail from Mr. [redacted]
saying he made it back to Chula Vista
and that it ran good. He said it “ran almost perfectly, except for that miss
(which what the original concern he came in for) but that’s another story”. He
said that the “oil additive he had been using must have saved the engine.”
Mr. [redacted] did tell me that this car had been sitting for 6 months
or so.

Sincerely,

Dear Ms. [redacted],
We have tried to get in touch with Ms. [redacted] several times and have been unsuccessful. We have called her several times, left messages and  emailed her.  Tipton Honda is prepared to sell the 2014 red CRV to Ms. [redacted] at the selling price quoted of...

$25,500.00 on 2-28-2014. The delayed response to you is due to not actually speaking with Ms. [redacted] in order to resolve the complaint.  As of today,  we have not had communication with the potential customer, although we have done our due diligence in order to resolve the matter.
Please feel free to contact me with any questions.

I had taken in my 2015 Honda Accord to find what a noise was in front of car, I was told the mechanic hears it but can't find the source, I was told to bring it back when noise gets worse. I bring car back and again I am told they hear the noise but can't find source so to bring it back when louder. Tipton had my car for 3 full days then tells me my car is washed and pick it up. My car was dirty not cleaned and then I notice on my invoice that the mileage was the same as when it went in upon picking it up, if Tipton tried to find the source my mileage would have changed so they had my car for 3 days and did not try to find the source. On the third day I called Tipton and was rudely scolded by Chrystal that I should have brought the car in sooner, I told her I had brought it in sooner which she then told me I toke car to wrong dept., later I was told by Chris in service that Chrystal knew about my car and had it the last time when I brought it in for the noise. I can not believe the deception from Tipton Honda on ignoring my car and letting it sit for 3 days while they did nothing, mind you I was not offered a rental since my car was under warranty. I was told that when a warranty comes in that Tipton is not allowed to take a car apart to find the problem, if that is true then how in the world does Tipton fix warranties.
