I have been in the handyman business for over years and take great pride in my work and in customer satisfaction I treat my customers as I would want to be treated and perform the work as I would want done This customer contacted me the first of October I met her at her residence to see what work she was needing She stated in our first visit that her future ex- [redacted] would be paying for it, so she would need a quote October 7th - I emailed the below quote to her and she responded on October 9th by text that her [redacted] approved I ordered the doors we discussed from [redacted] in Jeffersonville, Indiana October 20th - She received confirmation that the doors were in and stated she would need to clear her schedule for me to start working I was unable to pick up the doors until she gave [redacted] the okay, which she texted me on October 23th at 8:p.mthat "everything ok now on order, you can pick up." I responded at 8:p.mthat I would pick them up in the morning and be out to her house October 24th - I, along with my helpers, picked up the doors from [redacted] and went to her house, arriving before a.m We proceeded to do the work described in the email below Before installing the doors, I measured them only to find out they were not the size listed on the order I explained this to the customer She was very happy with the work completed the first day and offered to pay that day, but I said she could wait and pay upon completion I texted her at 7:p.mthat night that I had returned the doors to [redacted] and ordered new ones November 1st - She texted me at 12:p.mthat the doors would be in that day or the next I asked if she could be off Tues and Weds of the next week and she said she'd check and asked if I would be finished Weds, I stated yes I wouldShe texted days later saying she would be home and I responded I would pick up the doors and be there Tues morningNovember 7th - I arrived at her house before a.mand completed the work I could for that day Later that evening, she texted me that the new doors were only half glass, not the full glass Note that when I returned the first set of doors to [redacted] , I told them we wanted the same doors, but needed to make sure they were the correct size [redacted] placed that order, not me November 8th - She texted me that she had ordered new doors yesterday and [redacted] would cancel the current order when I returned the doors She found new doors online at [redacted] that she liked better than the ones previously picked out, so she ordered them I arrived at her house by p.mon Nov 8th to get the vinyl off the front of house I returned the doors back to [redacted] on Nov 9th.December 10th - She texted me that someone was out on medical leave at work so she was working a lot She would need to terminate services and asked for a fair price I responded by text that I understood and it would be $1,for material and labor December 16th - She texted that she thinks $is fair, and that the doors were $and since I picked them up, we were even I explained by sending this text at 9:p.m"That hours was different men working, and does not include trips to [redacted] I have $in materials (utility door, moldings, vinyl and drywall)Other than installing the patio doors, I completed everything else we discussedI don't need the doors, but picked up them when they called me assuming I would install as agreedYou're the one that terminated servicesThe agreed price was $2,plus $for materialsThe amount you owe is $1,Once I have received your payment in full, I will bring you the doorsI don't need the doorsThe agreement was payment for services, not doors for services." After threats of police, I simply stated that I had all the emails and text messages and we would settle this in court December 21st - After several nasty text messages from her, with no response from me, she texted me at 12:p.mstating she did not want drama and wanted to know if we could settle on a fair priceI asked that she give me a call to discuss it December 29th - She texted back that she thinks $is fair with other nasty comments and threats I simply responded with this text: "The first set of doors were marked as the right size, but they were 2" wider and an inch taller with full viewThat's not my faultI took them back, [redacted] apologized and said they'd give us the right sizeThen they came back the right size but half viewThat's not my fault, [redacted] made that mistakeI can understand you being upset about the doors, but I didn't like it eitherIt was out of my control, but I still had to take time and effort to return and deal with [redacted] on your behalfThen I had a third trip to [redacted] because they kept calling me telling me the doors needed to be picked upThe agreed price was $2,plus $materialsI did almost all the work that we agreed to except the doors, which was out of my control$is not a fair price for the work I completed and I do not want or need these doors, so thinking you're going to "give" them to me for payment is not going to workIt will cost me $to file a law suit and I will ask that you be responsible for all legal fees when I file." She stated that she had an attorney and would be suing me I simply did not respond to her January 2nd - At 6:p.m., she texted "I discussed this with my [redacted] since it involves him, he said you did good work on outside and $1,is fairWe want this done and over." I responded that I would settle for $1,000, she could mail a check to me and I would return the doors to her once her check clearedShe texted that she did not want the doors, do not bring them to her January 10th - She again texted about suing and getting police involved and stated that "things are getting serious" I simply responded that I had talked to [redacted] and she should do what she thinks she needs to do I was diagnosed with the flu on January 8th after being sick all weekend I wasn't able to return the doors until January 18th (which I had my brother do as I was still sick with the flu that had gone into bronchitis) Ms [redacted] mailed a $1,check to me for services, which is the price we settled on to resolve this The check was dated for January 2, 2018, but the envelope is postmarked January 12, I have copies of the check and the original envelope I have all the text messages and emails that have been exchanged I understand it took longer than expected, but as you can see from my timeline, that is primarily due to [redacted] getting the doors in, and the doors not being correct, none of which was my fault I'm not sure what her intent here is, but I have been with the Revdex.com for several years with no complaints I have several customers that I know would recommend me and would confirm my professionalism, timely and satisfactory work Of everything listed on the email below, the only things not completed were replacing of the French doors, repairing the hole by the French door and I did not texture the ceiling in the weight room email sent Oct 7th @ 12:p.m.:This is what we have written downBefore we do the work, I'll draw up a contract detailing everything.Replace upstairs and downstairs french doors Repair hole in floor by french doorRepair hole in garage ceiling and install door molding Install door molding in dog roomRepair wall in weight room above doorRepair wall on inside and outside of front of house Install 32" door with jam for closet Repair vinyl siding Repair facial front of house Repair front door and drywall Repair drywall around window sealRepair ceiling in weight roomClean out gutters Repair screens as needed (total) All drywall work will be finished and ready for customer to paint That's what I have in my notesIt'll be $2,for labor and $1,materials [redacted] has the French doors for $each plus tax and $for the 32" closet doorIf you decide you'd like me to do the work, I can go to [redacted] this weekend and pick out the doors and then you'll need to go there to pay for themIt usually takes about a week to get the French doors inWhen they're in, I'll picked them upIf you have any questions or need additional information, please feel free to contact me by email at this email address, by phone at [redacted] , or by mail I can provide copies of anything you need, and can provide names and phone numbers of several customers who I'm sure would be more than happy to speak on my behalf.Thank you[redacted] Rick's Lawn & Handyman, LLC
