This review serves as opinion and personal experience only, considerations, theories, and thoughts of mine, not as a claim to know the mindset of the company or assert their intentions, simply my perceptions and experiences. Title4Solutions is a company providing services around starting, filing, maintaining, and assisting with the paperwork around loan maintenance and forgiveness amongst other services that I have no experience with. This review directly relates to loan forgiveness/maintenance — I was referred to them by a friend who had (and is having) a good experience with them in seeking Public Loan forgiveness through an income-based repayment plan, which they set up and handled for her from my understanding. With my loans in repayment and wanting to take advantage of working at a public institution, I thought that utilizing their services would be ideal — especially as a first-generation graduate who struggled with all the financial aid options at the beginning of college, I thought this would be the safest way for me to get set up to let the professionals handle it. Upon calling and getting my first meeting scheduled, their customer service was professional and what seemed to be clear, and so I initial decided to move forward because the process seemed too complicated, risky to handle on my own, and the agent had placed more “doom” factor on trying to do it by myself, that Title4Solutions was the best option. I don’t want to negate that this likely will work for someone who doesn’t want to deal with the process - this review star is impacted by the doom factor, misinformation, run-around, and nonsense that I received at the beginning of my experience, that it wasn’t possible to do it on my own, that it was too risky to try to interact with the government on my own and get all this done properly; the forms and legality too long and difficult, ultimately impossible for someone to do alone. The fact is that you can go to studentaid.gov and find the forms, call them and get this set up within a day provided your HR contact is quick on signing part 4 of the PSLF form. Paying for a service at such a high cost is a personal choice — if it had been approached clearly and more honestly than what it was, I would have leaned even with that high cost to letting them process it for me, so I didn’t necessarily have to think about it each year. The service in theory does work though they’ve yet to have someone finish the PSLF since they’ve only been open for seven years. My biggest issue here is the misinformation, divergence, and lack of clarity given to you prior to signing up — even the forms they have you sign, information given to you on the phone is not clear on what the work they intend to perform will be. I appreciate their status as a veteran-owned small business and understand that they put a lot of time and effort into attempting to make this process as easy as can be while being paid appropriately for their service. However, I don’t think it excuses the need for open clarity, or not changing to ensure that their reviews on the BBB or anywhere else no longer apply. The complaints there are valid to a degree because their service could certainly have value if they were honest that you can do this yourself — but by utilizing our services, our resources, our teams who specialize in this, we can save you time, energy, and give you that back for the next ten years while we work together to get you public service loan forgiveness. Ultimately this experience has me revoking the recommendations I gave to people, and I hope they change how they approach their discussions. There are also portions of the experience that feel exceptionally risky, invasive, and potentially risky for identification loss and being scammed not necessarily by them but anyone should that information come on — I’m not accusing them of running a scam or mishandling personal information; but there has to be a better way than requesting your FSA (studentaid.gov login and password) and other highly personal information like SSN, etc. that if lost could ruin your life. Changing their methods of handling information like that would be ideal, because I was extremely uncomfortable providing it to them to “verify” my student loan status, perhaps that could be avoiding by step-by-step instructions to screen-shot the appropriate material or through the limited power of attorney they require and allowing them to call the student loan servicer to request ONLY the amount of your loans and if they’ve ever been paid on. Otherwise, the risks seem far too high for potential loss if something were to go wrong, if a system breach occurs, etc., though I cannot and do not speak to their security. And, as a note, their customer service after a cancellation drops off the map horribly, and I was given the run around when trying to confirm I wouldn’t be charged or when I was trying to contact customer care. If you work in the same office, AND it’s an option on your phone line (#3) to speak to someone in customer care, don’t lie and say you don’t have a way to contact them besides e-mail. That was one of the most infuriating things. I had intended to cancel and do my research a bit more before I made a final decision to re-sign up or do it myself, but that made the decision for me entirely. Respecting your client, potential or actual, through all steps of the process, even if they don’t sign up is vital in my opinion as a small business. Grumpy, “salty”, rude replies to complaints don’t reflect professionalism or ease of conflict resolution, and while I had originally dismissed that in their responses to bad reviews, it is true that it becomes almost combative. I understand that you want to defend yourself and ensure that you are not mistaken, and that your integrity is not in question, but it is always viable to respond politely and considerately and more likely to end the conflict in pleasant resolution, and to achieve that and even and understanding you can request a final call to understand why they did not utilize the service. I offered that in my last email to the owner to have this discussion via phone, but was not taken up on it, hence this review. Again, I think the service that they could offer could be valuable, but the methodology and presentation of it needs to change in order to reflect the truth instead of the methods presently that make it seem like it’s impossible to reach on your own without the company. If you decide to use them, ask all the questions that you need to and ensure that it is indeed the best option to go directly through them, perhaps for less hassle, paperwork on your own, thoughts over the next ten years.

Title IV Solutions has misrepresented themselves to myself as a customer. I requested a full refund and was denied my request.
On 3/10/20, I signed up for Student Loan Forgiveness with Title IV Solutions and set up a monthly payment plan after being contacted by the company by phone. I was told by Jamie G., representative with Title IV Solutions that the payment plan would be applied towards the Public Service Loan Forgiveness Program. I continued receiving mail from the U.S. Department of Education, requesting repayment on my student loans, so I reached out to them directly. I was informed by the U.S. Department of Education that I was scammed by Title IV Solutions. According to the U.S. Department of Education, there is no need for a third-party service to apply for Public Service Student Loan Forgiveness, because the documentation needed for this program is available on their website, and they process this application directly - not through a third party or contractor. Further, they notified me that none of the payments I made to Title IV Solutions would be applied towards my Public Student Loan Forgiveness Program application.
On 8/6/2020, I sent an email to Title IV Solutions, requesting a full refund in the amount of $781.98 ($231.66 on 3/11/20, $231.66 on 4/2/20, $231.66 on 5/4/20, $29 on 6/2/20, $29 on 7/2/20 and $29 on 8/3/20). I was only refunded $87 (for the months of June-August). I am seeking to be refunded the balance of $694.98. Please see attachment on page 4 in pink, where the U.S. Department of Education supports what was communicated to me, that the service offered by Title IV Solutions is indeed a scam.

Desired Outcome

Please refund my remaining refund balance of $694.98.

Title 4 Solutions Response • Sep 08, 2020

We apologize that this client has been misinformed about our company. We always seek to have happy clients and do our contracted work perfectly.
After reviewing all the documents and recorded phone calls associated with this clients account we stand by our decision.
The first complaint states that we misrepresented our company to the client. This is not true at all. Our counselor spent nearly an hour reviewing this clients loans to analyze her savings and what programs would work best for her situation, for free. We then very clearly stated that Title 4 Solutions is a private company that charges a fee for our service. We never claim to be anything different. We have never claimed that a clients payments to us are applied to a borrowers personal student loans. This account is no exception. We make it very clear that the sign up fee is to our company for the services agreed upon. As soon as a client signs their agreement we start working on their behalf and that costs our company money.
This client signed up and was unresponsive for months. We called, texted and emailed numerous times but received no cooperation and no indication that the client wanted to cancel services. Our agreement clearly states that a clients lack of communication with us does not constitute a refund. We refunded the client for 3 months of our membership fee which begins after the initial service fee is paid and our beginning work is completed. We are not unreasonable and if at any time we discover that we can't accomplish the work that we promised we always refund our clients. That is not the case here. She benefits from the program we informed her of.
In regards to the DOE letter stating we are a scam. At no point does the DOE label our company in particular a scam. They simply state that there are companies that are out there doing things in a less than desirable way and in a few cases actually "scamming" borrowers. Most of these companies are not established legal entities at all. Title 4 Solutions is a legally registered company in the state of Florida. Calling us a scam is slander and harmful to a small veteran family owned company.
The DOE does not process these documents themselves and only 1 contracted servicer honors Public Service Loan Forgiveness. They deny these documents at an alarming rate simply based on the borrower filling them out incorrectly. That's why companies like ours exist, much like HR Block would fill out your tax return documents for accuracy.
In closing, we will honor our original contract with the client and even give her a year of service for free.
