I got a 1-year membership at Title in Ann Arbor, MI. After a year I was expecting my membership to end that I would not be charged automatically on my credit card. After 1 year passed I even received a promotional email saying that my membership is over and if I want to renew it again. I did not check my credit card payment for 2 months then I realized that I was still being charged since my membership contract ended. I called to ask for a refund and the customer services in their corporate office did not take me seriously. Today ( 25/01/17 ), I cancelled following their procedure (you have to fill out a form and email). They said I will still be charged on 01/02/17 because I had to give them a 30 days notice. I cannot understand how come all the rules they put there are against the customer and they can just be always right. I was their customer for a year but they do not care anything other than their famous protocol. They do have a good gym service but a business strategy that can steal some extra bucks from you. Collection process. We billed that charge to the club. Basically, the business paid for the fee. I also offered to cancel her membership since she explained she would not be able to utilize it at this time. I canceled her membership effective immediately and without penalty. I also informed [redacted] that she could reinstate her membership at any time, again without any additional fees. Lori G[redacted]

Review: I paid for a 6 month membership up front in full; after my 6 months ended I did not return to the gym but title gym were charging my credit card. I reported this to my credit card, I got a refund, but then title gym sent me a bill via a collection agency....Title gym is still charging me monthly and refuse to stop billing me until I pay them. Title gym refuses to cancel my membership and said they will continue to charge me until I pay them... I feel title gym are completely unethical and underhanded and they are refusing to resolve this.Desired Settlement: Cancel my membership after the 6 months that I agreed to. And agree that I owe nothing to Title Gym.

This seems to be an ongoing issue. We are fighting this right now.

Review: On July [redacted], 2014, I placed a call to Title Boxing Club to inform them I wanted to cancel my month-to-month membership. I sustained a serious neck injury, which resulted in 3 herniated discs in my cervical spine. Therefore I was no longer able to work out. The person I spoke to, told me since I was already charged for that month (July), there was nothing they could do, however I would no longer be charged after July. I was not made aware of the fact that I needed to come in and fill out a form, and if I was I would have asked for those forms to be faxed to me, as in that moment I was unable to drive due to my injury.

Fast forward to the present. I have continued to be charged, on a monthly basis. I received a new debit card from [redacted] due to preventative measures taken because of a major retailer data breach. So now, you can no longer take my payments, and have sent me to collections. I called Title Club to discuss this with whomever, and quite honestly, the service was less than accommodating. Whomever the manager was, was arguing with me over this, and then told me someone else will contact me via phone, which has yet to happen, and that was 2 weeks ago.

I received another collections note today. They have already over charged me for MONTHS. No one has gotten back to me, and no one seems to want to resolve this issue. Or fax me any forms. It's quite frustrating.Desired Settlement: I want all charges they debited from my account from September-Present refunded as well as the collections to be resolved.

Review: I joined Title Boxing Club (Title), [redacted], VA location, in late 2013 under a one year contract. I moved in April 2014, due to job relocation. Also, I sustained an ankle injury in July and recently had surgery. I notified Title in July, August, September and October of my injury and surgery and wished to cancel my membership. After failed attempts, Title would not cancel my membership or put my contract on hold (against what it states in their contract). Additionally, they verbally told me they (the General Manager) would cancel my membership in April, and failed to do so or notify me they couldn't. I have kept being charged monthly. I have not been in a Title gym since April 2014. Numerous failed attempts to cancel my membership has led me to file this complaint. I have dealt with unprofessionalism and deceitful employees. I am seeking your help to help resolve this issue. They are taking advantage/stealing from me, due to the recent gym opening next to them and losing customers. Thank you. Please contact me for more information.Desired Settlement: I want my membership canceled and since management would not comply with that simple request, I would like a refund of membership monthly cost for July, August, September and any future payments. I notified Title in July of this and they failed to act on my request and breached fiduciary duty and did not comply with what is stated in their contract. Please contact me and help. Thank you.

November 18, 2014Dear [redacted],My apologies for the lateness of this response. I have been on vacation and out of communication since November 1.Both my staff and I have communicated with the member and have all made the same statements. The main points made to the member, in all cases, are consistent with the terms of the contract provided to the member at the time of membership. Those are listed below:1. The member must provide notice of cancellation in writing or in person.2. Membership may be cancelled based on a move of the member to a location which does not have a TITLEBoxing Club within five miles of the new residence. He had previously stated that he was within five miles of the [redacted], Virginia club.3. Membership may be cancelled if the member sustains an injury which makes the member incapable ofparticipating.4. Proof of any of these circumstances may be required by the club to substantiate the claim.After repeated telephone conversations with the member, we consistently communicated the need for him to provide written notice and to show proof of his injury or provide a doctor's letter explaining the injury. The member provided neither a written notice or nor proof of injury.In this instance, the member in question did not provide notice in writing or in person until I received an e-mail on October 14, 2014. Although proof was not provided in the email, I personally cancelled this member's membership the same day. No charges have been made to this member's account since the receipt of the cmail.TITLE Boxing Club, [redacted] has cancelled several memberships without issue for members who have provided written notice. In most instances, negotiated settlements have occurred with the member at the time notice was provided. In this case, the non-responsiveness of the member to the requirements of the contract has been the only reason for the delay in the membership cancellation.Inasmuch as the written notice was not received until October 14, 2014, charges made prior to that date are not refundable. It remains my belief, until proof is provided otherwise, that the member has sustained no injury or in any other way met the requirements of cancellation and until that proof is provided, no refund for any contested charges will be forthcoming.Sincerely,M.L.
