Titletown Flooring LLC Reviews (11)

Revdex.com: I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted] , and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below First of all, I have never received an itemized billing or any type of billing from Titletown Flooring I only have an estimate from Puroclean Restoration which shows "wood flooring $5657.58" which I then received a bill from Puroclean in the amount of $ I have asked for an itemized billing not only to see what I have been charged but for warranty purposes I have nothing to show that I even purchased this floor As for the sample in the store [redacted] told me they were getting a new sample with no holes as this manufacturer epoxies all holes and to ignore the hole in the sample board He assured me all holes are epoxied smooth as did the owner on site before purchase and when the floor was being installed When [redacted] and KJ came to my home after I first complained they agreed that some of the boards should not have been installed As for fixing the floor the manufacturer called me and said they were sending someone to epoxy and seal the floor with two coats of sealant I explained that there were cracked boards in the entry way of the kitchen and they should be removed They stated this could be done at the same time However, the person came with no equipment as he was not told to remove any boards He looked over the floor and I showed him all the issues with large blemishes, holes and cracked boards He told me not to have the bad boards removed and new ones glued down as the floor needs to move I also had two other floor professionals tell me the same He then stated he would epoxy a large hole and seal one coat with sealant in the entrance to see if I would like it He stated there was no sense doing the whole floor if I didn't like it This was his idea not mine I never refused to have boards replaced as I was the one who asked for this to be done It states clearly in the warranty of the flooring not to install blemished boards, to have them set aside and sent back for warranty As for having 1/inch underlayment put down this is also not true It was 3/inch plywood which we had to argue with [redacted] before they came as he insisted at first we told him 1/inch which was a lie He was upset because he had already purchased the 1/inch and had to go back and buy the correct plywood They don't listen As for the installer taking leftover flooring from our bedroom floor, he stated he used leftover wood for his ice shack I found the large garbage can full of wood and was removing it to my wheelbarrow when he came out of the house and told me he cut the wood specifically for his ice shack which he does at all jobs He then took the wood out of my hands and put it back in the garbage can We purchased this flooring and he did not ask permission to take this floor prior to cutting it up Before taking wood that does not belong to you the proper thing to do is get permission The owner agreed with me when I spoke to him about this [redacted] insisted I must have been mistaken and did not believe me I scheduled a meeting with Titletown the end of January to try to come to some sort of agreement and all they did was scream at me so I left I told them I would have to get a lawyer and KJ then stated "good we were hoping you were going to do that" Everything they told me before I purchased the flooring they denied I've never been treated so poorly by a business before I have since written a letter to Puroclean stating all I want is the floor fixed the proper way by pulling out boards from the side of the floor to remove the bad boards and replaced I have almost full boxes of wood that should cover the issues I also stated if they did not want to fix the floor I would have someone else do the work and deduct the cost from the total due I also asked for an itemized billing to see what I was charged I have never received any response When you spend this kind of money you should at least get something showing what was chargedWhen I stopped at Titletown to set up an appt to talk to the owner I asked the office girl for a copy of the itemized billing which she could not find What business charges you over $6,and refuses to give you an itemized bill any any kind of receipt? We have nothing to show that this work was ever done What are we supposed to do if we have warranty issues in the future I was told the warranty on the wood only covers the finish so if we cover the finish what warranty do we have? I am only following the manufacturers instructions All they want is their money which I have no problem doing when the floor is corrected This was the agreement between Puroclean and myself back in November, however, Titletown refuses to back their product and their work I don't think I'm asking that much Regards, [redacted]

I am disappointed with how this remodeling project transpiredTo my knowledge, my flooring was installed although the sub floor was not adequately laidI did personally lay the sub floor to save money, however, I am not a flooring expert or professional by any meansTitletown Flooring's flooring professionals did not show any concern for the quality of the sub floor before the fact and the project was started without hesitationMonths after, multiple attempts were made to contact Titletown Flooring LLC concerning my dissatisfaction with the floorsThe floors had screws sticking up through the LVT flooring and was not snapped together in placesPhone calls to the owner personally, the office, and personal visits were answered to no availWithin the past couple months, we personally stopped at Titletown Flooring talking to Mark in the back corner officeWe expressed our concerns and he said he would leave a message for KJ, the owner, to get back to us right awayMore phone calls were made and finally an appointment was set up to meet at my house and inspect the floorsWe moved all furniture out of the first level so the floors could be fixed and the Titletown employees did not show upWe called, and finally a response was given that night that the crew was behind at another project and couldn't have made itWe were then given one hours notice on Saturday morning, when a man was sent, Doug, to our homeHe said he lived right now the road and could easily stop, but that he had been gone for a while and is now back to "clean up quality control messes." In summary, he concluded that the quality of the floors was "unacceptable" and that he would be making this situation his "top priority." He also said that the screws should not be sticking up and the boards should not be wavy or movingHe chalked this all up to a sub floor issue and concluded that Titletown's flooring professionals should have advised against laying the product on a sub floor that was not properly or adequately nailed downHe then pulled two planks up from our floor and never reinstalled themWe had very dusty sub floor that was never swept, exposed in our living roomFinally, he said that he suspected the installer that laid our floors is an employee that you are trying to make a case against for sub par work and that you have had problems with in the pastWe made multiple phone call attempts between this visit and for the next few weeksEventually KJ personally met us at our home and also confirmed that the floor should have never been installed by his professionalsKJ also confirmed the unacceptable quality of the floors and the screws coming through the planksKJ then informed me that this project would be on the calendar for that weekKJ called and offered installation if I PAID his employees labor wages of a total of $an hourI was not going to pay labor wages that I already paid a year ago for a level of quality that I didn't receiveI was then offered four boxes of planks to have the project done myself which I proposedCurrently, I have those materials at my houseI consulted with three people on this job and concluded I am not professionally inclined to do this with the quality I deserve having had paid full price a year ago for materials and labor and a quality that I anticipatedAn installer was sent to our home finally about a week agoHe worked for 2-hours on Thursday leaving us with still undone floorsHe showed up again Friday and worked until 2:20, complaining the entirety of the timeHe said things like, "I wasn't even supposed to be working today." "It rare that I even work a hour week." When we mentioned the poor quality of his work he said things like "You can put a rug over this spot" or "You are too picky." A helper showed up to assist the main installer and left after an hour because he mentioned he was too hung over to workAll in all, we ripped all of the installers work out and reinstalled it ourselvesWe love the floor and now that we did it up to our standards are satisfied with itEven an employee of Titletown Flooring told us that they would never hire their installation guys to work in their own homePlease, do not let this happen to youWe were not offered any discount, money back, or even formal apology for the year long battle we had just to end up doing the floors ourselvesIf you are looking for great floors, I highly recommend LVT floors, just not Titletown Flooring LLC

To date I have not heard from Titletown Flooring.  I didn't expect them to respond as I feel they had no intention of paying for their poor installation as they...

had promised. I did everything they asked including sending them pictures of our floor when the contractor finished.  It cost me $12 to send certified mailings to them.  They also contacted my contractor to get information from them stating that it would be turned into they insurance company.  I'm sure they pocketed the money.  Would not recommend this company as I feel they are very dishonest.

Earlier this year, our sump pump failed and ruined our basement carpeting. Titletown Flooring was subcontracted to replace it. The installers were obviously struggling with carpet installation and returned to repair seams, bulges, and pattern mismatches several times. The owner eventually agreed to oversee the final repairs but never checked with us to ensure that we were satisfied. We are now left with a finished basement with mismatched patterns, puckers and loose edges. A small discount was taken off the bill but the poor quality installation remains.

Before this work was to be done, I wanted
to talk with the contractor which I did, according to what the contractor told
me he was going to replace the boards the same way that we told the customer we
were going to do it.  We sent the customer, [redacted] a
letter on 11/26/14 telling her we wanted an explanation of why he would be able
to do the things that you would not let me do.
We received an email on 12/4/14.  I have attached both
letters.  The letter we sent to her on 11/26/14 and the customers email to
us.  The last time we heard from her, she sent us pictures along with the bill that we were to pay.
The reason no payment was made, due to we asked why he could do it that
way but we could not.  We feel why, should we pay someone else to do the
same thing that we wanted to do in the beginning that they would not let us do.
Thank You,

Revdex.com:
I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint.  For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.
First of all, the reason Mr. [redacted] gives for not paying us is that they were not allowed to do the repairs themselves.  When I scheduled a meeting with Mr. Schreiber to try to come to some agreement in this matter he stood over me screaming that he was not going to replace the flooring even though they did a horrible job with installation and had guaranteed that we would never see a hole or blemish in the floor which there were numerous.  Later on he stated that I should find another contractor and he would pay for the contractor of our choice to repair the floor after his approval which he gave in his email dated 12/4/2014 which I have forwarded to you.   He had told me that it would be better to find someone else to fix our floor.
When we originally had the floor installed we withheld payment until the floor was corrected.  We then received a threatening letter stating that they were going to seek legal action if we did not pay.  Fearing our credit would be tarnished we went ahead and paid the bill.
Mr. [redacted] also told my contractor that he was turning this claim into his insurance company for payment which I assume he has kept the money for himself.
This job was more involved than just replacing a few boards.  The underlayment installed by Titletown was not screwed down but simply stapled and the plywood was not even placed over the floor joices so the floor squeaked everywhere you walked which drove us crazy.  Their solution to fixing the squeaks in the floor was screwing numerous screws all over where the floor squeaked which all had to be removed when repaired.  They obviously don't have a clue on how to install an underlayment.
Also their employee took a large garbage can of flooring that we had purchased for our bedroom which he stated to me that he had cut up specifically to burn in his ice shack for fishing without our approval.  They also dumped all their garbage out of their van and left it on our garage floor which after I spoke to Mr. [redacted] about this he stated he would send someone to clean it up which never happened.
I feel that this company is very dishonest and tells you whatever you want to hear to make a sale.  They promised to reimburse us for their mistakes.  It has cost us more than what we are asking due to errors found after we started the project but we are only asking for what we had agreed upon before the project was started.
I did what I was asked to do. I sent him pictures of the finished floor and a note stating we we satisified with the floor. He has chosen to ignore this and we have not received any response from Titletown since we sent the requested information.
Please attach this email to response on complaint #[redacted].  Thank you.

Revdex.com:
I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint.  For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.

First of all, I have never received an itemized billing or any type of billing from Titletown Flooring.  I only have an estimate from Puroclean Restoration which shows "wood flooring $5657.58" which I then received a bill from Puroclean in the amount of $6591.60.  I have asked for an itemized billing not only to see what I have been charged but for warranty purposes I have nothing to show that I even purchased this floor.  As for the sample in the store [redacted] told me they were getting a new sample with no holes as this manufacturer epoxies all holes and to ignore the hole in the sample board.  He assured me all holes are epoxied smooth as did the owner on site before purchase and when the floor was being installed.  When [redacted] and KJ came to my home after I first complained they agreed that some of the boards should not have been installed.  As for fixing the floor the manufacturer called me and said they were sending someone to epoxy and seal the floor with two coats of sealant.  I explained that there were cracked boards in the entry way of the kitchen and they should be removed.  They stated this could be done at the same time.  However, the person came with no equipment as he was not told to remove any boards.  He looked over the floor and I showed him all the issues with large blemishes, holes and cracked boards.  He told me not to have the bad boards removed and new ones glued down as the floor needs to move.  I also had two other floor professionals tell me the same.  He then stated he would epoxy a large hole and seal one coat with sealant in the entrance to see if I would like it.  He stated there was no sense doing the whole floor if I didn't like it.  This was his idea not mine.  I never refused to have boards replaced as I was the one who asked for this to be done.  It states clearly in the warranty of the flooring not to install blemished boards, to have them set aside and sent back for warranty.
As for having 1/2 inch underlayment put down this is also not true.  It was 3/8 inch plywood which we had to argue with [redacted] before they came as he insisted at first we told him 1/2 inch which was a lie.  He was upset because he had already purchased the 1/2 inch and had to go back and buy the correct plywood.  They don't listen.
As for the installer taking leftover flooring from our bedroom floor, he stated he used leftover wood for his ice shack.  I found the large garbage can full of wood and was removing it to my wheelbarrow when he came out of the house and told me he cut the wood specifically for his ice shack which he does at all jobs.  He then took the wood out of my hands and put it back in the garbage can.   We purchased this flooring and he did not ask permission to take this floor prior to cutting it up.  Before taking wood that does not belong to you the proper thing to do is get permission.  The owner agreed with me when I spoke to him about this.  [redacted] insisted I must have been mistaken and did not believe me.
I scheduled a meeting with Titletown the end of January to try to come to some sort of agreement and all they did was scream at me so I left.  I told them I would have to get a lawyer and KJ then stated "good we were hoping you were going to do that".  Everything they told me before I purchased the flooring they denied.  I've never been treated so poorly by a business before.
I have since written a letter to Puroclean stating all I want is the floor fixed the proper way by pulling out boards from the side of the floor to remove the bad boards and replaced.  I have almost 2 full boxes of wood that should cover the issues.  I also stated if they did not want to fix the floor I would have someone else do the work and deduct the cost from the total due.  I also asked for an itemized billing to see what I was charged.  I have never received any response.  When you spend this kind of money you should at least get something showing what was charged. When I stopped at Titletown to set up an appt to talk to the owner I asked the office girl for a copy of the itemized billing which she could not find.  What business charges you over $6,000.00 and refuses to give you an itemized bill any any kind of receipt?    We have nothing to show that this work was ever done.  What are we supposed to do if we have warranty issues in the future.   I was told the warranty on the wood only covers the finish so if we cover the finish what warranty do we have?  I am only following the manufacturers instructions.  All they want is their money which I have no problem doing when the floor is corrected.   This was the agreement between Puroclean and myself back in November, however, Titletown refuses to back their product and their work.  I don't think I'm asking that much.

[redacted] came in to our store and worked with [redacted] on Vintage Hickory Flooring. Vintage Hickory Flooring is very rustic, which matches her log home. I personally (owner [redacted]) went to the job and helped installed the flooring.
[redacted] complaints were not...

talked about until after the job was finished. We were at her house for a couple of days installing the floor. If she had a problem she should have mentioned it right away.
There are a few small holes in the floor which is natural in Vintage Hickory. This is what gives it, its character. We offered to fill the holes with epoxy and even sent a guy to do a test sample and that wasn't good enough. She wants a new floor
because she doesn't like what she picked out. The manufacturer and her insurance adjuster were both at the house said the floor looked beautiful. I have exhausted all my efforts to please her, but I don't think that is possible.
Sorry for the inconvenience.

Our contractor hired TitleTown to install all the new flooring in my home. I had hardwood, Tile, carpeting and backsplash installed. I would never recommend this company. They did shoddy work. Installed my hardwood while it was still wet. So we had big gaps all over the floor. They came and puttied the cracks which then cracked more once floor dried. They cut pieces too short on tile and hardwood. Once we had trim installed there were huge gaps in kitchen and bath. Toilet was not level because flooring wasn't. When the installed back-splash in kitchen we were watching and it was very crooked. We told them right away and their response was you wont even notice it once we grout it!!! It was very noticeable so someone had to come in and tear it and drywall out and start over! Very disgusted. They did come fix what needed fixing but still not the best work. We were compensated $200.00 off our huge bill for the trouble. We are waiting to see if hardwood gives us anymore problems. Do not use this company. You will have nothing but problems.
