T.J. Nagy Roofing Reviews (6)

TJ Nagy Roofing did an excellent job on my roof They were extremely courteous, careful and very neat My roof looks beautiful! It has been through three very harsh winters and I have not had any problems I would highly recommend this company!

I have had dealings with T J Nagy roofing for the last several years. He has helped in problems that I had in the past few years. He is very professional, very thorough. My initial dealing with him was very favorable. He responded to my calls within one business day. He and his crew worked well. When they put on a new roof this past October, his quote was very thorough; he explained everything. He and his crew were excellent. They worked tirelessly and worked well together. They cleaned up everyday before they left. T J Nagy himself explained everything everyday as to what was happening. I would highly recommend him. He checked a few times after the job to see if I was satisfied. Whenever I would call for anything he responded quickly and answered all of my questions. He was very easy and professional to talk to and helped me immensely.

On Aug 18 2014, this co replaced the shingles on our roof and also did the flat roof. The following 6 issues are a result of this job.
1. Smell of wet wood in family room. We found water stains on ceiling, beam and water dripping down wood paneling. Mr. N[redacted] was called and he came to look at the leak. He thinks water may be coming from the skylight. Mr. N[redacted] caulked around the base of it. He also said the roof under the skylight was wet and that the galvanized nails were already starting to corrode. This was only 2 months after job completion.
2. Wet wood smell on the other side of family room. I was advised not to go on the flat roof for a few months. When I went to clean the porch gutter I discovered that the rake trim had a large hole in it. This was not there before they started. Again Mr. N[redacted] was called by my wife and he replied he knew exactly what she was referring to. No one informed us about the damage done. Mr. Nagy said this piece of trim was not necessary and only put it back because it was there before. She asked about a possible water leak? He said that no water would be coming through the roof into the house. Mr. N[redacted] did not come to look at this hole.
3. At the same time I discovered numerous scuff marks and gauges in the new flat roof. We sent a picture message of it to Mr. N[redacted] who text back
"Yes!!!Nothing wrong with it If it leaks then call me"
The ceiling in that room is wood clad. A water leak would take time to come through the wood and by then there would be probable mold and water stains. The damage to the ceiling would be beyond repair.
4. A piece of shingle was hanging off the edge of the roof. We called several times to have it cut. This was done only when Mr. N[redacted] came to look at the first leak several months later.
5. We also had an oil spill on our front bluestone stairs done by his men. I initially cleaned them myself and Mr. N[redacted] was informed. He came next day and tried to get the oil stains off.
6. There was a cracked shingle on roof at junction of two roofs. This was found by another contractor we called to look over the roof. We did not call Mr. N[redacted] since we felt a call would be useless and again that no action would be taken.
We had two contractors look at the roof. We had one do a temporary repair on this cracked shingle. He advised it should be replaced and that this may be the cause of the first leak and not the skylight. Also, he removed the broken rake trim and installed water shield over existing flashing and installed new piece of rake trim all at an additional cost to us.
These 2 repairs had to be done since we were having heavy rain and there water leaks. Now the family room ceiling needs water stains fixed and cathedral ceiling painted. We are waiting to make sure there are no new leaks.
We plan to sell our home. The flat roof still has these scuff marks and we are not sure about more leaks.
What is a home inspector going to write in his report? This is very stressful since we don't know if both roofs are ok and leak free.
