John was hired to cut grass and weed on a weekly basis Additional work included spring and/or fall cleanup, pruning of numerous bushes, the removal of several shrubs and the subsequent laying of sod in their place where needed, and mulch installationOur experience with John has been one of waiting for estimates, receiving incomplete and inaccurate estimates, inept note-taking thus resulting in additional walk-throughs of our property, receiving numerous inaccurate invoices, unanswered inquiries (either by phone or email), poor scheduling practices by John, and delay after delay after delay…and excuse after excuse, always saying “this is an unusual year” Every year was an unusual year! But worse than all of that was the haphazard application of an herbicide in the spring of that resulted in the death of many, many perennials that originally cost us $1,978.65, for which John acknowledged his company’s responsibility, yet failed to replaceWhile it is easy to just make those claims, and just as easy for John to refute them, we have gone into greater detail in our review on [redacted] *** Everything we claim can be backed up with documentation And while we have firsthand experience with John’s fabrications in response to our claims, he has never once provided documentation to substantiate his position, even though he told the Revdex.com he was sending same to us via certified mail (never received) and we have directly requested it as well (never received) Of course, he can’t provide something that doesn’t exist He has, though, threatened us with his attorney, to which we have asked he have his attorney contact us so we may provide him/her with our documentation and settle this matter John would prefer to lie and go about his business of deceiving his clients - at least until they wise up - at a great cost to some, ourselves includedWhy do we say “deceive”? Because all the way up to the point when John terminated services, he portrayed himself as one who was going to make good on making us whole He even asked if he could substitute hostas if he couldn’t find the exact ones that were killed However, we now believe John was only stringing us along so he could make more money on other services - spring cleanup, fall cleanup, etc Through John’s continual delays, we found ourselves in the fall of still working on getting mulch installed that was originally requested two years earlier, and at the same time of year when one year earlier he couldn’t procure the needed plants due to it being late in the season and the plants had been picked over Basically, when push came to shove, John couldn’t fulfill his obligation of replacing the plants for which he was responsible So, in our opinion, he created a situation that he felt would cause us distress and, hopefully, cause us to profusely complain (I fell for it; I dropped the f-bomb when leaving two phone messages; of course, John failed to answer his phone, as usual), thus giving him the excuse he felt he needed to terminate services Unfortunately, and regretfully, my frustration at dealing with such an unscrupulous and unprofessional individual got the better of me (See [redacted] review for greater detail.) I am reminded of a response John gave to a negative [redacted] review In essence he stated his company couldn’t rectify a situation if the customer doesn’t inform him of the problem In another response to a negative review, John objects to the customer attacking his integrity Well, we brought our issues to John’s attention and he certainly didn’t do what was necessary to rectify our situation, let alone do so in a timely manner And then there’s the one where John doesn’t even remember visiting that person’s property Well, we have an email wherein John actually states he couldn’t recall what was being done as he “never finished [his] notes”When I re-read the negative reviews on [redacted] and the response given by John, I no longer looked at them as suspect When we first hired John, there were no negative reviews on [redacted] After we began to notice plants dying, we took another look At first, we gave John the benefit of the doubt; giving him credit for responding to the negative reviews As time went on and we gained more experience, we viewed the negative reviews in a different light and began to look at John’s replies as a bunch of B.SWe have experienced the same issues with John, and we have experienced the same lies in response to them I actually expect John to say he worked with us out of goodwill and the death of our plants was due to our own actions, but what defense does he really have? What should be considered is this - when these negative experiences begin to add up and not once is there an instance when someone had an issue that John corrected, one might begin to question who really is at fault, and who really is being truthful(Since I just mentioned there not being an instance where there is an issue and John correcting it, don’t be surprised if there suddenly is a review with just that situation!) In conclusion, if you don’t mind divots and mud paths in your lawn due to the speedy turning of the mower while cutting the grass and you only want grass cutting, then hire [redacted] If you want anything more than that, we highly recommend going elsewhere for your landscaping needs We have since found a very reliable company via [redacted]
