TJD Construction

Review: Three years ago we contrac[redacted] with [redacted] of TJD Construction to replace our roof. [redacted] told us that the shingles were good for 30 years and he guaranteed his work for 10 years. The work was done although the workers were not respectful of our property. 18 months later we noticed shingles bending up on several areas of the roof caused by improperly secured plywood warping. This year the situation became worse and our roof has begun to leak. We called in another contractor to make the necessary repairs because we did not want TJD to do any more work on our house. We were willing to pay for the repairs to be sure they were done correctly. The new contractor poin[redacted] out many deficiencies in the construction and said he would not touch the roof since he did not want to be blamed for future deterioration which he is sure will occur. I called [redacted] and set up an appointment for Friday, 30 May. He failed to show. I called him on 2 June and he said the previous Friday was "hectic". We then agreed he would come to our house on Thursday, 12 June. Again, he failed to show and did not call. I have called him twice since then and he has not returned my calls. I can only assume he does not plan to come to look at the problem.Desired Settlement: I say Replacement because I am not convinced a repair is possible. If repairs can be made that can be verified by an independent contractor of my choosing, at my expense, I would be satisfied and would accept the risk of TJD's return. However, I do not want a house with a "patchwork" roof, I want the roof to appear as a new roof would. Uniform. Additionally, earlier this year I purchased new copper gutters. I do not want TJD to damage them or touch them. Should they need to be removed to enable the repairs to be made, I want TJD to contract with the company who installed the gutters to remove and reinstall them at TJD's expense. I also want TJD to be responsible for any damage they cause during the repair process. There was quite a bit of damage done after their last work which I did not ask them to repair since all I want [redacted] was for them to leave. I'm only filing this complaint because I can't afford another new roof.
