My husband and I hired this TK Homes Ltd to build a house for us in 2011. Our first dream house brought too much stress in our lives because we hired the wrong builder. It was a rocky road to be dealing with this company during and after our contract together.

We moved in the year ending 2012. They try to force us walked away by delaying closure unnecessarily. They lied about gas being hooked up to try to extend for more weeks. They didn't build to contract and refused to remedy the deficiencies. Finally they went bankrupt to force the problems to NHWP.

The following were the issues and deficiencies that didn't get fully completed until 2015:

1. Front veranda was not build according to plan or code and was sagging within 5 months.
2. Front steps had never passed inspection.
3. According to contract they were required to put up a handrail to make the basement stairs usable, instead they took down the stairs and boarded the door.
4. Fire safety code requirements were not met by the builder.
5. The sump pump discharge pipe had to be installed by NHWP.
6. Garage elevation is below 8 inches above grade.
7. They broke one of the struts in the garage when they built it and left it like that.
8. Most of contract phone and cable jacks missing.
9. Ceiling showing separations between drywall sheets.
10. Doors not opening and closing properly.
11. Missing knobs on basement windows.
12. We need to hire somebody to clean the garage and the basement after they handed over the property.
13. Floors and stairs creaked within a year.
14. Plumbers put a lien on our property because the builders didn't pay them. That cost us extra legal fees.
15. The left other deficiencies required by the inspection department that we ended up having to satisfy.

Anyone should think twice about dealing with TK Homes Ltd in Saskatchewan or Mr. & Mrs. Johb to build a house for you.
