I apologize for seeming to give you the "run around" on Tuesday, as that certainly was not our intent. I show the $** diagnostic was refunded to your credit card this morning. Again, we at TLC are sorry for the miscommunication between departments. Please
understand that is not our typical M.O. We appreciate your understanding and hope that we can be of service in the future. If you have any other questions or concerns, please don't hesitate to contact me directly.

Review: They sent two service reps., first a plumber, which I did not ask for. The plumber said my water heater pop-off valve had been going off due to excessive pressure in my water lines (it hasn't been going off). He said I needed an expansion tank and a new [redacted] on my water line. First, my pressure is 80psi at the PRV and 65 psi inside my house; second he said my faucets, toilets, and other plumbing fixtures were going bad. After I explained that I was the ex-President of my community's[redacted], he said he was mistaken, that my equipment was fine and he hurriedly left. Then later that day the second service rep. came to service my two HVAC units. He was here no more than one and a half hours(25-30mins. in his truck), he proceeded to tell me the upstairs furnace valve was leaking gas. He turned off the gas to that system. He also said my igniters were bad, my bearings were bad in the blower motor, and that parts were no longer available for my unit. He said my furnace needed to be replaced at accost of $6700-6900. He was supposed to service both furnaces and associated A/C units, which I know from experience takes about two hours per system. Trane still makes my XE80 furnace and parts are readily available. My main floor furnace is a [redacted] unit, installed by TLC. I had reasonably good experience with TLC up to now, but this borders on criminality. Both reps. deliberately lied and tried to hard press me into buying expensive equipment, which my sons and I, upon inspection proved we don't need. We turned the gas back on ourselves and unit is working fine. I'm a Systems Engineer, my sons are a Mechanical Engineer, P.E. and a Materiel Scientist, M.E., they verified the guys were "blowing smoke"Desired Settlement: That TLC stop the practice of trying to prey on elderly folk, whom they perceive as rich and naïve. By the way, they never serviced any of my units, which I paid for.

Response:

To whom it may concern.

I am responding to the complaint mentioned above. We had a service agreement with the customer and offered a free plumbing inspection as part of this agreement.

We went out to the home and performed the plumbing inspection and our plumber made some recommendations that obviously the home owner did not agree needed to be done. We did not do any of this work.

We also had a service technician go out the same day to perform the fall Heating inspection and performed a gas leak search. He found that the customer’s gas valve was leaking. In this case it is company policy to turn the gas off to the system. He also discovered that the blower motor shaft had play in it, this does not mean it has to be replaced, we just recommended it to prevent future break downs. Certainly you can buy any of these products online for a substantially cheaper price.(Does not include warranties or installation fees). All of our technicians have to go through intense training on Carbon Monoxide and Combustibles with a nationally recognized company.

The customer had his two sons give him a second opinion, with all due respect, I know he had mentioned that one of them was a Mechanical Engineer and the other was a Material Scientist, but this does not mean they did a leak search and have Carbon Monoxide and HVAC experience.

I did offer to have a senior tech come back and give a second opinion free of charge. I also encouraged the customer to have one or both of his sons to call me concerning this matter. At the end of the day there were no charges to the homeowner, only recommendations.

Thanks,

Review: I purchased a new washer and dryer from [redacted] in November 2015. I went on [redacted] and Contacted TLC for a quote, they stated they had to send tech to see space - I told her dryer wasn't here yet- said didn't matter. Tech came out - said "why am I here." That is what I said too then he tried to charge me $99.00! He called someone and said it could be applied to install of dryer. He then tried to get me to purchase their yearly service plan for $99.00 which would take care of the $99.00 bill. Why was I billed for this to begin with? For someone to look at an open space???Still no quote... He came back Tuesday when dryer was here and looked it over gave cost of $624.00 at this point I was so frustrated and didn't know going rate so I begrugently agreed. He did not understand how the dryer was supposed to be installed and had to reference a YouTube video. He was here almost 3 hours, he liked to stop and talk a lot!!! He also installed a dryer vent to the side of the dryer.! Dryer worked once then stopped, found out a part was defective or was damaged when installed? We had [redacted] replace the dryer but we could not afford another $624.00 for an install! We went online and our neighbors suggested another licensed gas technician, we hired him and he cost $110.00 and was here for an hour!!

I think the TLC tech did not have the experience he needed to install our dryer due to the time frame he was at our home.

There is such a price gap between the two tech,s $62400 & $110.00?

I contacted Mr[redacted] once in December thru [redacted] but he has not to this date contacted me back.Desired Settlement: Billing refund.

Review: I was clearly informed that the $99.00 credit card fee would not be charged if I agreed with the service repair and TLC performs the service.

The plumber described the issue and what needs to be done to correct the issue. I agreed with TLC and requested they perform the service. When the Plubmer completed the service, he Charged me $425.00. I asked him prior to writing the check "will the $99.00 credit card charge not be billed to me". The Plumber said "no, your card won't be charged". I wrote the check out for $425.00 and two days later I checked my credit card account and saw that in fact I was charged the $99.00. I called TLC and I explained what happened and I was told that I should speak with Gina. Gina wasn't in the office due to the Memorial day holiday and would return Tuesday. I called on Tuesday and was told that Gina was in the office and not her desk.

TLC, is giving me the run-around, and I want my credit card refunded the $99.00.Desired Settlement: TLC, is giving me the run-around, and I want my credit card refunded the $99.00. Immediately
