TLG & Son Contracting

Review: We hired this general contractor in September 2012 & signed a contract that stated the work would be completed by December 2012. He has repeatedly walked off the job, but this is the 3rd time & it is unacceptable since we are now forced to pay a mortgage on house we can't occupy AND pay rent on an apartment. Now being June 2013, it is going on 7 months overdue and the contractor has completely abandoned the job in which hasn't showed up in over a month and has made no attempt to return contact after several calls, text messages, and emails. He has installed everything improperly e.g. the windows and doors are all crooked, connected the plumbing in a way that will not pass city inspection, wood floor is warping d/t installation neglect, etc. When asked to fix these issues, he says "its not my problem." Furthermore, he has wantonly wasted a great deal of materials that we have purchased for this job and stolen various tools that did not belong to him. In addition, we have reason to believe with 100% certainty that he is sabotaging this project e.g. a 25' tape measure that we have identified as belonging to him was found in the sewer drainage pipe and we later discovered when water began to back up and flood the basement, failure to solder water pipes causing major leakage from the 3rd floor onto the 2nd floor, etc. We have also come to find out that he has done this to several other people, through the course of this job, as he has bragged about how tends to "milk money from clients" (his exact words) and then refuses to complete/abandons the job when he exceeds the negotiated time and budget; he found it highly amusing, when recounting his stories, of knowing how to extend a project beyond the allotted time frame. At this point in time, he has taken about 85% of his contracted fee but has over 25% of the job uncompleted. We have received quotes from other general contractors to see how much it will cost to finish this project and have documented at which point he has abandoned work.Desired Settlement: We have lost complete faith in this contractor as he has time and again repeatedly violated our trust in him in several ways. Also, after speaking to several different contractors independently and receiving their reports, it has come to our attention that 90% of his work will need to be redone in order to pass city inspections. In re-doing this work, we will incur much more monetary damage as marble tiles will have to be broken, walls will have to broken down, etc.

To whom it may concern: We at TLG and Son are unaware of this client. We have not made any contact with this person ever, nor have we provided any services at this address. This is the first that we are being made aware of this problem. We have not provided any registered permits nor have a contractual agreement with this person. We are also the victims of this deed "identity theft". We would like to receive information on the culprits that have used our good name for their financial gain and take legal action against the wrong doers.

If the client can contact us so that we can assist in the legal under taking against these wrong doers this would be much appreciated.
