TNT CUSTOM CREATIONS

So I hired Terry Melendrez, TNT Custom Creations on November 16, 2020 to build a small roof over part of my deck. The contract stated a time frame of 5-8 weeks. They began the build on March 15, 2021. After 61 weeks of trying to get them to finish this build I finally gave up and had 2 others finish it. Hiring them was one of my biggest mistakes of my life.

4/25/15: rec'd email re: 4/30/wrote contract signed contract rec'd $work will begin week after permit rec'd(owner wanted to go to township first because she wanted to inquire about being tax exempt)) 5/5/: email from *** upset papers not back from me however never made solid

I am rejecting this response because: the business delayed in applying for a permit, he never drew up a plan and presented it to me or the township Terry said to me he would refund the deposit minus the money charged for the drawing plan, which he never did the fact is we talked over the phone whenever I needed to talk to him this was before money was paid, ,but after getting deposit, that is when I had problems calling him, and he would not talk to *** they had to leave him messages No I am not comfortable at all how our deal went I have never seen a drawing plan I feel we could have worked this out if he had been willing to cooperate with me and HomeAdvisor.I wanted to get the project going soon as possible, the matter is that bothered me, first cashing the check for cash, then not being able to talk to him for at least days, (mailbox full) message, this triggered a bad sign for me, period Then he wanted money for a plan he never drew up

Review: I hired TNT for services April of this year to build a bk yard deck, once he received a deposit of $1500.00, I had an issue with TNT, the builder had two phones listed, I called the first number [redacted] disconnected, the other number I received message (mailbox full for 3 days, Prior to him getting money from me I had no problem getting in touch with Terry M[redacted], I became alarmed and felt used, and I wanted my money back, [redacted](ran the ad)they tried to mediate to no avail,during that time he did promise to refund the money on the date of June 11 , I never received the money. I have an e-mail stating that he was sending money on that day. Another problem, his delay in getting a permit from the township, he never did and later said I owed him for drawing up a deck plan, which he never did draw up. Never submitted one to the city of [redacted], NJ, I feel he never did live up to the contract. I need help.Sincerely[redacted]Desired Settlement: I do need my money refunded, I have been through mediation with [redacted] , sent them all of my paperwork e-mails, and they have worked with me, because, they carry TNT AD on line, that is where I found the builder and felt comfortable to use them, which did not work out. I am a recent widow and wanted a space in my back yard to relax and just have a sanctuary.Please Help!
