Mrs *** son brought their Mitsubishi Eclipse into our Meineke Car Car on 2/15/16, and had the fuel pump and the timing belt replacedHer son is in college near our locationAfter the work was completed, he drove the car home, to Maryland.
Several days later, she called and
said that the check engine light was onOur center manager, *** advised her to return the car to ANY Meineke Car Care location, and the repairs could be made for her at no costShe agreed to take the car to her local MeinekeOur warranty is plainly stated on the back of her invoice, and states that warranty repair can only be covered at a Meineke location.
The invoice was signed, and our warranty explained to the customer when the vehicle was picked up from the locationThe customers son picked the car up on 2/16/
Mrs *** took the car to another mechanic shop, not a Meineke location, and had the repairs completed, in the amount of $She has requested a refund through our corporate office, and it was denied since she did not have the repairs completed at a MeinekeMeineke does not refund or compensate for repairs made at any other repair shop, as stated on the back of the invoice.

Here is our response to comment ID ***: Ms *** brought her vehicle into our location for a standard oil change 4/16/The oil change was completed, and she leftIt should be noted that Ms ***’s Chrysler PT Cruiser had over 167,miles at the time of serviceMs *** called days
later, on 4/20/stating that the car was running hotThe center manager asked her to return the car, and that we would check it for issuesShe returned and dropped the car off with usOur technicians were unable to duplicate the overheating issue at that time, but did note that the oil change was completed correctlyThe engine oil level was full, drain plug installed, and oil filter was tightOur oil change packages include a tire rotation and fluid top off, both of which were completedMs *** returned to pick her car up, and demanded that her coolant be filled to the top of the reservoir, rather than between the low and full marks that are placed on the reservoir by the manufacturerWhen the engine came to temp, this caused the “leak” that she’s referencedCoolant levels in the reservoir rise with engine temperature, and will spill over if overfilledMs *** was quoted for thermostat replacement, and she refused the repairsShe was also informed that continued operation while overheating would lead to severe engine damageMs *** drove her car awayMs *** contacted us again on 4/25/to say that her car had ran hot again, insisting that it was caused by the oil change, and demanding a refundShe has contacted our corporate center as wellSince the oil change was completed properly, and did not cause any issue, no refund will be madeThanks, *** *** Operations Manager Meineke Car Care

We are sorry to hear of his frustration. Meineke Gaffney did in fact attempt to handle this problem with the other shop. However, the other Meineke shop did not follow proper internship warranty procedure. There was no diagnosis performed prior to service [Per Meineke Gaffney Request] and repairs...

were done without any authorization. We are now attempting to settle things on a corporate level through Meineke Corporate Relations.  We very sorry for any inconvenience to the customer. Because the other Meineke performed these repairs without our approval/authorization, the vehicle should have been released and payment deferred from the customer. We are sorry they are not handling the situation as they should. Meineke Care Care Centers are individually owned and franchised.
