Unsatisfied and unimpressed with the quality of repair work and customer satisfaction provided by Jaffe Jewelers
In May 2015, I dropped of my diamond channel set wedding band that my husband had made at Jaffe & Gross in after one of the diamonds fell outI paid for the repairs and in October 2015, another diamond fell out and they said they would repair for free so I drop my wedding band at the storePlease note I live miles away so it is not convenient
After a few weeks, I pick up my "fixed" ringThe jeweler had rebuilt the channel which changed the look of my wedding band and resulted in a poor fit with my engagement ringShame on me for walking out of the store with this ring as I should have sent it back on the spot, but I thought this "rebuilt" ring would be more durable in the long runWithin a few days wearing my newly rebuilt wedding band, I looked down to notice a large chunk out of one of the diamondsI took off my wedding band and headed back to Jaffe and dropped it offThey said they would ship it back to the offsite jeweler and get back to me with a cost estimateI told them that I did not expect to pay anything because I did not break the diamond and that to call me with any cost estimates because I did not think I should have to pay for shoddy repair work
Again, after a few weeks I called them about my ring and spoke to MrJaffe who tells me there are two diamonds broken and that he does not like the first estimate from the offsite jeweler and needs to send it to California to get another estimateAlso, he asked me to come in with my engagement ring to make sure they could fix the rebuilt band channel (from October) to fit better with my engagement ring since the second repair changed the shape of my band significantlyAt this point, I tell him I want my wedding band back and will go to another jewelerHe argued that he would not give me back a ring with broken diamonds and that I must have hit the bandI agree that I did not initially see any broken diamonds when I picked it up but find it very suspect that within days of getting my ring rebuilt I find a chunk missing out of one the diamondsAlso, I did not hit my band or do anything out of the ordinary that I had not done during the last years of wearing my ring (and never having any issues until May 2015)
At this point, I had lost confidence in the quality of repair work and guarantees at Jaffe so I picked up my wedding band and took it to another jewelerAt the other jeweler they showed my husband and me under a microscope that there were actually five fractured diamonds in my wedding bandI now have to have my wedding band rebuilt again and pay for five new diamonds
Within months of getting my ring "repaired" at Jaffe, I had a diamond fall out after getting it repaired, a rebuilt ring that looks and fits differently than the original, and several cracked diamondsIt has been very stressful, time consuming, and now add expensive to deal withI share this story so that others may avoid having to go through what I have
