Kindness is also considered a virtue
Had some work done and did an Awesome job ,but was not very friendly felt like it was more of a bother for me to have stopped by to get the details of the job I guess being nice and courteous would have costed extra but when your making that kind of money I guess you dont need to be nice.

At the recommendation of a family member, my wife and I took my wife's [redacted] to Todd's Upholstery for repair/replacement of the headliner in the [redacted]. We had an appointment at 0830 on Monday, 13 October 2014 at the business. We arrived a few minutes before the appointment, but when 0830 came and went, I decided to call the business's number, thinking that perhaps we had gotten the date wrong and that the shop might have been closed due to it being Columbus Day holiday. Someone answered the phone in a gruff sort of way, but I could not clearly tell if I had reached the correct number. When I asked if the number I called was for Todd's Upholstery, the person said, Well, thats the way I answered the phone, wasnt it?. When I asked him what time he would open his shop, he just said, I will be there in a minute and hung up. When he arrived at the shop, he drove his car in very hurriedly, parked just in front of his door, got out, unlocked the front door and went in, closing the door behind him. He never acknowledged our presence in the parking area just a few feet in front of him and did not indicate that it was okay for us to enter the building.I decided to go in anyway and I asked him if he was having a bad day and indicated to him that I would be glad to take my business elsewhere if he did not have the time to take care of it. At that, his mood seemed to mellow out somewhat and he was a little more civil in his demeanor and speech. We discussed the fabric he intended to use and what time we should expect to have the work completed.We called that afternoon and he indicated that the car was ready to be picked up. Upon our arrival, we found that the car was parked under a shelter just off the parking area, so we decided to go inspect the headliner before going into the shop. We discovered that the headliner had been installed, but it was not smooth and even. It had several indentations and uneven spots that were very evident. We also discovered some soiled areas and one place where it appeared that the fabric was cut.I went into the business and asked that he accompany me to the car so that we could discuss the issues we had found. He appeared to be very agitated and when he got to the car he asked what was wrong with it; that he had other work to do. We showed him our concerns, but he became very sarcastic. His response was that the indentations were from the fingers of the installer and that we had to touch it. We asked if we could expect the indentations to smooth out by themselves and he said that some of it might smooth out. He agreed to clean the soiled spots. He examined the cut fabric and tried (to no avail) to tuck it in so that it would not show. Finally, we told him that the work was not satisfactory and asked him what our recourse would be. His response was that we could go home to think about it and pick up the car the next morning, but that the car would have to stay here. At no time did he offer to redo the work to our satisfaction.I paid him that day with a personal check for $400 and left the premises with the car.Desired SettlementMy preference would be to get a full refund so that we can have the headliner replaced elsewhere.As a result of the complaint I filed and your subsequent follow-up, the proprietors of Todd's Upholstery in Sanford, NC contacted us and offered to replace the headliner in our [redacted] to our satisfaction and at no extra charge. Their work was completed on Wednesday, 29 October 2014 and shortly thereafter, they notified us that the car was ready to be picked up. We returned to the upholstery shop the following day where we inspected the quality of the work and the fabric that was installed. We found the job they had done to be very satisfactory and to our liking. From our perspective as customers, we now consider this matter resolved.Please close this case and accept our thanks for your efforts in our behalf.[redacted]
