Review: On Dec 24 2013 I [redacted] went to Tokyo Auto I was looking for the engine that would fit my 02 Solara. I was offered v6 2000 Camry engine with alleged 110k Miles on it. Engine was completely bear no intake, no fuel rails, no starter, no alternator... We agreed on the price $550 dollars that I paid in cash. Engine vin# [redacted] On the 26 I went on Car-fax to see how many miles was on it. To my shock Car-fax reported the engine was from Avalon 98 and had last reported miles of 209,505 miles. As that was not bad enough I took of the valve cover camshafts and everything around it was black. Good thing I saved receipt with 30 day warranty. I took it back to the Tokyo Auto they told me that I was wrong it 110k miles and it was pulled out of 00 Camry I showed them the carfax report but it wasn't enough to convince them. I was told that they can take the engine back but I have to pay 25% restocking which is $137 for nothing. Mind you that I picked up engine and brought it back using my own vehicle. I end up taking their offer because I dint want to drive with it back I live about 31 miles from their place. Company did not suffer any loss. But it was their fault for misinforming me about the engine. I need 100% refund I only got 75%. Thank you.

The engine we (Tokyo Auto Recycling) sold to [redacted] I. [redacted] on December 24 was a matching engine to the V6 2002 Solara, as he is indicating that we sold him the wrong engine and which it was not. I can show proof of the interchanges for the engine he was looking for and even if it was from a Toyota Avalon, the engine was the same. When we buy the car from the auction, we right down whatever miles it is showing and we don't know any back history to the car. We sell used parts, not new parts and if he wanted a new engine; I would be happy to order him a new engine from the dealer. That is why we have a 30 day refund only if the engine is bad after they have installed it. As far as the 25% charge that we made for the return, it is for re-stocking fee that is shown clearly when you walk into the office and all other policies. Re-stocking fee means, the labor for taking our time to pull whatever part a customer needs and if returned with no problems, we have to re-enter everything back onto our systems and relocate it for future sales. We have never had any customer complains for any kind of problems with used parts that we sell and if we know something is not good, we dispose of it right away.
