In response to the recent complaint received by your office regarding the title and registration of Mr***'s newly purchased vehicle, the paper work is currently in the hands of the Department of Transportation in processing. As with all vehicle purchases, a temporary registration which is
valid for days is issued to each customerAs it is our practice to attempt to process all deals online to avoid the long delays (usually 6-weeks) through the Deptof Transportation, it is common for us to be unable to process the title work ourselves for many different reasons.in this case it was due to the fact that this was a used vehicle that had to be paid off from the previous customer and the title was not on handWe needed to wait for the lienholder to produce a new title which caused a delay in our processingAgain, this is quite common with used car sales. When we finally received the title from the bank, we attempted to process the registration but were unable to due to a system update from the Deptof TransportationWe were informed that our online system would not be up and running to process many transactions until Sept, 22, 2016.We then sent the paper work to a title service in Harrisburg (PAA) to help expedite this process and it is currently in processing thereI was informed by the service today, 9/26/16, that should receive the registration within a Week.Knowing that the customer's temporary registration was to expire on 9/24/16, we had issued an extension on his temporary registration so that he may legally drive the vehicle until his paperwork is processed. The customer believes that due to the fact that he had pald cash for the car, that there should not have been any delays, The type of payment is not a factor in how the title and registration is processed and although he is comparing his experience with a friend of his who purchased a new car and received his registration in days, all deals are different and need to be handled as such.We understand the customers' frustration and are already doing everything possible to get his deal processed
