Review: I had my truck in to have the starter replaced on November 29, 2012 by [redacted] at Northport Shell Sales and Service. Exactly a year later, I experienced the same starting issue and took it to my new mechanic. He informed me that the starter had not been replaced and that it was still the factory installed starter. Upon more investigating, it was not re-built or even touched what so ever. There was proof that the starter was not even looked at since the bolts that hold the manifold over the starter, were so corroded that they had to be knocked free to even get to the starter. I also took the bad starter to a licensed dealer and asked them to examine the starter and let me know if it had been repaired or rebuilt. They concluded that it was in fact the original starter and nothing had been done to it. When I approached [redacted] at Northport Shell with this evidence, he tried to lie his way out of it. I had the receipt in hand that clearly showed they charged me for a new starter and labor. I demanded all of my money back and gave them 24 hours. upon my arrival the next day, the owner and Luke had a check waiting for me for the full amount. Obviously an admission of guilt. DO NOT GO TO NORTHPORT SHELL! They are obviously running scams on unsuspecting customers and I just happen to have an honest mechanic on my side who caught these guys. I am still seeking more legal advice on this business on how to expose them. It is extremely important that people know of this place and that they are punished for their thievery.Desired Settlement: I would like this business looked into. I feel that they have been doing this for some time and who knows how many people have been taken advantage of by them. I feel Legal action should be taken against them.

The manifold that covers the starter doesn't have to be removed. My mechanic ordered a new starter from weaver auto parts. The manager at weaver informed us they have had problems with the new starters. After installing the new starter we had the same result the vehicle would not start.
