Tony Aldape Auto Service and Tires Reviews (9)

This vehicle had overheated, was misfiring and the check engine light was on when the vehicle arrived at the shop Based on results from information received from the onboard computer diagnostic test, an estimate was given and approved The initial repairs did not resolve the overheating or misfiring issue It was determined that at this time that the engine had suffered internal damage due to overheating A new estimate was given and approved The customer was notified before any and all work was started We proceeded only after his approval The customer asked if financing was available and was told that Goodyear had a program for months no interest We placed a request to have the months no interest extended to months which was approvedVehicle has been completed and customer has test driven the vehicle

After assembling and completing the repair the engine ran for approximately 20 minutes before one of the timing chains failed.  We were unaware of the problem until the engine was disassembled again.  Please note that this vehicle has 78,000 miles.  This engine has 3 timing chains.  Replacing only the one that failed with this many miles would have been irresponsible of the shop.  YES, EACH TIMING CHAIN IS $50.00.  NO LABOR was charged for disassembling and reassembling the engine again, ONLY for installing the timing chains at this point.  The estimate was for $3250.00 PLUS tax = $3,518.00.  And after replacing the timing chains the total was  $3812.00 including tax.  Not $4000.00.

I am rejecting this response because:  the car was never misfiring when I took it .  The car was only overheating so they were replacing a heat sensor and the thermostat.  I expressed that I did not want to invest to much money when they would tell me that they had found other problems. The last estimate that I was given was the 3200 hundred dollar amount.  The employee in contact with me told me that the timing belt was 50 and that the owner had decided to replace to prevent future problems.  I told him that I already problems with 3200 estimate because my credit line was only for 2500.  He told me that it would only be 50 dollars and the labor was not an issue since they had to put it back anyway. For the owner to claim, that every estimate was provided and approved is not correct.  The last estimate was for 3250.  I told the owner that it was not right to install something that would move the cost from 3250 to 4000.  He claimed that the employee was not a technician.  I told him that he was the only one providing me the estimates and I trusted with information.

I am rejecting this response because:It is not quite true what the shop says, or a couple of precisions shuold be made. After the tire was replaced, the sensor did not read the pressure or low pressure indication, instead of that only two dashes blinking "--" and the TPMS sensor on.This is why I strongly believe that we have not been treat fair, and the shop tries evading their responsibly for the performance of their job.

Yes, when it came in the tire light was on and indicating low pressure. Now after the new tire was installed the tire light is still on and indicating low pressure. We could not have know there was a malfunction to the system until the new tire was installed and after trying to rest the tire light. This is when we found out using our scan tool that a malfunction in the system was present.  Tell us why here...

or misfiring issue.  It was determined that at this time that the engine had suffered internal damage due to overheating.  A new estimate was given and approved.  The customer was notified before any and all work was started.  We proceeded only after his approval.   The customer asked if financing was available and was told that Goodyear had a program for 6 months no interest.  We placed a request to have the 6 months no interest extended to 12 months which was approved. I am rejecting this response because: As they said, the first time we took the vehicle to the shop they told us that the tire cannot be repaired and they order a new one. The TPMS was working and indicating the low pressure for that tire. When the tire arrived they call us and took the vehicle again and the TPMS was working and indicating the low pressure for that tire. Usually when a shop received a car for repair they make an inventory/order and if there is an exception that has to be said, they write it in the same order. Attached you can find the copy for the customer and you can notice that there is no exception regarding this issue (TPMS malfunction) as now they are saying. If there was a malfunction from the beginning, the second and third time we took back the vehicle in order to get the reading of the sensor corrected, the shop would not take the vehicle or should referred to the exception at the first and second orders.

This vehicle was brought in to our shop with a flat tire. The tire light indicator was on and flashing at the time of arrival. The tire could not be repaired and a new tire was ordered and installed. The tire light is still on and flashing. Our scan tool indicates that all sensors in all of...

the tires are on and sending signals. On the dashboard of the vehicle it states "tire monitoring system" which indicates a malfunction in the on-board computer not the tire nor the sensor it the tire. This was obviously a malfunction in the system before it was brought to us for a tire repair. Please understand that we merely replaced a tire and did not have any contact with the on-board computer system. This was explained to the customer when the vehicle was brought in and again explained to the customer when the vehicle was picked up as well. A notation and explanation of all this was written on the customers receipt and signed by the customer.

I am rejecting this response because:  Mr. [redacted] claims that the total was $3812 but the total invoice given to me was for   $4025.95.  I questioned the $85 diagnostic charge and I was given credit since they performed the work.  I paid $2500 with the Goodyear credit (the max. Extended) and was given an invoice for $1525.94.  He also claims that the estimate was for $3250 which totaled $3518 with tax.  If that was the case, then the total should have been $3385 since the invoice provided states that the taxable amount was $1637.35 and not $3250 since he stated that labor was not taxed.  Furthermore, he states the the chains were $50 yet the invoice has them at $58.96 and the labor as $76.67 for each chain.  If what Mr. [redacted] claims is true, the invoice should have been $3385.08 plus 230.01 for the installation labor of the chains minus the $85 credit which is $3530.09.Lastly, he claims that it would be irresponsible to install only one of the chains considering the mileage but I believe that it is irresponsible of him to perform work without consulting with me before adding anything that would add more money especially after I had expressed concern about the cost.
