This letter responds to your inquiry, dated April 13, 2016, requesting that we review Mr. [redacted]'s concerns regarding calls he received from Student Assistance Corporation. Mr. [redacted] has a student...

loan that is serviced by [redacted] and guaranteed by United Student Aid Funds (USA Funds). Student Assistance Corporation (SAC) was performing default aversion services on behalf of USA Funds. Because of this, SAC was attempting to contact Mr. [redacted] in order to assist him with his student loan. We received notification from [redacted] on April 13th that his account was now in good standing. At that time, we closed his account in our office and there have been no calls since April 13, 2016. Since Mr. [redacted] requested no more calls from SAC in his complaint, we have updated his account so he will not receive any further calls from SAC. Student assistance corporation illegally contacted random people by phone trying to collect on bad debts. The problem is our son has first and last name but middle name is different. So they try to locate debtors by fishing via phone calls to possible students, rather than relying on their records and loan information. This is a violation of FTC rules and laws.

In the past 58 days I have been contacted by SAC over 110 times. The company is 'robo-dialing' for call center employees and my number is stuck in the system. I have contacted SAC and asked to be removed: each time I am faced with the same problem - my number does not exist in their system. Today I chatted with Erica and we will see what happens. #losthope
