The small notch we had to enlarge has nothing to do with the swelling of the counter, if it did it would have happened immediately.We never had any intention of cutting and seaming a pc in to fix the counterOur original offer was to split the cost of making a new counterThis offer was made even though I did not feel we had any responsibility for damaged topIt was a more than fair attempt to make a past customer happyI did tell them I was not sure if the material was still available, it isI even took a pc and left by the door so we could verify it was the same color.To be completely frank, I have no desire to do any work at the ***s homei feel we have been blamed and made to look like we don't do quality work by the ***s on several media sites, I am not going to open my company up to any liability by entering their home. dean thompson

I am rejecting this response because:The dishwasher was slated for that spot. We believe that the issue occurred due to a mis-measurement the company did when making the countertop. See attached picture to this email showing the top of the counter that they needed to change on site.At the time the company replied to us, they did not know if they have the original counter top available and wanted to cut the top and make a seam.  It would be acceptable to us for the company to come out, remove the top of that section from the pantry to the stove, remove the sink and remake the top and reattaching the sink to it.  We would be will to share the cost as long as it is done at the original sq. ft. price as we have no way of knowing how much they would charge us now.  The counter would need to be seamless again and I will reinstall the plumbing.Regards,[redacted]

The countertops were fabricated and installed in Feb. of 2013. They are 4 years old this month. I concur with the description of the damaged area. In our experience the only way a laminate countertop suffers this type of damage is from moisture such as water spilling/leaking repeatedly from a sink,...

steam from a dishwasher, a spill from a coffee maker that continually overflows... The location of the damaged area is above the dishwasher on the left side. With the length of time these tops have been installed, we at Top Designs feel we have no responsibility in what has happened to the [redacted]s countertop. The type of damage and the location indicates that at some point recently the countertops were subjected to steam from the dishwasher. However, we offered to remove, remake, and reinstall a new countertop as long as they were willing to do the plumbing and split the cost with us. This was not acceptable. We were told we needed to remove, remake, and reinstall at no charge or refund the cost of the entire job which includes tops other than the one being discussed. We said no. We then offered to make a new countertop at no charge as long as they did the removal and installation this would cause them to be without a top for several days. This was not acceptable. Again, the tops have been installed for nearly 4 years with no issues, Top Designs will repair, rework, or replace any top that was manufactured wrong. This is not the case with the [redacted] top, we feel we went above and beyond by offering to spit the cost with them. The damage is unfortunate but not caused by us. We have attached a picture showing that in fact the dishwasher was not installed prior to or at the time of installation.     Thank you, Dean T[redacted]
