Review: I booked our tuxedo rental for my June 6th wedding at Top Hat Formals. I was back and forth between Top Hat Formal at Pittsburgh Mills Mall and Top Hat Tuxedo at the Waterworks Mall. I received call after call from Top Hat Formal with "price matches" against their competitor at the Waterworks so that they could win my business. It was almost to the point of harassment, but their persistence paid off and I ended up booking our wedding through them. Biggest mistake I could have made.Two of my groomsmen live out of state. They both got measured at a tuxedo rental shop local to them and had their measurements submitted on Top Hat Formals' website. One of the groomsmen's measurements got "lost" and he had to go back to his local tuxedo shop and get measured a second time. After submitting them the second time we were back on track, or so we thought.Next on the list is the fact that my father-in-law was given the wrong color tie for the wedding. This is a very small problem, but when considered with all of the other problems we had with Top Hat Formal, it all adds up. When I asked about the tie, the worker blew me off and basically told me that it's just a tie and wasn't a big deal. As a "professional" in this industry I feel as though everything should be perfect, especially when considering how expensive they are to begin with.On to the THIRD issue that we had with Top Hat Formal. The day before my wedding all of the groomsmen went and picked up their tuxedos. We were all relaxing at my house afterwards when I got a call from Top Hat Formal stating that one of the groomsmen was given the wrong tuxedo. I live an hour from the Pittsburgh Mills Mall, which means that my groomsmen had to drive an hour to Top Hat and an hour back to my house (2 hours total) because Top Hat Formal was incapable of giving out the right tuxedo. Needless to say, my groomsman was not very happy at this point. Luckily it was caught in time, or one groomsman would have been just a little bit out of place in his tuxedo. At no point was there ever an apology for their mistake.Problem number FOUR. This one I can accept responsibility for, but I will say that the manager is VERY greedy and does not care about his customers or their satisfaction. I called Top Hat Formal and spoke to a manager and told him that I was running late for my flight (for our honeymoon) and that I wasn't going to be able to bring the tuxedo to him that day and that I would return it when I got home from our honeymoon. He told me that was fine and to try to get it to them as soon as possible after I got back from the honeymoon. When I went to return the tuxedo a week later they informed me that I had a $20 per day late fee. Apparently this is in the fine print on the back of the receipt. If Top Hat Formal cared about their customers, they would have told me that there was a late fee and I would have had a family member drop the tuxedo off the day it was supposed to be dropped off. Instead, he acted as if this was not a problem at all and made it seem as though it would be perfectly fine for me to bring it when I got back. Obviously I should have read the contract thoroughly, but I feel as though this is 100% greed and deception on Top Hat Formal's part. They could have easily told me about the fee, but decided not to because the $140 in late fee's would go into their pocket.Lastly, my mother-in-law went and returned my father-in-law's tuxedo and during this return process she was treated very unprofessionally by the manager. When she mentioned the fact that his tie was different than what it was supposed to be the manager got defensive and told her that the tie was exactly what we ordered. He proceeded to grab the sales slip to "prove her wrong" and my mother-in-law had the satisfaction of watching him admit his fault. Honestly, it all comes down to the fact that they called me repeatedly at the beginning of the process and literally fought for my business and sweetened the deal for me so that I would come to them instead of their competitor. After all of that they made mistake after mistake, and never once accepted responsibility for any of their actions, yet they want me to pay them $140 for late fee's on my tuxedo. I realize that you're in this business to make money, but at what cost? Of the 6 people that rented tuxedo's at Top Hat Formal for my wedding, my father and myself were the only two people that didn't have some type of complication. Every single complication that occurred was caused by Top Hat Formal, yet no responsibility has been taken for it. I can accept EVERYTHING that happened except for the late fee's. Seeing how deceptive they were in regards to the late fee's just makes everything else that much worse and makes our experience with them very sub-par. I would never recommend them to anybody. They're unorganized, rude, and greedy. I hope that anybody else that deals with them manages to get through the ordeal without all the complications that I had, but I wouldn't recommend anybody to go to this establishment.Our wedding was beautiful, and at the end of the day that's all that matters. No thanks to Top Hat Formal.Desired Settlement: I would be satisfied with my late fee's being waived, considering all of the problems that we had with Top Hat Formal I feel as though that's the least that they could do to make things right.
