Complaint Information:

We did install the wiring and brake control to the specifications of the customer. Unfortunately, it was not made known to us that the customer wanted to install a 12 volt power feed to the plug which is an upcharge and would not have been completed for the stated price. It also has to be approved by the manufacturer of the tow vehicle to make sure no damage would be caused by such installation. I am sorry for the miscommunication but in know way feel responsible for the additional charge he incurred due to the wiring being installed because there would have been a charge for the installation either way. Thank you

I am rejecting this response because:
A wiring diagram was provided to Top of the Hill RV. I stated that I wanted the work to be done as indicated in the wiring diagram. If the work was not to be completed as requested I feel Top of the Hill RV had a responsibility to inform me of that. I contracted with them to do the work as described on the wiring diagram and I left their establishment thinking it was. If Top of the Hill RV mis-quoted the job I feel that I should have been informed or they should have honored their quote.

Review: top of the hill sold me a used camper as is and told me that there was nothing wrong with it. as soon as I received it was flooded due and had 4 leaks

I tried many times to work with them and got nowhere. they never returned my calls or fixed anything! after a month of begging I realized they were not going to help me and even though I could not really afford to do so I tried to trade in the [redacted] camper they sold me for a brand new one . they did email me a trade in value but wouldn't call me or set up apt to do so. at that point I had no choice but to trade in somewhere else because camper was leaking so bad! I lost [redacted] in two months. other dealer said it had over [redacted] in damage was rotted to the floor boards, and that kind of damage could never have happen in two monthsDesired Settlement: I am seeking a fair portion of my loss. I think that [redacted] would be fair

Business

Response:

The camper that was purchased by Mr. [redacted] at the time of purchase did not have any apparent leaks at time of purchase. The camper was sold as is and was not leaking on our lot. It was inspected by the buyer several times. It sold for $11,995 including a $1000 hitch system in the price not the $14,000 stated by customer. When we were notified of the problems, 2 months later, we offered to fix them if he could bring the unit back in for service. He stated that he could not because they were going every weekend and he had it set up and did not want to move it. We informed him that were not set up to service on the road. He finally decided to bring it up but could only swing by with it because he was going again that weekend. We did a quick inspection and adjusted the slide out. It seemed to have shifted slightly. Whether due to roads or set up was undecided. We then offered him $10,700 as trade in and he could keep the $1000 hitch system. This would give him a total value trade in of $12,379. He then informed me he would let me know and come up to discuss the numbers. His decision to go somewhere else was his prerogative but I do not believe we should be held responsible for this. We did everything in our power to try to rectify the situation.

(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT ACCEPT the response from the business.)

The dealer is correct price was 11995 it was 14000 with ext. warranty I purchased. Which I found out in the end did not cover leaks, There was a soft spot in back corner which I addressed the dealer with. she assured me that she believed there was one at one time but had been fixed and were no issues. I did attempt for dealer to fix issues and brought unit to them. told them they could keep it for the week but would like it back for weekend. they informed me they didn't have parts and would have to order them. they adjusted slide and told me they would call when parts arrived! never happened! As for trading it in I tried they refused to call me back to make apt I had been calling this dealer since the week I bought it not just two months later. While waiting for them to work with me the damage got so bad I had no choice but to trade in somewhere else. Believe me it was not my choice to lose this money if I had not traded it in I would have lost it all! The dealer I traded it into showed me damage I didn't even know was there behind walls in both bedrooms. And assured me that it could not have happen in just the two months I owned it that it was over a two to three year period!
