Top Shelf Sports Reviews (1)

Hello, I purchased a [redacted] advertised by Top Shelf Sports as a bike/cycle Tune-up. It is in fact NOT a tune-up but rather an inspection valued at $50. Any work done as a result of the inspection is additionally chargeable. I dropped off my bike for a tune up indicating rear rim was bent, left shifter would not engage 1st gear, right shifter would not engage 7th gear, and rear brake needed adjusting. I was subsequently called and told that the bike needed a new rim, chain, rear gear set, new rear brake pads, new front tire. The total cost was about what the bike was worth new so I asked to just install rear rim and perform tune up as best from there. I picked up the bike and was charged full amount for rim and installation as well as redeem the [redacted] for the perceived Tune-up. I rode bike later that day and discovered no tune up was done since gears did not work, tires were low, brake had lots of play, seat had been lowered, etc. I called and voiced my concerns [redacted]. I proceeded to take out my tools, adjusted the set screws for both changers, inflated the tires from 25 PSI to the minimum of 40 PSI, readjusted rear brake, cleaned and lubricated both changers, chain and sprockets and readjusted my seat to the mark I had previously made on the seat column. End of story; bike runs fine now after my tune up, shifts perfect in all gears, and rides and stops smooth and quiet. [redacted]Desired Settlement[redacted] Provide me an in-store credit for $50 [redacted]Business Response Hello,On July 19th 2014 [redacted] had booked in a bike with a [redacted] coupon for a bike tune-up. He picked up the bike a few days later and was unhappy with the work that was done. The way our "tune-up" service works is that once a bike is dropped off fora tune-up , we will do our inspection and then call the owner with any issues that didn't pass the inspection and then once we finalize the work that the owner does or doesn't want done then we will complete the service and get the bike ready for pick up. In this case there was various items that didn't pass our inspection that [redacted] opted not to get fixed, but he did approve getting the rear rim replaced. Obviously anything above and beyond the tune-up that was agreed to, will be additionally charged at the time of pick up. This process was followed 100% and [redacted] was still unhappy once he got home. He proceeded to call and email a few times and I called him back personally and clarified things with him and requested for him to bring his bike back in if he was unhappy and we would look into the issues he was facing but he opted not to do so as stated in his response. Solution= I am offering to pay [redacted] a $25 cheque through Revdex.com to compensate for his unhappy experience, which is the full amount in which he paid for for the [redacted]. Thanks [redacted] Consumer Response (The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)Top Shelf Sports advertised full bike Tune-up for $49.99 is ONLY an inspection and does NOT include any labor or parts whatsoever. [redacted]. I purchased a [redacted] for the same service valued at $50. I dropped off my bike for a tune-up indicating rear rim was bent, left shifter was not engaging 1st gear, right shifter was not engaging 7th gear, and rear brake needed adjusting. I was subsequently called and told that the bike needed a new rim, chain, rear gear set, new rear brake pads, and new front tire. The total cost was about what the bike was worth new so I only authorized installation of a new rear rim and asked them to perform the rest of the adjustments/tune-up without new parts. I picked up the bike and was charged the full amount for rim and installation and also redeemed the [redacted] assuming balance of adjustments/tune-up had been done. I rode bike later that day and discovered no tune up was done whatsoever since gears still did not shift properly, tire pressures were low, rear brake had lots of play, seat was mis-adjusted, etc. I called and voiced my concerns [redacted]. I proceeded to take out my tools, adjusted the set screws for both gear shift changers, inflated the tires from 25 PSI to the minimum of 40 PSI, readjusted the rear brake to minimize play, cleaned and lubricated both shift changers, the chain and the sprockets and also re-adjusted the seat to the previous mark made on the seat column. Result-> bike runs fine now after my tune up, shifts perfect in all gears, and rides and stops smooth and quiet. [redacted]. It is only an inspection and nothing more. Any labor for adjustments or cost of new parts and installation are all additional charges. I do not accept refund of the [redacted] until Top Shelf Sports agrees to truthfully advertise their tune-up.Final Business Response [redacted] As stated earlier Top Shelf Sports is willing to refund the FULL purchased price of the [redacted] which is $25.99. We will do so by sending a cheque via the Revdex.com once this has been accepted. We strongly feel that we have done everything in our power to accommodate Mr. [redacted], [redacted]. We are very confident that the [redacted] clearly stated what was all included in the service that was being purchased, [redacted] Thanks Top Shelf Sports
