Very professional and resolved the issue very fast. I would definitely recommend them.

Top This cut uneven exposed rafters during gutter installation, without prior notice to or consent from me.
I have an old house that has exposed and painted rafters around the perimeter of the roof. During the estimate process, we discussed installing the new gutters into the rafters, like the old ones were, instead of installing new fascia board. It was never disclosed to me that there was a possibility of the rafters being cut during the installation. After the installation was finished, I was notified that several rafters had been cut so that the gutter would install evenly. The problem with this is that several of the cuts were done in a sloppy manner, and the newly exposed wood was not painted. I was not even given a chance to paint them, as they cut and installed on the bare wood without notice to me. When the owner came back to clean up debris from the installation that had been left behind, I explained my concern to him. He then began to point out other areas of my house that have wood deterioration and chipping paint, unrelated to any business that Top This was contracted to do, and asked me why those areas were not of concern to me. He became very condescending and manipulative. He asked whether I would have been willing to pay more to have them leave after cutting the rafters, hire someone to paint and then have them bring their crew back to install. He informed me very quickly that they do not paint. I was never given the option to have someone else paint the rafters. He then told me that they could not come back up, take the gutters down, allow me to paint and then reinstall without charging me again. So now if I want the issue resolved, I was told I would have to pay them to return to take the gutters down and reinstall to allow me to paint the exposed wood. None of this was included in the initial estimate or in the contract.

Desired Outcome

I want Top This to return, take the gutters down and allow me to inspect and paint the rafters, then return a second time to install the gutters once again. I do not believe I should be charged for this mistake.

We have talked to the customer and will be resolving this issue

Roof Installation Warranty Issue is Unresolved...There is an active leak in the roof and the company is unresponsive. Back in August we identified a leak in the roof which was completely installed by the Top This Construction. It took over 3 weeks after they inspected the roof to send someone to fix the roof. After they inspected some things and put down some shingles they said they couldn't find the source of the leak. They said to keep an eye on it and let them know if it continues to leak.
The contract identifies a two year workmanship warranty yet they have been unresponsive to my latest attempts to contact them identifying that the leak continues. I have called and left multiple voice messages and sent text messages with a video showing the water dripping from my ceiling to both people. My latest attempts to contact them started on Saturday October 26th. It is now October 31 and I still have not received an acknowledgement of my request for warranty service. This leak was not present prior to the installation of the roof system by the company. The persons I have attempted to contact are a father and son both named . I have attached a signed copy of the contract which details the warranty conditions.

Desired Outcome

I would like a call from the company to discuss options for how they will provide a solution to the leak with a day as to when they will come and fix the leak and I would like that leak fixed as soon as possible.

Mr ,
We just spoke this morning (October 31, 2019) about the issue, but anyway. We are committed and will back up our workmanship warranty as promised. We already went back in August and re-flashed the section that was leaking at the time. At this point, we need to have the siding removed from that affected section (top to bottom of the wall), and install a waterproof membrane at the roof-to-wall. We can get this job done as soon as, tomorrow, Friday November 1, 2019. This kind of leak could be from the roof deck or the wall. In August 2019, we removed and installed new flashing and shingles in the affected area (this would be the roof deck). Now, since it'll leak on and off and the leak changes from rain to rain, we need to water proof the affected section of the wall. We can help by removing the siding as carefully as possible since it is already very old and brittle, but we will not take responsibility for any damaged siding since it's very old, faded, and brittle. Unfortunately, the cost of the siding material and installation for the siding is not included in our contract. Therefore, you need to hire a siding contractor to install the siding back in the area that'll need to be removed in order to waterproof the wall. Please let us know if you would like for us to work on your house. It would be at 1 pm tomorrow November 1, 2019.

(The consumer indicated he/she ACCEPTED the response from the business.)
The business has reached out to me after I had submitted the Revdex.com complaint. They agreed to send persons to determine the source of the leak. I was present at the removal of shingles and witnessed some of the roof deck was rotten. The business replaced said decking and installed a different type of roofing membrane and re-shingled. It appears to be a quality installation at this time.

I was quite pleased with the work performance in relation to quality and diligence of completing my work. Thank you for the buisness.

Mr. Davare, it has been a pleasure serving you and your family. If there's ever anything we can do to help you please let us now!

First off never pay all upfront. Was hired to fix 81 year old Mother's roof. a young man came and started job but needed more work done to do job right. Company was contacted that day with pictures. week and half later still not having heard anything from company so I hired someone to do job before anymore damage was done. The day before the new set of roofers came the same young man came to finish job. How could he finish job if problem hasn't been fixed yet. They are going in a new direction as they sent out a young man that cant speak English very well, could not understand half our questions. when I talked to owner about giving some of my Mother's money back that was a NO. I wish I could leave no stars. In the past I would and have recommended them to many and used myself. Their way of doing business now I would never Recommend.

Mrs., I'm sorry you feel that way.

With this particular project, *** insisted on paying upfront. She also told us that it didn't matter when the job got completed, she said, just fit her into the schedule.

We gather small repairs like hers with other small repairs we have sold, in order to make the most out of the work day. In this particular project, we were hired to perform general maintenance on all of her pipe boots as well as repairing a small section of damaged soffit board.

When we arrived and started working, we discovered additional unforeseen damage, when we removed the soffit. This required additional labor, more than what we had quoted for. We were unable to finish the repair in the time we set aside that day, due to lack of materials, so we rescheduled and planned to come back within two weeks. We removed the cause of the problem (the gutter) so she didn't experience any more damage, until we came back to fix it.

In the beginning of July it rained almost every day making it really hard to complete any work. We never breached our contract, *** hired another company to complete the "unforeseen damage" which we told her would have resulted in an additional charge, to the original contract (after talking to ***, she said she was okay with paying the additional charge).

Ultimately, when we met with her (after we realized someone else finished the job) she insisted on getting a refund of over 50% of the total, because:
1. We didn't quote her for another area separate from the original work order.
2. The new company started where we left off and finished repairing the "unforeseen damage" we encountered.
3. The new company also did the work that was separate from the original contract/work order, before we had an opportunity to make things right and complete one project at a time.

In closing, we were never aware of another company coming in while we were still under contract for the repair. We met with *** and found out after everything was completed. In the end, this is why she's gave us a bad review, because we did not pay her over 50% of the total.

Mrs., I'm really sorry things didn't work out like we planned. I hope that one day in the future we can make it up to you.

Top This Construction and ***, Jr. absolutely shatter the negative stereotype of roofers and contractors. Reliable, honest, fair, skilled and professional, Top This Construction is, unquestionably, one of the best contractors we have ever worked with. I would not hesitate to highly recommend them to anyone looking to have residential roofing projects or commercial roofing projects or repairs done.

***, Jr. is a bright young man who genuinely wants to help you choose the best roof possible for your home. He may be a young man but do not mistake his youth for inexperience. Aside from being one of the most cheerful people I have ever met, ***, Jr. is deeply well versed in the residential roofing and commercial roofing trade. Having undergone extensive training and consistent continuing education in order to maintain his standing as a GAF Certified and Licensed Contractor, *** truly knows residential roofing and commercial roofing as a qualified professional.

His knowledge was evident in the way he was able to clearly and succinctly educate us on all of the features of the GAF Certified Roofing System, explaining the function of each feature as well as how each feature worked in conjunction with all of the others to form a solid, beautiful roof that lives up to a lifetime warranty. He was upfront about cost and helped us see the benefit of thinking long term with regards to our decisions as opposed to simply thinking about staying inexpensive. He answered every question honestly, with no gimmicks and no hard sell. Ultimately, the GAF Certified Roofing package we chose was both within our budget and a solid investment that will benefit us in the long term.

We were also particularly impressed with GAF Roofing as a manufacturer. Both GAF Roofing and Top This Construction offer special rebates for active military, retired military, and military veterans. My husband is an Air Force veteran and the fact that both GAF and Top This Construction make it a policy to honor all soldiers through their Roofs for Troops program speaks volumes about their genuine desire to establish positive support and provide positive results for the communities they run in.

***, Jr. holds Top This Construction to the highest standard of professionalism and customer service. His confidence in the quality of his company and his service is such that he encouraged us to review offers from other companies and to truly hold Top This Construction up to the light in comparison. We received estimates and offers from six other companies and none were as thorough as Top This Construction in their explanation or as willing to work within our budget. Throughout our decision process, *** answered every question promptly and cheerfully, checked in on our decision making progress and always made himself available to answer any questions or concerns.

Above all, *** found a way to get us excited about the new GAF Certified Roofing System we finally chose. It was mildly absurd, but gratifying, to discover the process was actually fun. Exploring features on the demo program he had allowed us to view an animated, 3D replica of what our choices would actually look like. This made the process easier and gave us more peace of mind about our choices. Choosing a color for the dimensional shingle was like choosing an ice cream flavor by the time we got to that stage of the project.

When the time came for the roof to be installed, the Top This Construction crew descended on the house like a SWAT team of roofing professionals. Arriving early in the morning, it was obvious the Top This Construction crew was well experienced in the roofing process. They systematically removed the old roof, repaired the damaged panels and fascia and were already laying the dimensional shingle on the opposite end of the roof as the last pieces of fascia were being nailed it. It was like watching a well-rehearsed dance. No time was wasted, no corners were cut, and the crew even stayed onsite for their lunch so they could return to work immediately. The crew remained courteous and professional at all times and were careful to respect our property, understanding it was our home and not just another roofing job.

Our entire home improvement project was complex with several pieces happening in different stages. Top This Construction installed the GAF Certified Roofing System and were also contracted to install 6" seamless gutters. But we had plans to have the house painted by Martin Brothers Painting before the gutters were to be installed. The painting was held up by weeks of seemingly endless rain. In the midst of our painting adventure, *** never dropped the ball with the remaining pieces of our project he knew still needed to be completed. He checked in on our painting progress and made sure he scheduled the final 6" seamless gutter work according to our painting schedule rather than rushing us to try and finish the gutter installation in the midst of the painting.

By the time the entire project was complete, *** was almost as excited as we were by the transformation and the results. He never missed a beat with his follow up and wrapped up Top This Construction's part of the project quickly and efficiently. He made sure we were 100% satisfied with very aspect of the residential roofing project Top This Construction had been a part of.

From start to finish, ***, Jr. and Top This Construction were consummate professionals, delivering quality customer service and a stunning GAF Certified Roof that is all it promised to be. If you're looking for a hassle-free, user friendly home roofing or commercial roofing experience that ends with a fantastic roof that's within your budget (yes, they can do all that!), put Top This Construction at the top of your list. You will not be disappointed.

The best! Very reliable company with super friendly owners/crew! The free estimate alone was better and more informative than the other 4 company's estimates combined!

As young homeowners we had never replaced a roof before. *** explained every step and material in detail to ease our concerns. He kept us informed throughout the day with what the crew was working on, and there were no surprises on the invoice. The crew showed up early and didn't waste any time getting to work. They replaced our roof within one day! I can't recommend this company enough!
